Really awesome video. I am doing research to try and find the right surf town for me in costa rica. I'm 57 and used to surf when I was a younger man. I'm looking for a chill beach town with all the basic amenities. I loved your room it's completely setup for surfing. I would rent a board while there. Thanks for your vid I'm loving this town

Thanks! We really enjoyed and would 100% recommend. Especially if you're looking to get back into surfing. The beach break is really forgiving, consistent, and can accommodate surfers of all skill levels. Plenty of other surf breaks in the area as well. Nosara could be a great home base. If you have any specific questions let us know!

Which rental car did you guys choose? Was it intermediate, standard, or full size? Heading to Nosara in a few weeks and will probably rent through Vamos!
Also, how is that last section of road that I've heard is pothole ridden? Does it get any worse than what you show in the video? We are arriving later in the day so would be driving at night.

Hi - I believe we rented the Standard SUV. Was enough room to put my 6' boards in, but anything bigger, I would have needed to tie down on the roof (FYI if you're bringing boards.) Vamos had great customer service and made the process super easy! Yeah - the roads got pretty bad (worse than the video showed). The locals seem to drive right through it but I didn't want to risk a popped tire. My advice would just be to pay attention and drive really slow when you get to those parts. It's not necessarily a huge distance, it's just takes so long because you have to drive so slow. Also - i'd recommend downloading the map data for your GPS on your phone as service could be spotty. Drive slow and pay attention and you should be fine!

I think when I went there, it was a moment in history when a certain substance was too cheap, too tempting, too available. And, it turned the traveling crowd in the area into zombies. I left and went S somewhere else where i Stayed for 5 weeks happily. Guiones Looks better now. Maybe I will give it a chance, it has good surf.

Where did you go for 5 weeks? We honestly didn't notice much of any certain substance... very family friendly! And, the surf was good everyday! 100% want to go back!

Saludos y pura vida 😊

    Bring the wallet
Still my favorite place but overrun with rich kinda dooshie crowd post covid...they need to assimilate not try to assimilate the town...

I would agree - bring the wallet and expect to pay US prices. Some people assume Costa Rica is "cheap" .... maybe if you know the right areas? I didn't think the crowds were that bad - considering I had never been before!

I agree about this place in particular. Those people keep to themselves, in a creepy way, don't bother to learn Spanish, are very clique-ish, and are not short on Attitude. I could tell stories, but I will not. Suffice it to say, Many Nosara Expats from the USA are from sketchy backgrounds. Even Landowners. I will leave it at that.
