The only issue I run into is every 3~ updates you may need to install an update for your mods, but it takes maybe 2 minutes so I don't mind. idk what makes you think exclusivity got to expire, i dont expect them to bring high fps to pc. same with high res textures which are exclusive to ps5 (stupid af)
I made up my mind back in 4.0 to mod Genshin because I was on the verge of quitting as it felt like nothing that they were releasing was worth my time. I now feel pretty happy playing the game again as having a fresh new coat on paint on some of my favorite characters and characters I never would have bothered to build has given me motivation to play. If I get banned for this I wont be upset as I had already planned on quitting beforehand and on top of that some other games will be released in the near future that will seemingly replace what Genshin is for me. Started modding a few days ago, otherwise I would've uninstalled. Also because I've been enjoying Wuwa more, but its been good! I now have a reason to build characters again after a year 😂
You can 100% mod Genshin on public servers with no risk. In fact, I would encourage people to do so. Having extra skins or other cosmetics really enhances the game experience IMO. I don't think it's possible to be banned for it unless you specifically show your UID in a photo like an idiot, but even then I question if Hoyo would even care or have the time to crack down on this stuff since it does not actually constitute actual cheating and is just cosmetic stuff. I have not had issue with HSR on public but I have heard talk of people getting banned. Idk if it's even true though. Edit: Someone else said HSR players got banned for a cheat executable which sounds far more likely. I don't see 3Dmigoto getting people banned... likely ever. If you want to do it then do it.
It's against their ToS, and it's a testament to their lazyasses. I think the mods were "allowed" because of it lmao Anyway, I 100% support modding. A lot of mods, in every other games as well, are fun. Even in competitive games, some of them are still big on mod support. Because it's literally free enhancements to the game. It's one of the things that annoyed me when I was playing this game. Mods are against their ToS, even though their game is literally a single player game. I even think hacking the game, like the damage numbers, doesn't fkn matter at all. They're too strict, exactly like their daddy Xi.
@@faultline3936 Yeah, I 100% agree. It's a game that only has PVP in certain mini-game events (so I guess you would want to monitor cheating for that), but aside from that it's just a single-player experience. I would probably use a mod to make the overworld enemies many times stronger rather than myself stronger honestly, the game is far too easy. I assume that strictness is largely in part to them being a Chinese company. Either that mindset is common to be anti-modding, or they are just following regulations? I have no clue, but it's lame.
If the game actually sold more than 2 skins a year, it would be a problem. Unlike most gachas, they are pretty stingy with the skin releases, with only 4-5 per year. Was always weird to me, but some part of me feels like they like the modding scene because it does keep people engaged with the game when they otherwise wouldn't. It's not like they would release a Bennett skeleton skin, or all the other various meme skins. And to point out the elephant in the room, NSFW skins are some of the most popular and would never come to the main game. The mainstream modding websites and chats also moderate themselves well, to prevent the backlash from mihoyo for swapping paid skins onto base models and such. Though you can argue that modded skins make them lose money when they do actually release paid skins...they just make most of their money on the gacha anyway. Half the skins are also free if you did the event it came with.
fun fact, its about a 80-20 ratio of sfw to nsfw mods. its just the nsfw ones that get the most traction. the main dev of gimi personally confirmed this
Honestly for me as long as they are skins they're pretty harmless FOR THE GAMING EXPERIENCE,as for those that give you infinite primogems or let you do a billion damage with yuegui those are the annoying ones that cause problems, granted both are against hoyoverse terms of service sooo....
As someone who tried out some mods and understands how they work, I can confidently say that no mods can give you infinite primogems or do a billion damage with Yuegui. Modifying game behaviour would mean hacking into HoYoverse's servers, and no one can really do that since it's highly illegal and probably very difficult. You might be thinking of private servers, which is a whole other topic and it also illegal but it's different.
@@Rui-mika-001 eh it's a common misconception it's not a big deal, things that give infinite primogems should definitely not exist, especially if they worked on the official server
The mods that should ABSOLUTELY be whitelisted are shaderpacks, Ray Tracing, and FPS BYPASS. GEEZ I HAVE A 13700K, 3080Ti AND A 1440P 360Hz DISPLAY LEMME USE THEM!
