Base MSRP is $34,700 for SR XTra Cab 4x4 as seen here
That’s mental
That’s not even accounting for all the added dealer BS. You’re better off getting a V6 4x4 S Frontier for less which can tow almost 2x as much as this.
I’ll take a proven N.A. v6 before turbo 4’s.
I remember when I was looking, the trd off-roads were going for under 35k otd
And they were still made in America back then
I have a 2013 SR5 Xtra Cab 2x4 that’s been great. I’ve been looking at the 2023 SR Xtra Cab 4x4s in my area. A few dealers are selling the 2023 models for $29,000 plus tax. Still expensive but not sure if the 2024 models are worth the extra $5,000.
Check out Carmax. I got a 2022 2wd Access Cab, base model just like the one in the video. Paid $27
with 13k miles@@Learnmoretoday59
This is basically the only 4th gen Tacoma that truly interests me but the lack of access doors on the access cab is a real bummer.
at least its more rigid without the doors 😁
Need that missing door
Least one door for the driver side.
The back seats in my SR have come in handy even if only used a dozen or so times. I open my back doors all the time for loading groceries and stuff. This seems like a step backwards, and for more money. :(
Deleting the rear doors was probably a retro nostalgic thing - UTTERLY STUPID IDEA
Agreed. My sx has the back doors and I love them. Maybe I’ll just add a turbo kit and save 13k for the difference.
Why would Toyota get rid of the clam shell doors? Literally one of the best features of the access cab.
Extra Cab is NOT an improvement. So glad I bought my ‘23 V6 2WD SR Access Cab. All that storage is useless if it’s a pain in the rear to get to.
Glad to see Toyota didn't go the way every other manufacturer goes and make the base model look like an absolute dumpster fire. Looks simple yet good!
Maaaaannnnn this is a 25k truck before c🦠vid
more like high 20’s
I like the utility wheels but I don't like that the access cab has no doors. Appears to be hard to access
I guess that's why it's called an XtraCab now and not an Access Cab..Taking it back to the Toyota Pickup/early Tacoma days
I liked it when it had some extra seats in the back like the old Tacoma's
at least it’ll be more body rigidity without the doors 😊
@tinhinnh I'm referring to the Tacomas from the early 90's, only 2 doors, but still had some extra seats in the back just for emergency use.

If they just sold this for something reasonable like $20k I’d be all for it. But these things are overpriced at every trim level
Worth every penny tbh
Inflation is a b#tch ain't it?
$20k 🤣 this aint 2003, even a base corolla cost more than that
Quality has been going down on these. The Mexico production is suspect.
Those days are long gone, it's 2023 not 2003 lol
No sliding rear window on the 2024?
35K for this thing is crazy ☠️
I really like this extra cab truck, if everything is reliable on these over next few years I can see me keeping my 2023 Tacoma off road double cab that’s loaded, and buying this truck in 4x4 bare bones, then buying good AT tires like Goodyear duratrac tires and removing the chin spoiler and it being a perfect truck. I love the lockable storage in the back, I would love that for hunting, and when going on hiking trips in the mountains.
You’d be better off buying a 22-23 and save the money for the mods.
I like the base model.
I assume this Toyota truck is assembled in Mexico??
I LOVE my 2023 Tacoma SR Double Cab. Not sure if I want to get the new gen after my lease is up
It's good to see Toyota is still offering a base work truck.
For $35,000!
Yeah I know, I remember when you could buy a base Chevrolet S10 4 cylinder manual trans for under 10K.
I bought a new Sonoma in 92 for $10,200 even had the small V6 .... times have surely changed
Do you have the MPG & MSRP breakdown per model and package/option cost?
$19,999
We need there UTE they debued in Aisa.
Only thing ill miss with the 2024 is the AC half doors. Its quite nice having them on my 2021. So much potential for a tradesmen work truck.
I see what you mean. I think people will be 50-50 on the half door vs no door here. I'd love to see what everyone thinks who watches this. Have a great rest of your week! Jeff
the suicide doors help tremendously when loading equipment and tools. Besides that just imagine trying to load a ice cooler back there 😂
@@ToyotajeffAbsolutely not a fan of deleting the Access doors. I use them all the time, and I find I have much more useable interior cargo capacity than a Double Cab purely by opening the Access door.
@@anthony445 I think Toyota intends the fold flat front passenger seat to provide the access now. It's not the same though!
This is a great truck! It looks the best of all the new 2024 Tacomas. I wish it was available with the more powerful engine, but you have to upgrade to the SR5 trim for that. Great review!
Is SR something you'd consider? Would you go XTra Cab or move up to Double Cab? Jeff
Double Cab and a much higher trim level.
