As of 2023 that’s a no go Joe 😂 I shouldn’t say that but when you get into a lot of the more special cards between Gym challenge and Gym Heroes like Blaine’s Charizard and Blaine’s Moltres and Erika’s Venusaur, Rocket’s Mewtwo, Misty’s Gyrados, Giovanni’s Gyrados, they are definitely more pricey as compared to Brock’s Rhydon, Misty’s Golduck, Koga’s Ditto. The two gyms and the Team Rocket sets are all I have left in the original WOTC sets and it’s down to 15 holos between the three to finish but all the cards are at least $150-$200 moderately played. Maybe one day I’ll finish them.
Yeesh! Those prices are crazy! It hurts to buy a card for over $100 and I would want NM if I pay that much but now you’re saying that MP is that price. That’s so rough… and idk if the prices will fall since I see a lot less gym series boxes floating around compared to base-team rocket. I wish you luck! those big hitters are expensive now 😅
@@MisterStubstep it’s the usual suspects too haha, Blaine’s Charizard, Dark Charizard Holo, Dark Blastoise Holo, Dark Dragonite holo, a few Gym Leader Holos, those are $60-80 MP. LP can be up to $130, and that’s just for a gym leader card! it’ll be sometime before I finish the book haha
Lt surges Pikachu in this set for me just because I've had it as long as I can remember. But gym challenge is by far the best set in wotc in my opinion so many amazing artworks. I'm starting to complete these 2 sets next.
Just started collecting this one got a Sabrina’s gengar unlimited 1st edition is tempting since some 1st edition aren’t too bad but ima wait to see if it really bothers me

If you can find a complete set, generally they can be cheaper but it depends on condition and what the seller wants to go with. Majority of cards in a set are bulk anyway and price will mainly come from condition of the most expensive cards. Is it convenient to buy all it once? Yes, but it is also extremely convenient for a seller to get rid of a whole set at once too. Selling individual cards takes time. If you were to be super smart and get all the bulk cards in one lot and then shop around for the more expensive cards, it might end up being cheaper but then you’re dedicating a ton of time which I would argue is pretty valuable as well
I’m not sure if I’d call it underrated. It’s definitely forgotten about when compared to the other WOTC sets. Maybe just under appreciated. I like it because I grew up with it

How much do you think those 7 sets are worth as a collection just wondering for you opinion thanks!

@@BPNRNGO hmm that would require a little more research haha. You can shop around on eBay to see what those sets are going for. If gym heroes is ~$700 I would guess all sets would range from $500-$1000 each for complete sets. So you’re looking at a range of $3500-$7000 but if you’re trying to get one person to buy it all it will probably be in the lower part of the range. Individually you’ll make more but it’ll require more work on your part
Gym sets are hands down my favorite because it has so much of Ken Sugimori’s best dynamic poses!

Most art (more than any Other Set) is by Ken sugimori, the OG Pokemon Illustrator, thats why the gym sets are so awesome
His arts just bring me back to my childhood haha