The problem is 60+ fps is Apple exclusive, so if they allowed that mod it would mean you are going above 60 while not gaming on iphone which could cause them some legal issues

Can't wait to see what Zenless is going to look like, it looks perfect for my filters.
I got a filter settings vid from another player that I like very much. However, the problem is NVidia filter keep resetting every time I close the game and restart. It was fine before with only resetting when update GeForce experience. Bothersome, yes; but at least I know I won't be banned because of it. Just sad that there is no raytracing even though my computer could run it 😮💨
Those banned in HSR were using mods different than those that only modify a character's appearance and besides, the bans were only of a few days. No ban waves have happened since in either game. About the sold skin mods, there's a rule for them in the top modding sites: modders cannot upload mods that replace the base skin with a paid one. They are protecting themselves and the community precisely from bringing Hoyo's attention and outright banning all who use mods or breaking the possibility to even use them. On the bright side, modders can upload mods that modify those paid skin but wont upload it to the default skin, so it's an extra incentive to buy the skin. There's many QoL mods also that make the overall game better. I personally been using mods for several months now and i've never had any issue or warning, my favorite mod which i recommend all is Dark Mode, which turns black all those bright white loading screens that Genshin loves, like the one that blinds you when you open the door.
"Against Hoyoverse' ToS, due to the nature of Genshin being an online game" Lmao There's a couple of games I've been playing that are online, and some of them can be categorized as competitive. World of Tanks for example, allows a bunch of mods and even have their own official mod website where official World of Tanks staffs check the mods themselves. It's only an excuse to their laziness. They could easily let modding at ease, which, they kinda do, but it's probably because of their laziness anyway, not because they want to allow it. Edit: Just got into the part, "Why does Genshin not allow mods" "they fear that certain mods would provide unfair advantage" Unfair to who? This game's literally a single player game. You don't even need to get a cheat for god mode, just press E on Zhongli. And even if players get a one hit hack, wtf are they gonna get? They'll only shorten their playtime. If this is a competitive game, you definitely need to put a lot of resources into anti-cheat. But this game isn't, not only it's a single player game, it's an easy-ass muffugging game with no end game content. But of course, the money part. It is true, they may lose revenue if skin mods are allowed. But the thing is, players wouldn't do skin mods if they've been releasing good skins like they should've been 3 years ago. It's their lazyass that's causing a lot of people to mod the fkn game. As I mentioned already, a lot of games I played have mod supports, skins included, it was never a problem. Because the skin mods or anything that alters the visuals, will always be client sided. Other players won't see it at all. Also, not a lot of people knows how to mod. Heck, a lot of people barely knows how to change and configure their game's settings to make it run smoother and optimally, let alone installing a mod? I mean, ffs, they don't even trust people in co-op, thinking they would be hacked or something. Obviously, you can't make them download a 3rd party software lmao
On slient's modding discord, the very last report of ban was 7 months ago, and all of the ban reports are for HSR, all of them are 7 days ban. However, I do suggest people that use mod to stop using mod at the start of each patch, let people test the safety first.
The gambling company doesn't want mods because it's a gambling company. Mihoyo is in the business of making addicting timesinks, of course they don't want you to mod them.
Who the hell are you. They way you speak got me feeling like I'm listening to an angel. And how you put to "subscribe" in the most humble way got me thinking you are an angel.