I would go xtra can this exact model is all I would need .
Will Toyota continue to offer a SX package for the SR models as it did in the past?
I’ve got my 2023 Chevy Colorado already but this Tacoma looks really nice. Truly an awesome thing all the manufacturers coming out at the same time with all brand new midsize trucks.
Needs the missing door at lest on the drivers side
I would be all over this, but not having a driver side access door could be a deal killer for me.
One of the best things about the gen 3 extended cab was those suicide doors they made it a breeze to get stuff in and out and mine is and sr so i have the sliding rear window and though I'm not much for power windows and stuff i would use mine all the time if ìt where power but the sr the only model that only offers manual and you can't reach it from the front i know i would end up leaving it open but it comes in handy picking up 8 foot lumber so it doesn't hang out the back of the six foot bed my gen 3 is a 2017 and I've only gt 32000 miles on it so I'm hoping it one of those half million mile jobs so far all I've replaced the tires
I would buy one with a 7' bed and hybrid/naturally aspirated. I like the cab itself but without the mpg's I'd buy a Maverick.
Jeff, I worry when I see you doing a 'walkaround' on the edge of a cliff! 🤣
I was waiting and looking forward to the all new Tacoma then to my surprise and I’m sure to many others, No rear access doors. I think Toyota made a really big mistake deleting them. If you have a heavy toolbox in the back let’s see how easy it will be trying to get it out from the cheap looking back area. Sure, you could move the seat forward but it was easier with the access doors. I can only imagine who came up with the decision to delete the rear access doors. Some knucklehead I’m sure. I’m glad Nissan still offers the King Cab. So I’ll pass on this new Tacoma pickup truck.
Yup. Trucks are no longer utility vehicles for people who make their living with them. They are overpriced status symbols.
The suicide doors and the 5 speed manual plus a 6 foot bed sold me on my 2017 it's the perfect p/u for the city I've had full size trucks and that extra length required at least two and a half car space to get a truck that size in eventually you will be able to do it if you can find a big enough opening but you have to be quick or the traffic will start backing up behind you and city drivers don't have alot of patience another thing is the streets are narrow and some are still two way and I've seen some wild fights over spaces in the winter.
Perfect! This trim is for me, I will go double cab, dont like the bells and whistles, but I would love a different locker
Too expensive and I'm not interested in a turbo. Thanks for the review.
I have shopped a YETI at Dick's Sporting Goods, and yes, it's quite expensive.
Its back!
Yetis are expensive as we are talking about a $40,000 plus work truck lol
Does it have that stupid auto start/stop when you come to a stop light?
$35k plus tax for steelies
A big step backwards with no access door. Sure people use the back for cargo, but they still want to be able to load and unload that cargo.
I appreciate the fact that Toyota keeps an "open" concept to the engine bay. Everything is easy to access for maintenance and replacement. (battery, fluids etc..) Most manufacturers cover everything with plastic and shove stuff into fenderwells.
For a base truck, the SR Extracab is really nice. this could be a great truck for people buying their first truck.
yep, its a better value than the sr5 even in 4x2 is almost 5 grand more
It would be if they kept the rear doors from last year's model and didn't raise the price 7 grand.
The wheels are so ugly, would have been nice if they would have carried over the SR wheels from the previous gen . Also the fact that the back doors are fixed really sucks. I work out of a 2022 SR and use the back half door daily to get out tools. It will be a chore to let the seat up just to get tools.
I can see how that would be a pain!
I actually love them. It's a throwback to the classic wheels on the Toyota Pickup from the 90s.
It’s a work truck not a show off truck
I like these “commercial” look steelies than the last gen’s
It would look great with gloss black trd wheels
After sales tax and hidden fees your looking at around $41,000 for a bottom level Tacoma with steel wheels, automatic transmission, and cloth seats, hardly affordable, their crazy!!! Back in 1993 I bought an Xtra cab Toyota pickup with V6 and manual transmission for $16,000, and in 2002 I bought a Tacoma with a V6, manual transmission, and aluminum factory wheels for $24,000. And right now where I live somebody is selling a white 2019 Tacoma TRD Pro, fully loaded with V6, manual transmission, black leather interior, black aluminum TRD wheels, with 278 HP and 54,000 miles for $31,000.Why would anyone buy that bottom level one for $10,000 more when you could have that TRD Pro. Which one would you rather have?
Thanks for the video, Jeff. Is the SR model available as a hybrid? Not long ago there was a lot of talk about Toyota releasing a small hybrid truck to compete with the Ford Maverick. What’s the latest news?
It’s still just rumor at this point.
No the SR will not be hybrid
hybrid SR would cost more fo’ sure
@@tinhinnh good thing there isn’t one :)
maybe the stout will be hybrid
Can you get this model with a/c power in the the bed?
