This was really helpful and kinda ironic. We are considering Starlink when we are traveling in our Escape 5.0. I wanted to see how to set up the newer Starlink outside. I also really like how you set up your router to 12V. We live in Tulsa and DD is one of our favorite close campgrounds.
I use the genIII backpack and the add-a-plug router upgrade to employ a mesh system (Deco). At races and big events I can broadcast to 20+ devices 60+ yards. AC is required
Starlink has added a residential lite subscription which is less cheaper than the residential sub... 50-100mb/s which is very good for individual use.. ❤🇬🇭
Does the gen 3 dish need to be put into stow mode before powering down or can I just unplug it? Basically I’m trying to figure out the best way to turn it off when I want to move camping spots. Thanks
Quick question, what router would you recommend to use with the Mini? We have a 5th wheel and my concern is having to place the DISH so far away from the Camper I will lose signal. I have an Ethernet cable and Starlink connection for it.
If you don’t need advanced networking features (like cellular backup), I would just plug in a Starlink Gen 3 router. It meshes with the Mini router automatically when connected via Ethernet (you plug it into the dish port on the Gen 3 router). The Gen 3 router performs really well, and allows you to maintain your warranty and tech support from Starlink for the whole system.
I didn't notice how you are turning off/on the 12V feed to the DishyNOAC device. Is that on a fused feed from the battery? Do you have LiFePO or lead acid?
It’s wired to a 15A fused circuit that turns on with the main battery switch in the Scamp. So it just turns on anytime the battery is available. It’s lead acid.
Do you know if the Starlink Mini can be used with a home / residential (stationary) plan, or is it limited to only being used with the ROAM plan? I can't find any information on Starlink's website regarding that aspect.
It’s only for Roam plans in the US. Can’t be paired with the Residential plan. Depends on your country, though. In some markets the Mini is available on a cheaper Residential plan.
Why are download speeds slow in some or most countries? A few months ago, the speed was up to 600MB. Are there upcoming updates that solve the speed problem? 😮💨
It’s basically how many other users are in the area. In countries with a surge of new users getting online, speeds will slow until more satellites are active. In this video, the low speed is mainly due to the Roam plan and trees. I’ve gotten 300 Mbps on this plan and dish before with a clear sky.
Yes you could run it off of the AC outlet on the Top Off. There are also adapters out there that allow you to run the Mini directly off of a Milwaukee battery.
How do you put the Starlink Gen 3 Dish into a stow mode. For example, do i unplug the power supply first. Or put the dish on a flat surface, then unplug it. What do I do. Pls help.
For the motorized dishes you can hit stow in the app. It’s under settings. Needs to be powered on. You can also flip it upside down on its face while powered on and it will stow. After it stows you can unplug the cable from the dish or power off the router.
@@StarlinkHardware Same here, since I got the Mini and have a Gen2 that's worthless to sell. I'm doing the same with both on 50GB plan. It's cheaper to pay overages , with pausing as needed, than keep unlimited.

I wish it was available in the US, I would switch in a heartbeat for my main home unit!
@StarlinkHardware 😄😄 $30 unlimited, no speed and data cap for monthly.

is this the STANDARD TO STANDARD ACTUATED MOUNT ADAPTER?!
Yep, kind of! It’s the “Standard X-Frame Base” kit which consists of the X-Frame and the adapter.
Can i run the starlink mini off my milwaukee top off?

@StarlinkHardware awesome! Thanks for the info man

Ok thank you
Is there a reason you don't just use the Starlink Mini on 12 volt?
I keep the Mini in my other vehicle at the moment for in-motion use.
@@StarlinkHardware I plan to do the same!