For me, I always will be on the side of and support modders in ANY game- Genshin is no different (well, aside from lots of the questionable/not tasteful ones but yaknow, every game has it), as in my eyes, modding is where many can pickup a new skill for fun and practice- and maybe one day, some can use their experience in the industry if they desire, freelance, or keep doing it for fun. As for Genshin officially now allowing mods... yeah I fully understand why it is in place, as it is just easier to deal with it that way, or not have to officially "endorse" a number of mods that the publisher/devs might not want associated with their product. BUT Where do I feel on it? Well, if its just cosmetic- be it visuals or sounds, and not really giving anyone an advantage, or some QoL things... I assume Hoyo and Cognosphere is fine with modding as a whole as it is mostly just this- cosmetic with no advantage that no one else can see ingame- and a lot of these people who they can detect modding are people who play on accounts that not only have time put into them, but lots of money as well- so it probably is seen as a non-issue for Genshin- same with the FPS Unlocker which has been around for ages and tbh, should be a feature on PC already as loads of people seem to be using it- and if Hoyo can detect GIMI in Genshin and let it be, they certainly can and are doing the same with the FPS Unlocker (Might I remind everyone the game in beta HAD 120 support, but it was removed... yet the iOS versions of Genshin HAVE 120fps support, where PC does not... oh and controller support where android does not... hmm). Of course, Hoyo and Cognosphere won't come out and say "yeah cosmetic mods and fps unlockers are fine", because not only would that validate a number of cosmetic mods that they would not want associated with the game on ANY level (potentially), but, due to any boundaries that might be pushed, or for an explanation on why Star Rail is the one exception (To my knowledge, Star Rail has the same anti-cheat as HI3rd? I only played a lil SR and never 3rd)- and it certainly is easier for them to remain quiet on the whole subject, yet not go after it as again, they know alot of people who play on official servers legitimately- free to play or spending a bunch- mod, so it probably is just seen as a harmless "issue" and something that might drive away a "small" number of people who put money into the game and such. Anyways, that's my two cents... now how do I feel on it? Well, as long as you know Hoyo knows you have mods, and that its against TOS and a potential ban always being on the dice roll, yet you are willing to take the risk and extra precautions to remain "safe"... I see no issue- just if something does happen to you, it's on you. Now... back to planning out my commission for a custom player model for Lumine :3 Also, great video
You will NOT get banned for something that is entirely happening in your GPU 😂 You'll have to find a way to explicitly tell HoYoVerse you are using mods, like publishing footage of you using it with you UID in the footage.
Interesting video. but there are a lot of misconceptions. You did research your video quite well though, which is cool since most people write modding off without actually looking into it.
Thankyou so much for the honest feedback. If you could tell me what the misconceptions are then i can post a pinned comment with the corrected information :)
@@Cephurr these are the main ones i spotted hsr bans - most were found to be using other stuff that was getting ban reports like vpns, fpsunlock, etc, that and the fact there haven't been any reported bans since july cements the fact that its not modding that was causing bans, and if it was they don't seem to care much since nothing has been done since the disclaimer to use on private servers - literally just silent saying "if hoyo takes action against mods in the future and u get banned i warned you". For the sake of keeping it short i'll say that i've been modding gi/hsr/hi3 daily for over a year now with 0 issues, and with 77k members in the discord if we assumed all of them are actively using mods they're not gonna ban the people using them, instead the people making them. paid skins over default - these are strictly banned in the modding communities, they do exist but they're never shared because it would be a legitimate threat to mihoyo nsfw mods being the primary ones - its about a 80-20 ratio of sfw to nsfw mods. its just the nsfw ones that get the most traction. the creator of gimi personally confirmed this
@@Cephurr Sorry, missed this. Most of the things you 'got wrong' are merely details that misrepresent how it actually works, but not really relevant unless you're actually interested in modding the game. Besides that Astute mostly pointed out the big ones.

In the EU, just checking if a specific program is running on somebody's computer is the same as literally breaking in to their home and going through their private things. So if they did this, they would be charged with espionage and privacy violations. They can analyze the data the game itself communicates, but are NOT allowed to do anything else. So following EU law, they would be unable to detect anything that doesn't change game behavior or game files. Something like 3Dmigoto would be invisible. As there is no way to know exactly where a computer is that runs the game (think of VPN's for example) they can't scan for the tool on some computers, and not on others. They would have to either not scan for the tool at all, or ban the game from being played in the EU. Even if running cosmetic mods would cost them money (an I highly doubt it), the losses would be FAR greater if they banned the game in the EU. Besides, they aren't even actual losses, just less revenue. They would have actual losses if they risked lawsuits for espionage and privacy violations. So I think the reason almost nobody is banned for this is that they just don't want to risk it. The international software market is under a LOT of scrutiny as it is, and this could cause problems with international relations. You don't want to get politics involved in a game, just because you want jest a few mora extra profit. Do I condone modding? I do actually. It really helps the gaming community a lot, and can make games even more popular. As long as it doesn't change multiplayer gaming. That would give unfair advantages, and spoil the game for a LOT of players. But cosmetic mods, or single player mods are no problem at all. It even gets the community more involved in the game itself! Just look at Skyrim for example (as shown in the video ;) )
Honestly every single re shade for genshin I've seen has terrible colors and makes the game look way worse because the mod creators don't understand the art direction and just push colors and contrast way too far, which slaughters the color depth lol.
