Quinn/ Oliver guitar duo were so exciting back in the early 80s and their music has stood the test of time !

Oliver and Quinn were the originals and the best duo Saxon ever had.

I saw your Grandad at Stafford Bingley Hall in 1981. Epic gig and I still have Wheels of Steel in my car stereo, on CD. 🎉 Thanks for the music and memories.

Excellent stuff! Your granddad is a major hero for me, and one of the reasons I picked up a guitar. For a man who has penned so many of the best riffs in metal, he is a humble gentleman, and always comes across as a really warm and likable person - Qualities he has clearly passed on to you - so he is a legend in my eyes. There are very few things as fun to learn on guitar as classic Saxon songs. All the best to you both!

Glad I stumbled across this interview! I started listening to Saxon in the early 80s; it was a small crew of us at my middle school that knew of them. Saw Saxon in 1982 at the Santa Monica Civic opening for Accept during the Power & the Glory tour. What a show!

Seen your Grandad live on a few occasions. My favourite Saxon guitarist of all time. Certainly knew how to get the best out of a Gibson SG. What an honour to watch this. Best wishes to you both. Thank you for sharing. 🎸❤

Saw your Grandad with Saxon at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1981. A brilliant band live and your Grandad was a magic guitar player. If they had stuck together they would have broken the American market. They deserved to be huge!

Saw Graham several times with Saxon. My favourite member of this great band, always loved his stage acting. Had the pleasure to meet him backstage in Dittigheim, Germany with OD Saxon @The Harder than steel-Festival in 2018. Graham is a true legend! Wish you both all the best. 🙂

Saxon were the first Heavy Metal band I ever heard. And I've loved them ever since.
Your Grandad was the sound of Saxon. That sustain he had on his white SG was brilliant.
    Glad he is still playing.

Enjoyed the interview. I remember being at school as a 15 yr old in 1986. It was a great time for music, and lots of other cultural/current affairs etc. Towards the end of that year one of my mates gave me a copy of Saxon's 'Rock the Nations' record. A perfect end to a significant year. Cheers to you and your Grandad.

Great interview Libby .... I first met your grandad around 1981 I was working on an Oil Rig drilling for coal in Chester, very late one night at the B&B we were staying in there was a knock on the door I answered it and standing there was 5 long haired rockers with no where to stay luckily the B&B had rooms so I booked them in and we've been friends ever since .... The last time I saw your Grandad was at his and your Mum's joint Birthday party in Bawtry..... Great night, great memories ........... Roger

This was a pleasure to watch, particularly as I was a big Saxon fan back in the '80s. I was sorry to hear your comment that your grandad has Parkinson's, and hope the progression is extremely slow.

You are right to be proud of your grandad Libby. I first saw him play in a little club in Bradford in 1978. That was the day my life changed forever and I became a metalhead. I am 62 now and still go see Saxon and your grandad's band whenever they play. He and others like him have been a big part of many peoples lives for a long time. He's a proud Yorkshireman too which is just as good as being a rock superstar. Good luck and keep on with your interviews. Try do one with Paul Q or Brian Shaughnessy - that would be fun to watch 🎸

I have seen your Grandad many times over the years including the first Donnington Monsters of Rock, always one of my favourite guitarists , some of his solos are unbelievable ,ask him does he remember the power failure at the Manchester Apollo gig I think in 82 or 83 , it lasted about 15 minutes and when Saxon came back on there was the biggest cheer ever ,I remember it like it was yesterday I was 19 years old ....
