That rig is friggin beautiful. Watched parts 1 & 2…
Then I remembered I’d seen part 1, at least, in the past. The past being that I watched the video of the build, before I knew about all the mud mower stuff you did. Before I had any idea one day I’d be subscribed to your channel.
Anyway, sitting down here in Naples, FL, in a hotel room working out of town. Watching TH-cam videos, trying to stay sane, thinking about all the stuff I COULD be doing at home.
Your videos came up on this and I hadn’t seen this final video.
This gives me inspiration to find a decent 3 point hitch backhoe and build a similar setup for my sons to pull behind the modified tractors I’ve made for them. I have a Kubota L3301 with a backhoe, but my boys aren’t quite ready to use it. (I don’t want them to get hurt on that tractor).
Thanks for sharing all your projects, it’s refreshing to actually watch content like this, because so much other stuff on TH-cam is unwatchable. Keep up the great work!

Im really glad you enjoy the videos! I love this little backhoe so much, it has been a huge help and just plain works good! Good luck with staying sane down there, hotel rooms suck

Great job ! I have been wanting a back hoe and you have inspired me to give this a shot. This is far better than the HF units I see.

Found an old backhoe project and I am hoping to get it this weekend or next weekend. It will be a great addition to my mobile welding/fabrication/excavation business. My brother is a super talented stone mason so I figured I would add that to our jobs we can do. I am so psyched to be starting this. It has been a long 18+ months healing from that damn accident. Keep up the great work and videos Sean!!

That is the best use for a 3 point backhoe. They have a reputation for ripping the tractor they're attached to apart. I know I'm late to the party, but thought I'd drop my two cents, here's the other one: The more weight the better! Rocks, concrete, steel, maybe a couple of water barrels, whatever. Ideally that chassis should weigh about the same as the rated digging force of the backhoe.
Here's the third penny: bucket design, I.e. shape and tooth lay out can have a major influence on digging capabilities. You can eyeball local mini excavators or ask local contractors/rental companies what works best for your soil type. Another hint that may well be preaching to the choir, but... Bucket curl is typically the strongest function on a backhoe, everything else is to get said bucket where you want it. Or so I was told by someone far more skilled than I.
Speaking of, you have some serious skills with these tiny tractors. The Yeet is strong with this one!

Thanks for the spare change! Great info and response! This little thing is bad ass! I definitely want to do some design changes and ad some weight in the future but it just plain works, thanks for watching!

I'm borrowing one kinda similar, but all home built. If your able to pull your tires and axles out and put them on the other side you also have your out riggers, they crawl slow but do get around, but if you have a hydraulic 3 point or receiver hitch I just curl the bucket in an slap it on the ball and tow it with my mower

My axles do slide out and go to the tongue side like a traditional tow behind backhoe and ive run it that way quite a few spots, but i mainly just keep it hooked up to the quad or tractor just for ease of maneuvering

Just needs a rock/brush thumb now otherwise pretty good... a trick you can use to add more balance weight to the tongue is take some pvc pipe glue a cap on one end and fill with cement then cap the second end... the harbor freight tow behind for example uses a solid concrete block inserted into the tongue for the purpose of adding the missing weight

Great info both of the long members and tongue are stuffed will 3/8 round iron cut offs from work to act the same as
      Concrete

Id love to have a tractor big enough to leave the hoe on it but this was the next best course of action, thanks for watching!

So the entire point of turning this into a towable backhoe was because you didn’t have a tractor with 3point hitch. Now you’re towing it with a 3point hitch tractor. 🤦🏻‍♂️

I bought the yanamar a couple years after the back hoe was built, and the back hoe is still too large for the yanmar. So yes, instead of destroying my tractor that is too small for the attachment, i continue to tow it around. 🤦🏻‍♂️ feel free to like, subscribe or make a donation so i can buy an appropriate size tractor to make you happy