Your point about subscribing at the end makes so much sense, so I subscribed. Also, thank you for putting out a video like this. I appreciate the extra info. And really, adding textures/skins to your own game that don't have an IMPACT (lol pun) on anyone else's game doesn't really seem like that egregious of an offense, especially considering how often miHoYo doesn't come out with new skins. As others have said, the main money maker for them is the character/weapon gacha system anyway. So a few thousand people making their characters look different doesn't seem like it'd lose them a lot of money...
I think that if the game's skins were cheaper, more people would buy them and people will want to mod less. Because most people use mods to have a different skin for cheaper, right? So if the game released more skins and cheaper, I think that less people would downloads mods and just buy the skins. And also, they could make skins for newer characters. Right now, Barbara, Jean, Keqing, Ningguang, Fischl, Diluc, Ayaka, Klee and Kaeya have purchasable skins. Aside from Ayaka, all of these characters were realeased in 1.x versions. Maybe if they could make skins for Cyno, Kirara, basically the newer characters, then it would be great. I don't understand why Genshin would ban people who have harmless mods like a different skin. If the mod gave limited primos and mora? Sure. But a skin? Why?
Though Ive got a question if you stop modding and delete all mods can Hoyo still detect that youve modded the game before? Edit: Also great video, I can tell that youve put good amount of time into making this video! Thank you
Yes, but there's practically 0 risk, theres 77k people in the main modding discord. out of everyone they'll be banning the devs/mod creators, not users caught in the crossfires.
No, because they would need a spyware to do that and that's illegal in many countries. So no, they won't detect if you modded the "game" before, because you are not actually modding the game, you are modding your graphics card.
They shouldn't be able to detect it period unless they scan your PC which is super illegal and would get them in hot water. It's 100% safe, just don't post your UID somewhere while bragging about modding like an idiot. Even then you would prob be fine sicne they likely have more important stuff to crack down on, but beter to not test it.
Well I tried genshin without mods many years ago and didnt get hooked. Last summer I heard about the mods and started playing it again to try them out. Since then I played it constantly and spent around 80€ on the game. Should I get banned I will simply not play it anymore and not spend any money on it anymore.
Honestly (yes ik tbis vid is old but i just foumd) they could meet players in the middle, allow visual, quality of life, character appearance, ect mods but dont allow mods that chmage the gameplay itself (cheats, auto rolling, dmg boosts, etc) i can understand wanting the game to be fun and fair, but does changing my Yelan to look like a character from spiderman really affect your bottom line or another players experience with this amazing game?

Modding games means you are hungry for content. You are looking for an another way of enjoying your game but don't want to play another similar game. Just like skyrim, people mod it to extreme that it doesn't look, feel, or play like skyrim anymore but it is still skyrim. Personalization is good but to much personalization removes what its like in the first place. I modded my skyrim too look good, animate good, play good, because I want more content of the game but after 10 years of not playing I replayed it again a few months ago in its base game and its a fresh of breath air. The game is clunky but that's the charm of the game today. Also modding an always online game is a big no no for me. As well as third party programs unless you really need it like for trading but don't rely on it too often, game updates may deemed the program a risk for detection so avoid programs that runs at windows startup or always close the programs (also running in background)
models can bea tweaked, if the coding down to that "3rd party" is altered, you can gain a hard hitting, lets say raiden shogun with the appearance of using longblades (quite forgetfull of the actual names.. sorry). and these types of mods may alter the character for you, in a "advantagious" way. if it is able to change / alter clothing to lets say get a cuter dress etc.. it's fin.. but that means in can be used maliciously.. and alter dmage output, weapons used and even give flight.. Imagine the heavly principals come and "ground" you :D
not sure if it's even possible but rtx remix could be used to add something like RTX to genshin and star rail or custom skins I woudn't go beyond FPS unlocker in HSR it doesn't matter 60 fps cap but in genshin it does matter
I believe 2 things Hoyo is worried about are 1) people just using mods to get skins which are otherwise locked behind paywall which makes it unfair for people who have actually paid for it 2) people using nsfw mods misrepresenting the game (it's obvious that nude models are modified ones but for example a skimpy looking bikini may people less familiar with the game think that the game natively features those kind of designs and get a negative impression of it)
