You forgot "L'Insoumis" (1964) directed by Alain Cavalier. Most romantic line in cinema history: "If you are ever in Istanbul, let me show you how honey is made." --French Foreign Legion deserter Tomas Vlassenroot (Alain Delon), spoken while dying of a gunshot wound taken when rescuing the woman political prisoner he loved. Written by Delon's friend and epic screenwriter Jean Cau.
I recall having read a quote from Delon that he never really acts - he is always himself (reacting to the proposed variety of imagined situations that get printed to film) Yikes. If true: That would make him a very interesting, even spellbinding man indeed. I would never tire of watching him at work... However, assuredly, would also never want to meet such a man personally - nor have him among my close friends😳
I would have loved to meet him. Just to gaze at him. Visconti was asked why did he pick Alain Delon to play Rocco, a saint. He replied, "Alain Delon IS Rocco. If I couldn't have got him, I wouldn't have made the film."
