@keslandedominique5796 I’m already a medical assistant so I didn’t have to take the pct course/class so I’m unsure. But I’m sure you can find patient care tech programs in your area. Just call around

I live in Dallas too and currently finishing my PCT training . I wanna work at Baylor but I worked there before and it’s crazy . How much experience did u need before they hired you ?
Oh that’s what’s up. I’ve been an MA for 8 years and I don’t even think they considered that. I just think it was the fact that I was already working for Baylor that made the transition how it did.

Did you go through a program and get certified as a PCT? I’m gonna enroll into a program from my local community college.
Nope. I’m a medical assistant so they took that. You don’t have to be certified at my job cause it’s a teaching hospital.
My Nurse Aide program has a PCT program also. I start April 23rd.

Did you have prior experience or did you went in without any experience at all?
Chile I didn’t have a lick of pct training or education. Lol I hate that job and I just can’t do it man. But because I’m a medical assistant I was good to do the job. But I feel as tho you need the knowledge. I only have clinic knowledge. Not hospital. I learned on the fly.

I have orientation in 2 weeks what’s some advice you would give me I’m nervous this is very new to me
Ask lots of questions, be a sponge, don’t let the nurses take advantage of you. Y’all are there to help one another and ultimately the patient, watch more than you speak, do what works well for you and the patient. Last but not least, get some essential oils for your mask cause that piss and poop might take you out. Other than that congrats babe🫶🏾😘