bruh k boutta rant here both good and bad, honestly hoyo stupid verse as a company sucks, basically all their games are gacha, the only one I like is genshin ngl, but I don't play it, I just enjoy the lore and vids, dawg I just want to experience genshin with mods and I don't care what happens to what other people want, I genuinely am tired of these morons defending the pointless corporate torture, like, I don't care about why you don't want an offline genshin to mod the hell out of, because me and many other people would love to mod the hell out of genshin and could care less about this corporate butthole licking, seriously why can't hoyo just give the fans what they want it's not like they can't still get money in some other way, honestly they could even keep the online genshin and offline genshin both up and get money from both, and I know my solution is prolly shit, but honestly hoyo with their greed and work ethic should be more than capable of thinking of a solution infinitely better than mine but instead they don't give a damn for god knows why, I always thought gacha was stupid as hell, but gacha aside genshin is a great game and it's really sad the state of it and the state of hoyo too, if you read to the end of this without getting mad congrats W fatui diplomat xd gg comrade

Edit: Someone else said HSR players got banned for a cheat executable which sounds far more likely. I don't see 3Dmigoto getting people banned... likely ever. If you want to do it then do it.
It's against their ToS, and it's a testament to their lazyasses. I think the mods were "allowed" because of it lmao
Anyway, I 100% support modding.
@@mcventi4859 oh.....sorry my bad 😅
@@Rui-mika-001 eh it's a common misconception it's not a big deal, things that give infinite primogems should definitely not exist, especially if they worked on the official server
billion damage with yuegui xDDDD
The mods that should ABSOLUTELY be whitelisted are shaderpacks, Ray Tracing, and FPS BYPASS. GEEZ I HAVE A 13700K, 3080Ti AND A 1440P 360Hz DISPLAY LEMME USE THEM!
The problem is 60+ fps is Apple exclusive, so if they allowed that mod it would mean you are going above 60 while not gaming on iphone which could cause them some legal issues
@@99ilmar its stupid still, its a game
Instead of getting a reshade you can just use the Nvidia filters as that doesn't require you to install anything so it should be completely safe
But thats nothing like RT-like packs, it just adds a bloom effect
I haven't seen anyone who actually has good filter settings yet.
Here are my settings

It depends on your screen if you get good results I use a GP27U from CoolerMaster Mini LED screen and Genshin and HSR look amazing with these settings.
"Against Hoyoverse' ToS, due to the nature of Genshin being an online game" Lmao
There's a couple of games I've been playing that are online, and some of them can be categorized as competitive.
Edit:
Just got into the part, "Why does Genshin not allow mods"
"they fear that certain mods would provide unfair advantage"
Unfair to who?
Now... back to planning out my commission for a custom player model for Lumine :3
Also, great video
You will NOT get banned for something that is entirely happening in your GPU 😂
You'll have to find a way to explicitly tell HoYoVerse you are using mods, like publishing footage of you using it with you UID in the footage.
bro has a team of eula, raiden, yae, and yelan... a true mommy lover cultured man...
Interesting video. but there are a lot of misconceptions. You did research your video quite well though, which is cool since most people write modding off without actually looking into it.
Thankyou so much for the honest feedback. If you could tell me what the misconceptions are then i can post a pinned comment with the corrected information :)
@@Cephurr
these are the main ones i spotted
hsr bans - most were found to be using other stuff that was getting ban reports like vpns, fpsunlock, etc, that and the fact there haven't been any reported bans since july cements the fact that its not modding that was causing bans, and if it was they don't seem to care much since nothing has been done since
the disclaimer to use on private servers - literally just silent saying "if hoyo takes action against mods in the future and u get banned i warned you". For the sake of keeping it short i'll say that i've been modding gi/hsr/hi3 daily for over a year now with 0 issues, and with 77k members in the discord if we assumed all of them are actively using mods they're not gonna ban the people using them, instead the people making them.
paid skins over default - these are strictly banned in the modding communities, they do exist but they're never shared because it would be a legitimate threat to mihoyo
nsfw mods being the primary ones - its about a 80-20 ratio of sfw to nsfw mods. its just the nsfw ones that get the most traction. the creator of gimi personally confirmed this
@@Cephurr Sorry, missed this. Most of the things you 'got wrong' are merely details that misrepresent how it actually works, but not really relevant unless you're actually interested in modding the game. Besides that Astute mostly pointed out the big ones.
