But I use sulphate and paraben free shampoo and conditioner. 5-1 argon oil spray, I have some aveda products like scalp remedy-brilliant oil-smooth infusion and universal styling creme, and then I put black Castor oil on my ends. I only use a tiny bit of each once a week after washing. The brilliant emollient oil has rice and bran oil which helps a lot!

It’s because Solange’s hair isn’t straightened or dyed. The combo is a death sentence to most black women. That’s why people question Beyoncé’s hair. Not the length rather the complete lack of texture. Not even type 2 haired black women have hair that slick. I personally think Beyoncé is wearing a weave. A bit back in 2008 there was a picture of B with completely short hair spread before getting a wig weaved on.

Da Diva Your facts are not straight. Come on now...let's give credit where credit is due. Beyoncé does NOT have 22 years of protective styling. That makes no sense. Beyoncé's hair grew that long in just 6 years. IT can be done and a lot of women do it if they take care of their hair and SHE does. Beyoncé cut her hair off SUPER SHORT in 2013. TMZ reported it and also SHOWED it. Go to You Tube and type "BEYONCE CUTS OFF ALL HER HAIR" and you will see the video posted by TMZ back in 2013. IT is extremely short. A cute pixie cut. Yes, she got the long length in about 6 years. Just by taking care of it under her wigs. It looks awesome and I love what her mother did because it's nice to see our women show-case our hair more often. But of course it grows really long and stays healthy like that because we have it braided and protected under the wigs. But....no....it is NOT 22 years of protective styling, just 6. Blessings to you.

It appears as though some black people allow their self-loathing of some sort to allow some others to define what our beauty is. If we don't tell others what is beautiful to them, we shouldn't let others tell us what is beautiful to us. Stand for something. Most black people don't have naturally curly hair and shouldn't hate themselves or allow others to hate them for what God gave or did not give them. Kinky, curly, or coily, love the skin you are in.

N pressed was only for church on special church fats you kkow Christmas n Easter back in the 80s that was it... But they obsessed over my hair like this until my one lil cousin came along with 3c hair fully black n it was long if course... So they started kinda seeing tho it was in the upkeep... Now they know but lived they whole lives being forced to get perms to straighten it because they had 4c or even more course... Im like a 2 whatever n a 3c n just like a sliver of 4c not even at all worth claiming I can't hold an afro for the life of me... Makes me mad lol. I think alot of this has been a problem with moisturizing products... The products they had out at that time did not support any other type of hair... If it was beyond 2 or 3 that mean you hadda get a perm back then... Now I love that black women are not. All textures are beautiful and I'm so glad to see 4c sisters showing out.

MIHKAH TALKS I'm only commenting because you asked. Mainly confusion and sadness on my end. I never even realized hair was such a sensitive topic to black women until I started watching these types of videos. I didn't really understand why it was such a big deal and why they couldn't just keep their natural hair and maintain it instead of applying all these harsh chemicals... but the more I looked in to it, I understood it was years and years of being put down and systematic brainwashing, often by their own peers too, so I guess I just have a lot of empathy for black women. But it does make me sad to think that so many black women grow up with so much self hatred. Not just black women, but a lot of women in general, grow up not feeling beautiful in their own skin so they end up doing as much as they can to alter their natural selves. If black women want to wear wigs/weaves/whatever, it's their choice and I fully support it because hey, which lady doesn't like to change up her look? But I do wish that the decision to do so wasn't rooted in self hate... because every person deserves to feel absolutely beautiful in their own skin. I wish more women, not just black women, would stand up to society and just say a big f**k you and embrace their natural selves instead of us giving in to society's (mainly fuelled by businesses cause hey, insecurity is the best way to get that $$$) idea of what a woman should and shouldn't look like. This young client had hair down to her ass and her hair was thick as hell. It was gorgeous. She had a tighter curl than beyonce she told us it ran in her family. Her mom and grandmother all had crazy thick hair. She is was full black too and was just a high school student from small town in NY. I think she was just raised to embrace her natural hair as a young age from her mother and grandmother. Yes. I have light skin and 4 something hair that breaks before shoulder lenght. My sister is very dark and her hair is waist lenght. I use heat and she doen't. But She uses color and I don't. When we were kids, and both with natural hair, her hair just grew like crazy. She keept her natural curl all her like, but colors her hair and it looks amazing. I used relaxers, heat, and did all the wrong things. But we had to learn to style our hair às children because my parents would not let us use weave or braided extensions. I don't care about lenght. I just want to style my natural hair without help. So I don't relax my hair but I do use heat. I like my shoulder lenght. It is manageble and somethimes I do a bob or rock a pixie cut for a while. My sister is the opposite, she loves her curly natural hair super long and she rocks it. Just love your hair and do whatever works for you. Whether it is relaxed, flat ironed, natural, braided. Just do what works for you.

@@NinaNoFlex To be honest, I really don't have a regimen. I used to straighten my hair everyday for yearssss and wondered why it would never grow. I stopped straightening it and started to braid it regularly. So what I basically do is wash my hair with regular shampoo (doesn't have to be anything fancy), then while its damp, i put oil on it and then braid it. The key is to seal in the moisture (water) while the hair is damp. A lot of people use oil on DRY hair but that doesn't benefit the hair. Water = moisture, and the oil seals in the moisture which then prevents it from breaking. Hope this helps sis lol

Some Black women have been running from their own hair and their whole lives. They never learned what it needs, what you shouldn't do to it. Most of us started getting perms at as young as 3 years old. Black women were raised to hide their kinks whilst Black men get to wear afros and high top fades proudly. It sucks. I have relaxed 21 inches long hair & I take care of it. I don't go to the hair salon because most of them are thought to perm your hair every month, I perm my hair every 3 months because of how much inches your hair grow per month. 1 month is not enough months to retouch your hair because there is not enough inches of new growth to perm without getting perm on your hair that is already perm, which then causes over processed hair & damage.

I've always really loved natural black hair-- the texture, the poof, the curls in random places, the spongyness, the thickness, when its healthy its soooo gorgeous and really stands out. Black kinks and curls are the sacred spiral, the fibonacci. I cant speak for black culture, or pretend to understand the hair culture, but personally, I'm relieved and happy that the emerging natural hair movement is showing little girls to grow up with well deserved self love, and not hate, for themselves and their hair.

Scientists proved that Black hair has the best quality sebum out of all races. The problem is getting the sebum to travel down the hair shaft for hair growth.

    •  5 ปีที่แล้ว +13

1st sentence was factual. The next one was inaccurate. Sebum does nothing but coat the hair when it reaches the tail end. The scalp is responsible for hair growth, the hair shaft is responsible for hair retention.

I agree. Im european in my country every girl has thick shiny hair. I have extremely thin hair. I dont even know who i got it from because everyone in my family has normal hair. But since i was a kid this was my biggest insecurity. Im obsessed with hair to a point the first thing i look on other people is their hair and how i envy them. But no matter what i do ill never hair thick hair .. i used to always have extensions in my hair and it made my hair even weaker. Now i dont wear extensions anymore dont use all those fake products im always trimming and its a little better. I accepted that ill never hair long hair my goal is a healthy one. Even though ive always wanted real long hair. Sometimes i feel like im not woman enough because i dont have nice hair. Like it determines my femininity. Its hard because big hair is all over the media but we have to understand that there is so much more value to a woman than her hair.
