I only hate you because of jealousy. You are probably a good person, but I did not get a hug from Ms. DiFranco after any of her concerts. ; ) Her shows are crazy fun.
Thank you Ani! I listened to you for years as a young woman and this song just helped me stand up to an art instructor in college. By doing so I showed the younger generation that they can also advocate for their rights. This refrain is what kept running through my mind as I've gone through the process of standing up for ourselves.
Ani is amazing!! She has been with me through my teenage years and my adult years, every lover and every heartbreak. I can't wait to see her again in November
The first Ani's song I listened again and again for weeks. So much free time then, I just met my lover ; Luce whom with we had got two nice childrens, Maurice and Rosie.
Ich habe alle cd's von dir ... habe dich auch live in zrh im Kaufleuten gesehen Hammer Konzert Hammer stimme und ich liebe deine Musik I dont like to post in englisch sorry :0)))
No it isn''t. She has said as much very clearly. From the clues she has given it seems to be about Pearljam frontman Eddie Vedder. When this song was written Alanis was at the height of her carreer not in any apparent turmoil, Ani was doing about 300 shows a year and they didn't have a personal relationship. Eddie Vedder on the other hand had some really serious fallings out with the people who handled the business side of Pearljam. The funniest thing I heard was some young kid said dhe thought it was about Taylor Swift!
@Joshua Abramson Alanis was a child star here in Canada. She has been singing on tv since she was 13 years old before a brief pop career. She wrote Jagged Little Pill in Toronto shortly after graduating high school and moving away from home in Ottawa. Madonna had nothing to do with after-school educational tv or the Toronto pop scene in Canada. Nice try though, dude. You'll have create another truth that can't be so easily debunked.
dont think this one is really about the music or the bussiness of it. been reading some of the comments, so, just thought i'd add my 2cents. signed, McCreepy
If you don't like her voice, just listen to the lyrics and hopefully you'll take something positive away from her performance. She is an incredible storyteller. I also happen to adore her voice and think her guitar playing is among the best I've heard, but that's my opinion.
Ani DiFranco is a Karmic gift to our era. Thank you, Ani!
I was walking back to the Metro after this concert and Ani and Todd walked by., I said hello to them and got a great big hug from Ms Difranco.
I am jealous.
That's Mr. Difranco to you.

I cannot stop listening to this, thank you for your energy, Ani, such a beautiful and brave soul you are
A song about being humble and not conforming to big wigs and trailblazing your own path. I respect that. 💜
I love Ani's mind. Have since I saw her in a tiny coffee cafe in Little Rock circa 1994.
Me too @jputterman26 then I ran into her in a coffe shop outside the Van Gough museum. I almost died!!!
this song comes in my mind at every second comment on the internet ... Saw ANI Live once in Ottawa first row...many many moons ago
She'll always be my love and the one who taught me to be a Righteous Babe!
*goosebumps* I love you, Ani.

Truth.
I heard this song was written about or in reference to ????
Nobody you could imagine. Certainly not criticizing another female artist, which most people assume. I mean why would she do that?
Eddie Vedder
@@davidryan7386 and we have a winner!!
Word is this song is about Alanis Morrisette but Ani won't admit it for obvious reasons...

Gerimaya Whyte What??? Ani is a prolific song writer, probably 10 times more than Morrisette. Pulleassee.
Suzanne Vega.
Nope she denied that rumour too. Plus Ani was about 13 when Suzanne Vega signed for first record contract. This song was written about 10 years later.

Not a pretty girl? She is gorgeous in every way. Not "just" a pretty girl, for sure.
100% Alanis Morissette rip,
Alanis wishes she had been around when Ani started rocking...
how much you wanna bet that Alanis Morissette doesnt know who the fuck ani difranco is
@@Neuroneos Huh? I started listening to Ani not long before Alanis came out w/ her 1st hit.
Out of tune alleycat.....

Bachelor Van Adjust your hearing aides.
Guitar and voice out of tune, but still does it well.