🥵🥵That Diluc Lore master, i wouldnt mind modding my game for that
Ik someone who uses skin mods. They just make me feel how much Hoyo themselves could up their cosmetic game.
skin mods are pretty harmless but if people are using teleporting, no stamina and such mods they would get ban
Im doing it.
The mods i've used remove the camera censor, the water censor, i've restored Rosaria to her 1.2 form, and I have on that let me remove Clorinde's hat....because why not? Didn't find one with a good model for arataki Itto's arms being redeemed unfortunately. Im really only interested in having the game at it's best, not so much into skins and stuff, outside of the hat.
That and every modder I have universally agrees to not put paid skins onto base appearances. Heck a bunch even make specific skins for the paid skins!
Sure. But a skin? Why?
Definitely don't put your SS with your uid attached
Though Ive got a question if you stop modding and delete all mods can Hoyo still detect that youve modded the game before?
Edit: Also great video, I can tell that youve put good amount of time into making this video! Thank you
Yes, but there's practically 0 risk, theres 77k people in the main modding discord. out of everyone they'll be banning the devs/mod creators, not users caught in the crossfires.
@@AstuteModding oh I see thats good to hear, though I did it on my alt account a long time ago can it still affect my main acc?
The vocal fry is killing my ears. Why do young people do this?!
Cosmetic mods don't affect them but they sure do affect their whiteknights 😂

Wtf how has this video not gotten banned
To be honest i like the orginal skins and models more but some of these genshin mods are pretty but i dont like the mods how shows more skin then Clothes
But genshin really needs some mods that we can use it's so sad for others that have mods for genshin. Just let us have one mod.
I only wish that Hoyoverse makes the reshade legal as it does nothing to their earning it just mod that makes the game look good

I dont blame people for modding, since the game brings no skins fr
not sure if it's even possible but rtx remix could be used to add something like RTX to genshin and star rail or custom skins
I woudn't go beyond FPS unlocker in HSR it doesn't matter 60 fps cap but in genshin it does matter
I enjoy watching people mod but I dont think Id ever do it myself [ im a mobile player anyways so I cant do it lol]
Bruhh I got clickbated by the thumbnail
is it a perm ban or temp?
temp 7 days max
just use hide uid mod
I believe 2 things Hoyo is worried about are 1) people just using mods to get skins which are otherwise locked behind paywall which makes it unfair for people who have actually paid for it 2) people using nsfw mods misrepresenting the game (it's obvious that nude models are modified ones but for example a skimpy looking bikini may people less familiar with the game think that the game natively features those kind of designs and get a negative impression of it)
Mualani ain't helping them there then
bruh k boutta rant here both good and bad, honestly hoyo stupid verse as a company sucks, basically all their games are gacha, the only one I like is genshin ngl, but I don't play it, I just enjoy the lore and vids, dawg I just want to experience genshin with mods and I don't care what happens to what other people want, I genuinely am tired of these morons defending the pointless corporate torture, like, I don't care about why you don't want an offline genshin to mod the hell out of, because me and many other people would love to mod the hell out of genshin and could care less about this corporate butthole licking, seriously why can't hoyo just give the fans what they want it's not like they can't still get money in some other way, honestly they could even keep the online genshin and offline genshin both up and get money from both, and I know my solution is prolly shit, but honestly hoyo with their greed and work ethic should be more than capable of thinking of a solution infinitely better than mine but instead they don't give a damn for god knows why, I always thought gacha was stupid as hell, but gacha aside genshin is a great game and it's really sad the state of it and the state of hoyo too, if you read to the end of this without getting mad congrats W fatui diplomat xd gg comrade
