I'm blown away by the huge and wonderful energy in your painting! I've done a lot of videography and so I recognize and appreciate the amount of time and physical work of changing shots and setting up you did to create that wonderful intro. It's only been a week since I bought my first oils and I'm thrilled to have found your work .... vitality, that's what I want in my work!
I’m new to watching your channel. What a relief at the freedom of your work. No laborious planning on the canvas first. Just straight out joy of mixing nature and the ability of natural talent. I felt the joy of it. Beautiful work!!!!!!
Your work is super inspiring to watch. I’ve subscribed to a lot of oil painters here recently for some inspiration. I find myself really drawn to pieces that look like paintings (much like V.V. Gogh) and not photographs. I love to see the brush strokes and the thickness of the paint on the canvas. If it looks like a photo, that takes unimaginable talent; but it’s certainly not my preference. Bravo on such success in your work!
I love watching you work, especially the colour mixing!! I always enjoy watching the start and all the building up of layers, so inspiring!! Another great painting!!
Awsome, i luv the tree shaddows. Funny how i can never watch a film more than once but i can watch your vids over n over. I like that you dont talk too much. I cant stand being talked to all the time. Bautiful! I bet youve sold it by now 😍👌🏴
Awesome the first day was amazing as the snow melted hard to beat that, and the second day you pulled it altogether. 👍👍🇨🇦 We have the snow where I live as well!
You really attacked that canvas! You’re so lucky to live somewhere with gorgeous views. Loved the painting. Always amazed at how much paint you squeeze out!!$$😬
I so enjoy your painting technique! I paint with oils but still seem to be to tight of a painter. I lack the flow and diversity that you have demonstrated. Could you tell me what your palette is, ie, plywood? Also how do you initially treat the palette surface. Next, do you always work on stretched canvas? Do you ever paint on mdf board? Thanks for these videos! A lot of work goes into your work and it is much appreciated by this painter.
Hey, Thanks for these great videos! I am a Missoula MT gal myself who grew up in the Bitter Root. I am trying to get a group going on Facebook to do some Plein air trips once or twice a month. I used your video as an example. Awesome Work.
Your approach reminds me very much of what I imagine Van Gogh's might have been like. The Blick Studio paints--do you ever find that you have coverage issues with those?
Do you do a "Notan" on the canvas with the color you will use for a particular value? It seems you block-in with the color you have chosen for the object. My apologies if this is a bit ambiguous.
the traditional idea of a notan is a small, thumbnail sized, simple value study. I don't do this, but you will see me place down just one little spot of a mixed color to test it before filling in
👏👏👏This is a Russian(or rather Soviet) "etudnik" (pleinair box?) we call it 😃😃😃. And the the manner you work is pretty familiar to me😃😃😃. Btw, I love your work, and it makes me almost jealous (i used to be that brave in the past - now id prefer much, much smaller size, but i miss that big adventures. Thank you for sharing!
Coolio, what sort of artist easel n box you have there? It looks pretty lightweight except for your backpack. You've got to walk back to your car with a wet canvas, it looks like thick oil paint!!! I'm curious about the logistics. I'm a lazy old woman I'd probably never do anything like that, sure looks fun though, minus the cold snow :P
thank you. After painting this one I brought it into the house and it actually dried within a week. My studio is in my garage though, and if I'd left it out there in this cold weather, it might not have dried until Spring, lol
@@turnervinson Ha! Mine usually stems from a failure of sticky tack because I'm too cheap to buy a tripod for my phone th-cam.com/video/gVZGYzeLwOw/w-d-xo.html&t=7m04s&ab_channel=KarenVanRaden
I just carry it back to the car, and then it's nice to have an old car that I can get paint on, lol. I have the back seats flat and can usually carry at least a few wet paintings at a time if needed.
Would love to know what kind of pochade box you use, I really like how the palette flips sideways and it presents a bigger mixing area, watching your videos gives me the courage to try bigger plein air pieces, but i can see the only way to finish these pieces you do is you have to really attack the canvas, get rid of that white! :)
Yeah, I do have some turp that I use occasionally but nothing else. In the summer time my paintings can dry to the touch in just a few days, but in this colder weather they can take up to a few weeks just to dry to the touch
i was wondering how do you move a wet painting without messing it up, i'm guessing the car helps out a lot. i just recently found your channel and i'm loving your work! really strong and vibrant paintings
Thanks a lot! I do often accidentally brush my panting up against some branches or tall grass when leaving a spot, lol. But nothing too bad. Then just laying it in the back of the car back to the house.
Me encanta tu pintura,me gustaría tener el atrevimiento para pintar así pero no puedo, necesito hacer una pintura mas realista y sin embargo me gusta esa pintura,es una contradicción que no logro comprender
I love how you show real painting and how everything does go exactly right all the time. Most of the other utube artists only show the perfect parts.
I ment to say "doesn't".

Really like the foreground in this one. Painting that thick must get expensive. lol
thanks Wayne. I try to live a simple life so I can use all the thick paint I want, haha
People passing by talk to me… 🙂
And the helicopter sound 🚁🎶🇺🇸
Ahh my favorite part of painting outdoors! "Can i come take a look?"
haha, yep! Some people complain about folks wanting to look, but I love interacting with others while I'm out working
Great! I wait to see snow here in Ruse, Bulgaria!

@@karenvanraden6996 I think you should invest in a $25 dollar tripod!! 😂😂
Hello and thank you! Are you dipping your brushes in turp. or linseed oil or...?
Dipping into dirty turp, Turpenoid to be exact
What do you do with the left over paint you squeezed out?
I’m painting often enough that I just use it for the the next painting.
@@turnervinson Thats great. Do you scoop the paint up and put it in something or just leave it right there in your easel?
I just leave it right in the easel!
Que trabalho lindo!!

How do you carry your paintings back to the studio? Do you protect the canvas in some sort of carrier or is it fine carrying it by itself?
I just carry it back to the car, and then it's nice to have an old car that I can get paint on, lol. I have the back seats flat and can usually carry at least a few wet paintings at a time if needed.

Lovely place. You use more paint in one session than I would in 6 months😁

Is it cold? You paint very well, and I like to paint like this.
thank you. and it wasn't too cold out there!

Is it just me or did the planes get louder as you zoomed into the painting? Kinda gave it an interesting haunting vibe. Love the final piece btw!
haha, I know. It was just how it sounded after chopping up the shot. I liked it though, lol

I felt every stroke of your brush.....I loved the application of the thinner paint with the slight drip...was that paint oils or acrylic?
thank you Tanya. this was oils
Потрясающе!!!
Plien air colors captures beauty in a way from photo paintings miss. 💞 big difference. Nice sucks me right into the picture.
thank you
Que maravilla👏👏👏
I don’t see you using any medium. How long does it take for the painting to dry?
He dips his brush into some solvent on the ground. Usually adding Liquin will help Titanium White to dry.
Yeah, I do have some turp that I use occasionally but nothing else. In the summer time my paintings can dry to the touch in just a few days, but in this colder weather they can take up to a few weeks just to dry to the touch
