    So, I got the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro. Which is very similar to the ultra in terms of the overall build. I was surprised to hear that screen wabble was an issue for you. I hadn't noticed that at all on mine. I have been using it on secure table top surfaces, so maybe that was the difference. Screen glare is an issue for sure. And I have also had a couple instances of accidental touchpad inputs when typing. Not many, this isn't a constant issue, but it has happened.

    Andrew, you always seem to comment negatively about the glossy displays being too reflective. You need to make sure and say that this is only your opinion or preference. I actually can't stand the grainy/blurry effect that matte displays have, and very strongly prefer the glossy displays because they are much more crisp. I am using my laptops at home where it has normal soft lighting so I don't get any reflections on my screen.

  • @sarrum7696
    @sarrum7696 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I'd like to add a small side note about the speakers and audio performance. I got the Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Pro, and my initially I was disappointed by the speakers. However, I was able to make them sound much better by using the included Dolby software and tuning the EQ in one of the available custom save profiles. - Don't misunderstand, by no means am I defending it. If I could spend some time with the EQ and get it to sound better, then shame on Samsung for not doing the same.

    • @TheMxa77
      @TheMxa77 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sound depends on personal taste, so as long as there are options to modify the sound quality and tone, then they've done it right.

    For being probably the only real review currently out there with the device on-hand and tested, thanks for staying objective. I think all your criticisms about it were totally fair. Christ Almighty, that screen wobble looks annoying. And I already have my Galaxy Book 3 Ultra on order, so I guess I'll find out for myself how much I'm able to tolerate soon enough...
    I do love the fact that it isn't susceptible to thermal throttling.

  • @lvseka
    @lvseka ปีที่แล้ว +5

    1. Fix the screen wobble
    2. Remove the numpad and dedicate that space to better speakers
    3. Slightly increase the keyboard size while simultaneously reducing the trackpad size
    4. Make a 64GB variant possible
    5. Maybe reduce the chin size a little bit
    6. Possibly look into a 14inch variant of the same
    Then I think we'd have a near perfect professional laptop for windows users.

    Hello! Thank you for your review. I was wondering if you could help me check how the PWM (pulse-width modulation) works on the device. I noticed that some reviews seem to claim that there is no PWM below 50%, but they don't mention how they tested it. If it's not too much trouble, could you possibly film the screen at different brightness levels to show how the PWM manifests? Pertaining your phone camera has a high fps mode. Thank you

    Much to like with this one but given its price I wouldn't want to give up the Windows 11 Hello IR camera capability. Sound was good enough for me as I use headphones/ear buds mostly.
    I can see where the display wobble could get on the nerves of a high speed typist.
    Great that it has two NVMe slots and that the stock version has PCIe 4 performance!
    Thanks for a great review Andrew.

    I don't know if it was that serious of an issue on the older models, but there were a lot of cases, specifically with the 360 models, that the screen would crack with nothing done to it. Some posted pictures with no impact points. Just a crack usually in the center. The reason I believe it really only affected the 360 models the past two years is because there was nothing protecting the glass. When you closed the laptops, it was just glass sitting on the keyboard. The regular pro models had at least some space between the screen and where it closed.
    This year, it seems there is glass on the entire front on both models with no borders at the end. I wish it had small borders like the Dell XPS. So let's watch out for that cracking issue.
    I have a Dell XPS 15. What I would have liked to see on this Galaxy Book was:
    -Anti glare display.
    -Tiny borders.
    -Less screen wobble. (My XPS has pretty much done.)

    It is a real shame that the only thing you can upgrade on this otherwise nice laptop is the SSD. That is why if I was purchasing this I would spec it out with the 32GB version. Everything else from the 1080p webcam, the 16:10 display although very glossy , the internal mic and the AKG speaker quality is great, however, there's no comparison when it comes to the Apple MacBook Pro when it comes to the speaker audio quality so I agree with you on that Andrew. Another thing I'm not crazy about is the screen wobble and the fact that the Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra is also a fingerprint magnet!! In conclusion, what I would say is that if you're willing to put up with the negatives, I would get this so it will all come to an individual decision but I would pass on this. Brilliant review Andrew as your videos are always chock full of very valuable info. 👏😁

    The hinge is plastic trying to hold together two large, aluminum shells. Because of this, separation is guaranteed after around a year of use even when treated like a newborn baby. To fix this, Samsung charges $1200 for the display alone, not counting time and labor. As someone who owns this thing, it's not worth it, nor can I say the same to the copy/paste 4 Ultra, which is practically the same laptop. Avoid Samsung's Ultra laptop line until they can engineer a proper hinge. Save yourself the lost time and money and get something that's built properly.

    Hi Andrew! Really appreciate your reviews and content. I am currently an engineering student and need to run programs like CAD and solidworks, so I was looking for a laptop to buy. I settled for the asus zenbook 14 oled after your review, but saw that for everyday tasks the battery life was lacking 6-7 hours or even less. I was considering switching to the samsung galaxybook ultra(i7,4050), as I heard good reviews about battery and do not need the excessive i9 and 4060. Which one you would recommend for me ?

      @dave4858 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have the I9 and 4070 version, and I use it for SolidEdge every day. I had no problem managing massive assemblies, but not on battery. For light usage, I usually got around 8 hours of screen time. If battery time is important for you, I do not recommend the GBU.

      @@dave4858 thank you for the reply! which one would you recommend though for engineering? the zen book pro 14 oled(i9 4060) or the samsung galaxy book ultra(i7,4050)? also would a 14 or 16 inch be better in engineering?

    Will it support external displays at higher refresh rates (120Hz or higher assuming the monitor supports it)? I know HDMI 2.0 port won't.... but wondering about USBC and the graphics support of the laptop itself...

    Was hoping the webcam would have Samsung-Galaxy-Phone level quality, rather disappointed that it does not. It's "good for a laptop webcam" but their phone webcams are basically perfect.

    OMG! That's impressive, but the price a little salty, but, I think it's also honest, cause I just paid 1889€ for a New Dell XPS 15 9520 which was on offer, and using student offer too. Honestly I'm happy with it, but even The new Galaxy book 3 ultra sound Great.🤩😍

      The XPS, and Thinkpad X1 or P1 should be comparable though these might be more expensive. The only XPS I can picture with a 4070 will probably be the 17 inch and that will be more expensive. The X1 with discount could be better, the thing is that Samsung runs a lot of sales and cash back. Plus better discount if you are or have a student at home.

    I was going to book one order today but the screenwobble, and the big touchpad that also are unsymetric was the dealbreakers for me. I type a lot in Microsoft Word and use a mouse instead of the touchpad, i usually laying down when i type. So the dream would be smallest possible touchpad and bigger keyboard and no numeric keyboard.

      The touch pad is centered on the keyboard, just not including the number pad. As far as screen wobble goes. I have the GB3Ultra and the screen doesn't wobble when I'm using the laptop. I think the only time wobble would be an issue is if you are using the laptop on a train.

    Why is the touchpad shifted to the left-why not just centre it like all macbooks and surface laptops- don't Samsung ( and other laptop manufacturers understand that 90% of the population are right handed and therefore touchpads centred to the left make it awkward .

    • @WatDoino
      @WatDoino 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It’s because of the num pad. Most typist use the keyboard without glancing down. So it makes sense to centre your palms underneath the letters, that’s why they offset the trackpad. Is it practical in the real world? I doubt it. I’m sure Samsung has done their own research. The bum pad itself could be an issue if you’re not used to it being so close to the return/enter key.
