Great discussion, Stephen. I've heard many people say that a big advantage of downsizing and minimalism is that you prioritize what you really need, and you only carry what brings you the most joy. I think this lifestyle could be a great way to spend some retirement years, while exploring regions and doing activities that may be hard to do while working.
Yeah it’s definitely a huge sense a freedom but you do have to let go of some of those little things. Worth it for the freedom in my opinion. Would you try it in a element?
@StephenAldaco yes, I think they are an ideal vehicle for one or two people traveling. However, good examples in reasonable condition are getting harder to find now, and the ones in the best condition are quite expensive.
I can’t wait to live in my Honda Element again. I was happy.

Thanks alot for sharing. I recently got an element and randomly stumbled onto one of your videos and discovered the whole world of the microcamper. For years I've fantasized about various vehicles (my brother had a 1972 westfalia with all the fixings) so for awhile I really wanted a vanagon (had a passenger on for a bit and LOVED it) if it wasn't that I would imagine living in a cargo van or the newer vans like the dodge/Mercedes/Ford but always held back because I couldn't see myself driving a mini RV all the time. Now I have an element and all these ideas are flooding to me. I love how you can do a little (just a bed) or a lot (the guy with the black element) and I love how so many of these builds are removable. So thank you for recording and interviewing so many people. It's a wonderful source of information and ideas. I know first off I'm going to get mine in tip top mechanical condition, and probably do a lift and put slightly more aggressive tires and wheels. (I've had several jeeps and like the more "SUV" look) after that I'm pondering one of those tailgate wheel holders that has the table and probably a bench/bed setup with some cabinets.
Do you know of a website or something that lists all the places that sell various things? Like the element 44 suspension stuff, or the cabinets etc. There was a build that I saw a teaser of on element lifestyle that I really want to see more. It was super clean and had a sideways bench that looked OEM.
Last thing I'm curious about is your canine friend. I currently have two blue heelers and often wonder how much harder having a dog is to the vagabond lifestyle. Nothing is gonna happen right away. I have to get my knees rebuilt, get my health back and then get back to work (I'm a respiratory therapist) ... But the big thing I want to do is travel. (3 months contracts moving city to city) and having a mini camper could work. The one last last thing I wanted to know about is towing. Have you come across people that tow a utility trailer or anything? I have a 2020 Honda shadow and I want to build a small enclosed trailer and tow it. The bike is around 600 so ideally I'd like the trailer to be 700/800 max... But we shall see. If everything works out I'm gonna paint my element white and leave the black plastic corners and black out all the emblems to match my bike. Lol. Sorry for the novel! I had a lot on my mind. Traveling with a pup can be tough but the element is nice and enough space for a 1 human and a dog. Sage Roddy our most recent interview did this with his dog for many years might want to check out his build. Heelers are absolutely one of my favorite breeds great choice. You can 100% tow your bike the towing capacity is 1400 lbs. I would recommend getting swift springs in the rear if your having a build and towing. Cheers m8.

After watching videos of Rosa and now you with your honda elements I so wanted to get one. However we don't have them in Australia. So I'm sticking with my 2013 nissan xtrail. Don't think there's as much space but I've slept it in off and on when I go camping and such and I'm slowly building it out for vanlife.
Wow, good luck with your van life! I did not you know you’re from Australia very cool Honda Element is awesome because it’s boxy but you can do vanlife in just about anything.

Good Info, thanks for sharing. I live in #YYC Alberta prairies and it gets very cold here in winter -45 etc.
I was looking at Sprinter Van at Auction due to insulations heater space etc requirements. I think it depends on situation. It just gets so cold here it would all need to be winterized. The biggest thing for me is savings, during pandemic I worked from home and saved alot so the nest egg def alleviates worrying as much. but maint and gas can get outa hand.
I lived frugal too always cooked n barely ate out or do the appetizer thing I hear that. my rent was just for one bedroom. developers came in last year got rid of all our multi unit places and put the 1.7mill houses for two people. rent is so high here. this is what encourages me to get a van so I can save that money instead of renting.
After 5 years am sure you have enough to make some other moves like buy outa town etc.
Wow -45 is intense! I would definitely need something with a heater and all the fixings if I was to even attempt to live in that weather. Glad you got your nest egg sorted out 🙏

What kind of mpg does a Honda Element really get on the road?
I'm camping out of my Prius now, it's kind of unthinkable to downgrade to anything that's half of my 45 mpg now.
Funny because I think a Prius would be perfect for me ac & great gas mileage can’t beat it. Plus I’ve seen plenty of rad Prius builds. I get to 20-22 mpg.
@@StephenAldaco I heard a Ford Transit Connect could get 28-30 mpg on the freeway.
If the mechanical issues didn't happen with your large Sprinter van, would you have switched back to the Element?

Not quite I stay in a local area but kinda bop from place to place 👐
THATS the concern for me in moving out of state- having that solid , safe overnight parking spot. 😮
I currently hv "home base" parking in my ex neighbor's driveway. It is SUCH a peaceful feeling. And I NOW realize the value .... enough to even pay smbody rent for a driveway space in my next cities - Vegas, S.D, SoCal.😊
