I just met Novak in Castle Rock, CO at the Recovery across America 2024 event. Really awesome dude.. lit made my life. As a recovering speedball addict with arms that looked like a zombie movie(1 year 1/2 clean) dude was down to earth, nice, and had TIME to hear what you had to say.... I love the guy. He's definitely a huge part of helping my battle with sobriety. He's helped so many others. Thank Novak, Remember Anthony the dude that talked to you in the parking lot at the fair grounds who parked right behind you. 😅
I actually like that you guys talked about stuff other than sobriety. Sometimes, I think people forget Novak's personality has so much more to offer. His wisdom is incredible, but there's so much more to him beyond what he does for a living. Also, Steve -- thanks for recognizing your editor was being misleading about Bam, and double thanks for putting a stop to all that. Sorry Bam's fanbase went so hard on ya. For whatever reason it ALWAYS feels like SteveO is trying to prove Novak wrong... and passively tries to discredit his input or retelling of events idk why. They are all legends to me and totally changed skateboarding culture for better or worse !!! Glad to see, these two in particular, still alive and well!!... not to mention sober!!
I got really tired of this episode because of Steveo and Scott's "banter' or interview questions - It's true that they may just be friends talking but they have to realize that there is an audience who does not really know the background and history necessarily when coming into watch this, so to see two people ask questions and then pick apart someone's answer, it seems more like trying to antagonize than have a professional podcast where people know what the hell is going on. That's just my perception though.
Idk why, but this interview with Novak felt more like, critical and meanspirited than normal. I love when he's on the show, but for some reason the normal brotherhood bond I see between Steve O and him just isn't there. Kinda sad. Just doesn't feel like Steve's heart is in this one.
It's great that you guys are trying to be such good friends to bam but he just can't realize it or understand it quite yet and hopefully one day it breaks through and his mind allows him to realize what has been happening and he does get the help he truly needs. SteveO, im glad you found MooMoo cuz pibbles really are the best road doggos. i wish you guys the best of rides bud. also, the mount skatemore cant exist. rodney and tony get their heads up then everyone follows behind.
I don't think 96 was a low point in skating, I think with or without the X games skating would have taken off, because I was 16 in 96 and everyone was skating, and everyone was heavy into Jnco's and grunge etc, and with that brought skateboarding. I remember a huge group of use brbought a quarter pipe, and railes, and all kinds of stuff up on this hill with cement at the top of it in MN, like a make shift skatepark and everyday of the week there would be 10 to 40 people up there hanging out skating, and there would be girls, and just everyone went there it was a thing. Then the city came and took all the stuff we brought up there. But Skating was huge in the 90s like 93 and it was growing by 96. Maybe the money wasn't there for "PROS" until the X games, but popularity for normal kids was definitely around.
@@ashleybrown4754 Because skaters didn't like Tony hawk. He was the least popular skater, and everything was street. Not cause skating wasn't popular, Tony just wasn't liked, he was lame. This is from a skater who hung around groups of 30 or more skaters, back in the 90s. Tony Hawk making money doesn't have anything to do with the popularity of skating. The amount of people buying skate equipment does, and skating was extrmely popular in the grunge era which is the exact era we are talking about. All those grunge metal kids skated, and that was insanely popular. Ramps were not, it was all street, companies like Plan B, Girl, Etnies, DC Shoe, Droors before that, Shorty's Venture, all these companies were around. The issue was small skate companies didn't know how to properly monetize the business, because they weren't business men they were skaters. Tony Hawk has zero bearing on how popular skating was. Tony Hawk was the skater people liked who didn't skate, that's just how it was back then.
When Steve-o comes in with the shameless Recovery center plug after Novak plugged his own then the camera cuts to Novaks hand gesture is CLASSIC Awkward moment hahaha
I find it very funny stevo says he doesn't want to exploit bam while at the same time exploiting bam if you don't want to talk about someone then don't talk about them how can you say you don't want to talk about them while you're on camera talking about them steve-o's got a bad habit of that if Steve-O really didn't want to exploit or talk about them during the podcast and he would have said that to Novak before the cameras were rolling but he didn't it was literally one of the first things he talked about dude literally says he waited for the cameras to start rolling to bring up his name
That was a great episode. It's always great to see Novak only on the up and climbing and having the much deserved success with his recovery and his treatment centers etc. Congratulations bro
I would lose my mind if Deco made a TH-cam channel. I can still remember the whole song he did in CKY 2K. I can kick you higher than you can kick me. I can kick your way up into a tree.😂😂
Thank you do much for this interview. Bro ive been listening to people talk about his skating for years, and how good it was..... but only in the context of a steeping stone to get to the drugs story. And how they took a great skater and person. But we never get to hear the skateboarding story. He doesn't get a nine club appearance. Wheres any videos? ITs not just bam skating again. That's for sure. All the kids inspired in the 90's and 00's are getting back to skating again. Now in their 30's and a few in our 40's. You can say covid accelerated it, but didnt cause it. Because they still come, and new ones continue to come now almost a half a decade since covid. But sadly i guess at the end of the day, the GenX big brothers really aint made of the same stuff as us born at the end of the 80's and through the 90's. And honestly even the gen before you. those who where ripping in the 70's and still are today. Heck we even got people just learing in their 70's and 80's now. Look it up. And we all know the kids these days kick all of our butts. I guess GenX can continue to tell us how great they were, looking cool on the sidelines, with cool stories about how badass they are/where ....while we carve bowls, with your parents gen, and our kids, at the same time. While rodney mullen is currently rewriting medical knowledge, because he the first try to anything like this or any really physical activity after double hip replacements. .....whats our/your/the excuse again? Its just some basics, you dont need to film a sponsor me tape anymore. Just get physical, sweaty, and social. Make a difference to people and kids outside of anonymous meetings. Stop the problems before they start. After we are gone, the memories of what we saw is what remains. So, if this is what the kids see and remember. you guys could be known for talking a big game, but not backing it up like everyone else did. Honestly theres an age gap in the skateboarding/skateparkworld. And forties to almost sixties see to be scared of being hurt or embarrassed. But it is alright, we will be polite to you when your retired, soon. We can wait for the back in my day jokes.

