This is so real. I wish I had watched this video in my childhood when I was ashamed of my family's economical situation. And was embarrassed to let my friends know. Now I don't feel like that anymore. I have accepted it a few years back.
I know this. I see this. I think our schools are doing a terrible job of teaching our children what actually matters. Even I come from a middle class family. I have friends from all social strata. But however a person is born into isn't anyone's fault and every person and family have their shares of ups and downs, sacrifices and choices. There is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Or be arrogant about either. So what if someone's company pays more or their business has flourished more? To koi kya kare? It's perfectly fine. As long as we are moving sincerely and dedicatedly forward. And working for our goals. That's what makes a "class". Theres so much wrong with how people associate money with respect. And affluence with dignity. Whereas they are individual and almost exclusive parameters.

This is how exactly majority people in India have their homes ! Mine, majority of my life was the exact same... just a few yrs back as Papa's salary increased with did our home little by little. & Trust me majority Indian mothers are like Dolly's adorable mom...my mum's the same, who has worn a saree all her life, has simple hair do of her naturally curly hair. This video was sooo the real me... social media makes us want all kinds of fancy things, filling our heads with some serious insecurities,but seriously I love my home for what it is just like this girl who showed us around her house without inhibitions. Just because a house doesn't have huge chandeliers hanging from its ceiling, or modern lighting or huge french windows or modular stuff all around...it doesn't make it any less advanced...it still is a home. Post Independence majority of India has had financial crisis, I have even the richest buddies today who say that their grandparents and parents didn't have any of the luxuries that they have today....thus all.of us lived in such homes...which really were beautiful...they had a homely vibe not like the showrooms that people these days tend to make of their homes.

My home used to be exactly like yours. I still remember id feel embarrassed when I had to bring my friends to my place. But as I grew up I embraced everything I own Coz at the end it's where we come from. Today you taught me how in the world of materialism how important it is to remember who you are instilled in me to stick to my roots
Same!! I used to feel that way from time to time too but then I realised that my parents have worked day and night to provide for us and not being proud of that and being even 1% embarrassed is a disservice to their hardwork.

I normally don’t comment on videos but this is just really beautiful. The way you look at your house makes it so much more beautiful than any fancy house. The laughter and love is what makes it a home. Also the fact that your house is as cultural and full of faith which is most of our houses in sub-continent. There's a vast difference between real world and virtual world :) by seeing photos of such influencers it would make you complex that you're so middle class , their room is so decorated and all, once you visit their home personally you will find out, their homes are even smaller than ours!!! I've seen, only Kritika khurana or sejal Kumar , Ashish chanchlani , harsh beniwal vwho are from very well to do family otherwise mostly TH-camrs are even having smaller homes than mine, except bhuvan bam or prajakta kohli who brought their homes from their own money!!! Nowadays, people misunderstood those people as rich who show offs :)
If you embrace it yourself, no one has the power to embarrass or belittle you. For a long time, (even now honestly), I've been extremely embarrassed of where I come from. Despite both my parents working really hard all their lives, we never could rise above financially. And I look rich, which makes it worse because I've always associated with the rich crowd and always had rich friends but I was so stressed when they asked me anything about my personal life. I felt so guilty of being ashamed of my family and home. This video was a like a hard wake up call that you can be so much more only if you allow yourself to be real. I remember subscribing to her channel after watching this video and I'm so happy that she's got a new house for her parents. This girl is talented and deserves all the goodness she gets and much more.
This is how exactly majority people in India have their homes ! Mine, majority of my life was the exact same... just a few yrs back as Papa's salary increased with did our home little by little.
& Trust me majority Indian mothers are like Dolly's adorable mom...my mum's the same, who has worn a saree all her life, has simple hair do of her naturally curly hair. This video was sooo the real me... social media makes us want all kinds of fancy things, filling our heads with some serious insecurities,but seriously I love my home for what it is just like this girl who showed us around her house without inhibitions. India today,atleast to me, is no more a so called *"not so advanced country"*....their are rural areas for sure...but they have their own beauty.
Just because a house doesn't have huge chandeliers hanging from its ceiling, or modern lighting or huge french windows or modular stuff all around...it doesn't make it any less advanced...it still is a home.
Post Independence majority of India has had financial crisis, I have even the richest buddies today who say that their grandparents and parents didn't have any of the luxuries that they have today....thus all.of us lived in such homes...which really were beautiful...they had a homely vibe not like the showrooms that people these days tend to make of their homes.

Currently I live in a house which is two 3BHK apartments attached together...
I never said "upper class" people don't belong to India...
I said majority of us have lived in such homes at some point of time or the other in our lives...and feel good about the same..as Dolly says it is not a fancy home..! Home needn't have fancy stuff and still feel home & one can have the best memories and time their.

My home used to be exactly like yours. I still remember id feel embarrassed when I had to bring my friends to my place. But as I grew up I embraced everything I own Coz at the end it's where we come from. Today you taught me how in the world of materialism how important it is to remember who you are instilled in me to stick to my roots

Same!! I used to feel that way from time to time too but then I realised that my parents have worked day and night to provide for us and not being proud of that and being even 1% embarrassed is a disservice to their hardwork.

I normally don’t comment on videos but this is just really beautiful. The way you look at your house makes it so much more beautiful than any fancy house. The laughter and love is what makes it a home. Also the fact that your house is as cultural and full of faith which is most of our houses in sub-continent. I am from Pakistan and a muslim but some how this just made so much sense, i felt like this was my home.

There's a vast difference between real world and virtual world :) by seeing photos of such influencers it would make you complex that you're so middle class , their room is so decorated and all, once you visit their home personally you will find out, their homes are even smaller than ours!!! I've seen, only Kritika khurana or sejal Kumar , Ashish chanchlani , harsh beniwal vwho are from very well to do family otherwise mostly TH-camrs are even having smaller homes than mine, except bhuvan bam or prajakta kohli who brought their homes from their own money!!! Nowadays, people misunderstood those people as rich who show offs :)

If you embrace it yourself, no one has the power to embarrass or belittle you. For a long time, (even now honestly), I've been extremely embarrassed of where I come from. Despite both my parents working really hard all their lives, we never could rise above financially. And I look rich, which makes it worse because I've always associated with the rich crowd and always had rich friends but I was so stressed when they asked me anything about my personal life. I felt so guilty of being ashamed of my family and home. This video was a like a hard wake up call that you can be so much more only if you allow yourself to be real. Thank you, Dolly, you're awesome!!
