The real reason spy is concerned or confused is because he realizes that he will have to memorize the entire handshake if he ever wants to pull off a proper disguise as one of them

i genuinely cant tell if the cuts in animations are time skips to signify how long the handshake is, or their friendship being so strong that it exceeds space and time
Both and neither. They just warp reality to force the animator to cut the shake short so that people can see their brotherhood faster.

@@creeperspartan1178 It's also useful in keeping the handshake secret, and also trips up spies trying to mimick the handshake. Outside observers witness the time jumps, but Soldier and Demoman do not, and can see and perform the whole thing, which takes 4 hours to complete in its entirety.
This would absolutely slap as an actual taunt exclusive to Soldier and Demo

You can buy this taunt and there will be handshake taunts. You can edit the taunt by right clicking and pressing how long should be the handshake. Limit is 5 stages. All of the handshakes will go in the steam marketplace and hope valve knows.

It's nice to see Red Demo & Blue Soldier sharing each other's hearts. It really shows how strong their friendship really is.

I love the concept of 2 people being so in sync that they can just coordinate a precise string of actions in perfect harmony at will. If you look at their movements closely you see there is no hesitation, no slips. I want a friendship like this.
During war knowing that they’re meant to be killing eachother no less
Well they’ve been in the same war for 16 years so they probably have some practice
I have a friend irl who could understand me dispite not talking. I was sick and I had a throat so sore it hurt to talk. So I spoke softly when I did. But I mostly gestured pointed or just did my best to interpret what people wanted. My friend understood every gesture.
Considering how Demo and Soldier are canonically best friends I can see this actually happening

Love The Amazing World of Gumball references in the handshake! Took me a sec, but the pats on each other after eating each other's hearts made it clear. This animation brings so much of it's own personality with it too, 10/10!

What impresses Me is not the smoothness, the coordination or even that it's a reference to one of my favorite shows, but the fact They didn't get troldier'd in Hightower of all places.

IRL it's only performed by a male and female counterpart.
As for the kissing on each cheek, such is called 'la bise' and is a greeting mostly done by family and very close friends, very common in the southern parts of Europe, including France.

Ngl, it would be amazing to have a taunt that has a secret handshake with every other class. Like sniper and scout do taunt A and sniper and spy do taunt B and so forth with every other class.
Oh my God half of the shake was Amazing World of Gumball. I vividly remember each segment because I did it twice with an old elementary friend. Minus the heart part.. and chadface didn't exist back then nor was uhhh that in the show.