Love when you have Brandon on, keep up the great work guys!
Saw the vid title and immediately thought "highly doubt that" lol
Always the best guest!!! Besides pontius lol!
Wow Brandon Novak. I hear he's sober now
He’s been sober for multiples of years. He runs his own sober living homes and is active in the recovery community.
@@jaredblainemuzikThat was more than obviously sarcasm
Lmao
Lol he kept saying that jokingly the second or third time he was on
Brandon Novak, YA FARRRKN LEGEND 🤘🏼
14:40 guest spills his heart out and then the Steve guy just derails and ignores his entire story. Man such a wall
No thabks
Noticed the same thing unfortunately
I gotta catch your show
YEE-HEAAA DUUUDE! I’ll be at the San Diego show 💯🔥
love y'all
💚
Wow Steveo moon pie is going to every show in the tour bus?!?!
Mt. Rushmore of skating… Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Nyjah Huston, and cant decide between (Reynolds, Daewon, or Danny Way, not sure)
PLEASE get Eddie Furlong on, he's awesome. really hope he get's offered more movie parts.
From 91 to 94 was a super low point in skateboarding. Tony Hawk couldn't even make money.
I love Novak so much bro!!!!!!!!!!!🤘🤙❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 #YEAHDUDE #LOVEYOUGUYS #STREETTEAM
When Steve-o comes in with the shameless Recovery center plug after Novak plugged his own then the camera cuts to Novaks hand gesture is CLASSIC Awkward moment hahaha
OH my GOD! Moonpie is a great name, fits perfectly. I have a Mini Sharpie we call "MooMoo Moosheekins"
Ed Furlong would be an awesome guest!
Koston should be in the top 5, but understandable list
always my favorite guest
I love skateboarding and you guys🤘
Steve-O i bang on about Dico's talent.
Getting away from Bam was the best thing for Novak and Raab
That was a great episode. It's always great to see Novak only on the up and climbing and having the much deserved success with his recovery and his treatment centers etc. Congratulations bro
This episode made me relapse. Thanks guys!
I would lose my mind if Deco made a TH-cam channel. I can still remember the whole song he did in CKY 2K. I can kick you higher than you can kick me. I can kick your way up into a tree.😂😂
I just spent my hole weekend watchin all the jackass movies and mtv shows and wild boys 😅
I guess GenX can continue to tell us how great they were, looking cool on the sidelines, with cool stories about how badass they are/where
....while we carve bowls, with your parents gen, and our kids, at the same time.
So proud of Novak and how far he's come! Such a certified badass! Cool that he offered to scholarship recovery options on the east coast 💪💯🫶 WE DO RECOVER 4.28.2014 - 10.5 years from hopeless dope fiend to dopeless hope fiend 🥰
Finally novak not talking about sobriety every second.
That sucks. Bam seemed to be doing relatively well.
He was! I saw him 2 weeks before he got arrested. It was like hanging out with 2000s Bam again. He was very shy but working his ass off to make every fan feel loved. Wasn't even smoking that much. His wife is his rock, but he made a lapse in judgement and learned quick that he made a mistake. Slip-ups happen, and he understands he fucked up bad.
The movie about the Mexican Mafia was American Me. That was the thing where Danny Trejo got the guy a pass.
Steve-O was kind of a dick to Novak this time around, contradicting everything smh.
Cuz he sees himself too much in him
@@psychobillynumbnuts1All these clean and sober people are weak minded
@psychobillynumbnuts1 on radio bam novak was the first person to come up with getting boobs lol but steveO turned it down lol if Novak did it instead it would crush steveO's ego big time.
I don't think so
He just questioned him
I'm so sick of Steve O trashing Bam. Bro you're a successful tv icon that is " Sober" Even if Bam still gives you shit you should be the bigger person! Get over it!