Very squishy....Very comfortable. And the seats ain't bad either. 😀😀😀
Toyota usually doesn't fk up,, but they did by eliminating the access door to the back, wth was they thinking
Just change those wheels and its good.
Was that a non-dampened tailgate I see? I wonder if that’s a pre production thing.
Cost $15 on eBay
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏Good review Jeffffffffffff
Do the back doors open?!!!!
Really don't understand the packaging here...2 seats and no rear doors for what reason exactly? No manual on Xtra cabs makes no sense either, the type of person who would want one of these, would definitely want a manual. I think 35k for this is pretty damn steep just like the rest of the 2024 lineup, they are banking on customer loyalty but idk I think this generation will be a case study in how to lose market share. The Tacoma costs more than any other midsize truck, is worse on fuel, down on power and essentially the same price as a fullsize truck
What back seat
Does this have a real emergency brake or one of those electronic ones.
Electronic. He mentions it in the video
@@ronsimmsfan2661 I guess I missed that. Another way to ruin the new cars!
No more suicidal doors ? I think this are a mistake.
Not crazy about the wheel design. Certainly miss the Access Cab, and the sliding windows. The truck cleats are galvanize, not rust proof. Suggest painting it over with black enamel paint to minimize rusting. Miss the old storage space compartment on the left side of the deck. No Visor mirrors. Engine hood is very light as compared to my heavier 2019 Access Cab. Tailgate drops too fast. My 2019 Access Cab dropped slowly, hands free. Front spoiler on the 2024 can be removed for a different frontal look. High resolution backup camera on my 2024 compared to my 2019 Access Cab. Sadly with the 2024, cant carry passengers behind the front seats. Plus and minuses between the two. No more CD player. Well, CDs for sale anyone?
I like it 😘
Double cab 4x4 SR I’m guessing $37ish?
I like the steely wheels
What happened to the four door access design? Keep it. I don't like it. My 2020 SR is so much nicer.
I appreciate your informative vids, but I gotta be honest…
The 2024 Tacomas look ugly to me and the 4 cylinder turbo is a bummer as well 🤔.
That V6 will be missed. 🛻
No, I appreciate your feedback. Everyone is going to feel differently about changes coming to all vehicles.
@@Toyotajeff - A lot of 2024 vehicles look funky to me. (Like the 2024 mustang for example).
They look like they were designed by A.I. and not people lol.
I’m just glad I got 2023 Tacoma TRD off road & your vids helped with that decision 👍🥂☮️
xtracab seems pretty good to me.
I'll go for older gen. of Tacoma
maybe in Canada were the same truck in Canada is 30% less than the trucks in America, if its built in America why are we paying more for the same truck that is in Canada
This is way better than maverick, I get why toyota does not want unibody truck, buy a better truck that is better. Maverick is overpriced SUV
def more practical and robust than the mav
My 22 Frontier S 4x4 beats it hands down.
Hate the electronic brake.
Ill bet a few years down the road the access doors come back
Hopefully the STOUT will come to the US Market, that looks way better than this, and has four doors. I am big no on this.
It’s a bargain, should be 50k
For $35,000, you couldve gotten an SR tundra in 2021.
Yeah all seats slide
Could the Instrumentation look any cheaper. Total yuk. The new YUKOMA is here.
The problem is finding one.
And down on power from the rest of the lineup.
It looks so plain and stripped down. Not my cup of tea. TRD Sport OR 4X4 is more my liking.
If you’re concerned about value you’re better off getting a used taco better equipped for a lot cheaper than this base
It has 2 less doors and is 7k more expensive. What a real price of sh!t
Was that your piss bottle ?
No blind spot monitoring SMH
Looks cheap and not practical they only offer the extended cab in 2wd too
No access doors.
No V6.
No thank you.
Those are some ugly tires
Have always been a Ford fan however this works better than the new Ranger and love the cab configuration. The new Ranger is available only as a four door so its a pass for me.
Looks better
Umm…was that pee in the water bottle in the center console??!!😂
Bwaaahahahaha well it was a long road trip. BUT it was really water with peach mango crystal light in it :)
No seat belts in back so not a seat. I would like no storage units in the back, a place for my dog now for me useless. It also needs better tires and manual transmission.
They should make a camper version again 😊
perfect in every way for what I need. The more electronics on a vehicle, the more room for failures. Only the price seems prohibitive. But wow, yeah, the configuration is perfect (single older guy who only makes 1-2 cross country drives a year). It might better as a lease option, dunno for sure. Keep singin' those tunes Jeff!
Love it! When can I get it?
Well, it’s June and there about 20 available national wide. 😂
