The way it ended was a bit tragic for Ding, but I think overall Gukesh has shown he deserved to be world champion. Big props to Ding as well, many thought he was no longer up to the task, after he has dropped out of the top ranks in the last 2 years and has lost a significant amount of elo in that time as well, but he made it a real fight. We saw him gain his advantage with black and convert it into a win in game one and later he mounted a strong attack with the white pieces to come back after Gukesh had pulled ahead. Congratulations for ding for regaining his motivation to play chess over the past years and making clear he will keep playing, very glad to hear it Congratulations to Gukesh for being the new World Champion. @@Akash-u9m8w well it's obvious from draw position to win the game You need to push your Opponent to make mistake That's how even Magnus won from draw So it's not ding who made mistake it's gukesh who pressure ding to make mistake 😂😂😂😂
@@FahimHoq Yes obviously....but at this level you need to pressurize your opponent so he MAKES that mistake. He did that extremely well in this match....building up by rejecting all those mover repetitions, showing that he is here to FIGHT, building that thought in the subconcious of Ding that this guy is gonna be annoying even if it is a dead draw. Incredible stuff from Gukesh at just 18!!
Yes even Hikaru didn't find it immediately although he didn't have an engine. Which shows even for super GMs it wasn't that apparent as everyone is making it out to be.
I really thought after 12 gruelling rounds , Gukesh might lose patience and falter somewhere, but he just went on and on playing. Congrats to the Champ.
Glad to have been here to watch this! Heartbreak and euphoria simultaneously! Very dignified press conference today. Great commentators throughout. Only suggestion is to keep the live board somewhere even if it’s small during breaks. Thanks!
Love Ding!!! Hopefully in the new year he will play many tournaments and enjoy them without having the pressure of being world champion! Bravo for fighting through this tournament!!
I was rooting for Ding but when you choose to sacrifice a pawn in a good position multiple times into an endgame you know is a draw but only the other side can win, you will lose a few of them. That said, I think Ding would have held that endgame 99/100 times and blundered not because he couldn’t have seen it easily but because he fell asleep for a moment. This match really could have gone either way. Respect to Ding and Gukesh for being classy human beings ❤ even after defeat and victory, respectfully.
Unbelievable how chess grandmasters can think 25+ moves ahead and actually predict the checkmate outcome of a game when an opponent who has only one pawn more on the board. End game knowledge with forced moves must be on their finger tips at all times to make such accurate predictions.
in this case it's more that there's a relatively simple concept here that completely decides it (if you're reasonably good at chess. If you have two kings staring at each other like this: x x the one that arrives last can "control" the other, because the other has to move first. Gukesh gained opposition, so without playing it out, you already know which king can push the other away.
Congratulations gukesh ❤. Resilience and determination that you show on the board is top notch. But really 😢sad for ding here he crowned as wc by move rg6 and with Same piece rf2 what a turnaround. He told by smiling so there is no game tomorrow breaks my heart 😢. The game looks like a dead draw but unimaginable Blunder takes us to result. In other way I will be happy for ding that now he has no pressure to keep up the title and play . If this game ends in draw and champion needs to be crowned by tie breaks means I dont have this much of attention and sadness because losing this way is heartbreaking for ding here.
Ding Liren played magnificently. He went down fighting. He is the Greatest, after Magnus Carlsen. Well played.🤗 Gukesh Dommaraju, played awesome. It was his Day. Well done, young man.🤗🥳🎉😘 Gukesh Dommaraju, the Youngest, and the Latest, World Champion, after Magnus Carlsen. God bless Gukesh Dommaraju forever.🙏 Jai Hind 🙏
Around 1:53:10 for Danya: "жбан" ("zhban") is a synonym of the one you said meant "pot", as it means "container". In slang, it refers to the head, similar to a dome. In Polish, the equivalent term is "dzban", which has the same two meanings.
I wish the game awarded points based on the number of moves, encouraging players to defend until the end and rewarding faster checkmates. This would make the game more engaging instead of ending with immediate resignations.

4:48:50 walk of a warrior too.
Failure walk
@@sarvottam4097bro he was a world champion for a reason. Even though he isn't the same as he was in his prime it's not like he cheated his way through it. It's remarkable he achieved what he did in the state he was. Give him the respect he truly deserves. Even Gukesh understands this.
@@yogi30303sad but very few people are acknowledging Ding's state also after this match😢
@@divy5984not few.. All non indians.. Also some. Indians too acknowledging it
@@sarvottam4097 said a keyboard warrior who in his lifetime can't even do what ding has done 😂
Congratulations Gukesh! We are proud of you 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
4:20:04.look at that hand shaking, bless him and congrats 👏
The way it ended was a bit tragic for Ding, but I think overall Gukesh has shown he deserved to be world champion.
Big props to Ding as well, many thought he was no longer up to the task, after he has dropped out of the top ranks in the last 2 years and has lost a significant amount of elo in that time as well, but he made it a real fight.
We saw him gain his advantage with black and convert it into a win in game one and later he mounted a strong attack with the white pieces to come back after Gukesh had pulled ahead.
Congratulations for ding for regaining his motivation to play chess over the past years and making clear he will keep playing, very glad to hear it
Congratulations to Gukesh for being the new World Champion. I think he will raise to the top of the rankings in the next 5-10 years and will push Magnus away from the top.
