On My Way Back?: A Recovery Jog

- I was so pleased with this 5.3 mile jog from Great Tey to Chappel and back. I deliberately kept to roads, not wanting to risk twisting my knee. No problems during or after the jog and since then I have done a couple of slow runs, the longest was 10k. Hoping I am getting back and can risk a short trail run soon.

So glad to see you again Pete. I've been busy and it's always refreshing to see your vids. Happy you are up and about.
So great to see you doing a bit of running Pete! 77!? I can't believe that! You're looking good Pete! 💪 I hope the recovery after that run went well mate! Look to see you running again soon. 😎🤘
Thanks Ben. Yes recovery was good. Two days later, I managed to jog for 10k. Still very slow and careful on road surfaces only, but it is great to get out again. Take care mate.
@@essextrails great news mate! Long may the running continue! 😎🤘
Glad you’ve been able to get out to run again Peter. You’ve done well to be a runner for so long and never been to see a physio. I’ve never seen one either and just tend to see how things heal on their own.
Lovely route past the viaduct too, reminded me of a section of my Peak District run last year.
Hope you get to enjoy some more runs soon 🙂
Hi Rachel. I am not surprised that you haven't been to a physio either. I know that, like me, you are more or less self taught and self reliant when it comes to running and injuries. I am happy to be able to tell you that I jogged for 6.5 miles this morning with only a slight knee twinge after 5.5 miles. Definitely improving. Hope you and Rory have recovered from the cold. Keep up the good work.
Stopping to water the plants 😅 A sign of a good outing when you have to do that!
I also like a bit of Google self diagnosis. Physios are over rated 😅 The most useful thing about my physio visit was watching my running firm on a treadmill and getting some feedback on that.
Great to see you progressing with the recovery mate 👍🏻
Thanks Mark. Rather frequent stops to water the plants these days I am afraid. I guess that partly explains the luxuriant growth of foliage along my usual routes. I really was getting a bit desparate and was seriously considering a physio, but I have seen some definite improvement lately. Shudder to think what analysis of my running gait would reveal. Hope all is good with you mate.
Good to see you back running Peter. Hope the injury continues to heal well 👍 All the best
Hi Matt. The knee is certainly improving. I have to be very careful that I don't fall over on it or twist it suddenly; I have been reluctant to get back on the trails but I hope to do so soon. Thanks for watching and the comment. All the best.
Well done Peter!! Have you had a bad knee? 😂❤😊
Thanks Janice. Couldn't rememeber if I told you that I have had a bad knee. X
Sorry pushed wrong button.!! Hope your knee is OK after that run. Looking forward to seeing you at Emma's bar b que. Love to you. Xxx
Yes it was really good to get back to it. Did a slow 10k (6.2 miles to old people) at the weekend so was very happy. Hope you are both well, I am looking forward to seeing you both at the BBQ. X
