SA in Cricket is much stronger than France in Hockey..also, gap between these two side was more in hockey..giving excuses for such inconsistencies is why Indian hockey is struggling for eternity while teams like Belgium makes world class progress suddenly..pretty sure such excuses are not given Aus and Belgium after poor performance..and dont forget India also lost to Japan in Asian Champions trophy recently. This is not what we expect from a top team.

We need a presence like Sardar Singh (a player more gifted than others) to control speed of play for such matches ...physically France matched us and they won and how can we miss so many penalty corners.
Come on guys we shouldn't criticize india for this yes they did play below par but we saw out of 12 pc not even a single got converted into a goal and some of the great opportunities were missed on the other hand french goal keeper was rock solid at anything which came his way. Also France converted all opportunities which were created due to flaw in Indian midfield and possession. This kind of thing happens when it is your day when everything goes in your favour so was the case with France. But look today they were crushed 5-1 by Netherlands so we should not blame india much about this although they need to work or drag flicking defense and lost possession problems .
this only means India is very inconsistent, which resulted in India struggling in world event more often than not..same thing happened in Asian Champions trrophy. Beat Japan 6-0 in league and then lost to them in semifinal..such thing we wont see from Aus and Belgium..and losing by 4-2 from a French side no matter what is poor effort.
@@bharatvarsha7 fortunately aus withdrew and Belgium arent playing their best hockey lately, however holland have bounced back quite quick by the seems of things after their small decline.
Same thing happened against Japan , first india beat japan at a big mergin & then lost to them by another big margin.this is the risk of playing low ranked team.they have nothing to lose and we have many thing to lose. Play with teams ranked between 10.especially australia,belgium,holland so that we may fix up our standard & improve.

France was lucky this time. First was the penalty strike, and then second goal 4:01 was went straight through goalkeeper's legs. Second goal a lucky one though, no skill just a hit towards the goal.

What kind of hockey India has played ? Their defense, middle and forward are all beaten. Their passes are not even on point. I'd say India played a really bad hockey and France took advantage of that.