Congratulations gukesh 🎉
GUKKKIIIIIII>>>>>Freaking converted a probable draww. UNREAL
Yes, it was very much Magnus-like finding a way to win from a very drawable position.
so just like Magnus? how can he win in a tablebase draw unless the opponent makes a mistake?@@Akash-u9m8w
@@Akash-u9m8w to win in a draw endgame, your opponent has to make a mistake.
@@Akash-u9m8w well it's obvious from draw position to win the game
You need to push your Opponent to make mistake That's how even Magnus won from draw
So it's not ding who made mistake it's gukesh who pressure ding to make mistake 😂😂😂😂
So touching how Gukesh praised Ding.
Now gukesh will begin his reigning title for years
Nah Ding beat himself he needs to get over this bizarre 2024 mental hitch
@@eyeofhorus1301 Ding beat himself.......... Gukesh beat Ding AND seven remaining top players on the circuit !!!
4:18:58 Fun fact the commentators were mentioning about ruck ti f2 but when ding played ruck to f2 then they realized that bishop is trapped
Yes even Hikaru didn't find it immediately although he didn't have an engine. Which shows even for super GMs it wasn't that apparent as everyone is making it out to be.
Chess24, you were the best broadcasters of WCC24!
Thank you for bringing the legendary commentary of Danya, Leko, Anish, Judit, Hess & everyone ❤️❤️❤️
Ding's horrendous time management finally caught up to him.
Congratulations to both of these CHAMPIONS for putting on one of the best World Chess Championship matches in history.
Respect to Ding and Gukesh for being classy human beings ❤ even after defeat and victory, respectfully.
really interesting Danya initially also didn't see that Rf2 was a blunder lol
@@IvanWongHongKong it took him like 4 seconds to see it bro
@@albertosierraalta3223easy to spot it when you have the eval bar
They would find it pretty much instantly if playing seriously way too obvious
Indian World champion🎉😊❤
Unbelievable how chess grandmasters can think 25+ moves ahead and actually predict the checkmate outcome of a game when an opponent who has only one pawn more on the board. End game knowledge with forced moves must be on their finger tips at all times to make such accurate predictions.
in this case it's more that there's a relatively simple concept here that completely decides it (if you're reasonably good at chess.
If you have two kings staring at each other like this:
x
x
the one that arrives last can "control" the other, because the other has to move first.
Absolutely amazing game. Never felt this much dramatic ending in sports in a long time.
Ding Liren played magnificently. He went down fighting. He is the Greatest, after Magnus Carlsen. Well played.🤗
Gukesh Dommaraju, played awesome. It was his Day. Well done, young man.🤗🥳🎉😘
Gukesh Dommaraju, the Youngest, and the Latest, World Champion, after Magnus Carlsen.
God bless Gukesh Dommaraju forever.🙏
Jai Hind 🙏
Around 1:53:10 for Danya: "жбан" ("zhban") is a synonym of the one you said meant "pot", as it means "container". In slang, it refers to the head, similar to a dome. In Polish, the equivalent term is "dzban", which has the same two meanings.
12th December 2024 6 pm Indian Bengaluru Time, I WAS THERE to the people of the future reading this.
Gukesh is all class - love his reaction and being humble - beautiful!
I wish the game awarded points based on the number of moves, encouraging players to defend until the end and rewarding faster checkmates. This would make the game more engaging instead of ending with immediate resignations.
Come back stronger Ding, you will have overcome 2 big blunders in world championship , you are really a great man!
4:18:37 - the losing blunder
4:20:03 - hand shaking out of excitement
Finally the victorious prince has acended the throne, taking the place as new King and new era begins 👑
Neither player is the best in the world. But a hard fought win for Gukesh. An incredible player and a deserved win.

Congratulations. Sir. Really appreciating moment. Porud to become an Indian. In age of 18th he became the the 18th world championship winner . Jai hind. ,🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳❤️
Great fighting sprit and an amazing Press Conference. Goes on to show the humbleness, greatness and gracefulness of THE WORLD CHESS CHAMPION GUKESH . Also amazing fighting spirit shown by Ding . In tears Atm. Gukesh OP.
All those who watched this historic moment- and lived to see this day.. one day in our old age we remember the feeling.. thank you porter for your wifi services in the flight too Melbourne-😅
4:47:10 “remain me some bad memories against the Le Quang Liem in Olympiad” 🤓😳
I think it's kind of sadistic to have an interview right after the decisive game. Our host does a good job of being somber and serious, but it's like, after this super intense moment, these players deserve at least a day to process this and talk about it later.
Congrats Gukesh! 🎉❤ historical finish, amazing moment!
Ding liren is also a true fighter. My man, everyone wrote him off, my man fought fought and fought. I am an Indian, I just don't know how to feel about the result. On one hand, our boy, Gukesh just won, on the other hand , I feel for Ding. ❤ Both are such a gentlemen ❤ love from my bottom of my heart for both of them. ❤
Congratulations to the new world champion,Mr.Gukesh
Excellent commentary... Only live stream where they are not bored of this draw game and even suggesting that Ding should be careful.
you can see @4:18:15 where Naroditsky suggesting Rf2.Even he didn't know it was going to be a blunder until he saw the evaluation bar or realised after the move was played (you can also watch Hikaru's. Stream) . I mean a professional chess commentator having evaluation bar couldn't figure out it was a blunder ,how would you expect a chess player in a final round ,playing for more than 5 house and low on time expect to see this . The Russians are really pissed because this time they couldn't stop a young player, who is not a Russian from becoming a World Champion.
Respect for Gukesh showing Ding his due respect. Class acts from both men, congrats.
