I kinda like the idea of Freddy being falsely accused. Not to make him sympathetic, but I feel his rage and anger at being murdered for no reason would make him a darker more violent killer.
I’m working on an Elm St story now and like Jay said, taking things from this prequel treatment would be great. Freddy is not innocent, he is menacing and calculating so he should stay that way.
Freddy can still be menacing and calculating but be innocent of the original crimes he was convicted of. Because making Freddy innocent doesn’t change his motivations.Freddy comes back to terrorize the children of Elm Street for the crimes of their parents. What if the parents were wrong? What if someone was framing him?

I completely agree most fans are close minded but the truth is most fans don’t know what they want until it’s put in front of them. It’s up to the creators to be innovators and to take different approaches and looks at these characters. Personally my take is a three season 6 to 8 episode streaming service show

I have my own ideas as well for a good prequel script about Freddy’s beginning. Like mine includes some of the little backstory we got from parts 4 and 5, him being conceived by rape from a 100 maniacs to a nun and in part 6, him being given up for adoption and being adopted by a mean child abuser alcoholic for a father and getting bullied but eventually marrying and having a daughter. I’d also just like to know how the hell he even got a wife. What did Loretta see in him? She obviously didn’t sense his evil spirit hidden underneath. I’d like to know what happened before he got caught by the police, like after he murdered his wife and made his daughter promise not to tell. Like what did he do with his wife’s body? How did he get caught? Did Kathryn tell? There’s just so much we all need and want to know. He’s always had the desire to kill when in part 6, it showed him as a young boy killing mice in his school. If they don’t ever make a prequel, with Robert Englund playing him of course, that would be the biggest robbery from the nightmare fans. We deserve a prequel
Rob Zombie already did the whole 'turning iconic evil horror villain into a revenge fantasy anti-hero' thing and I thought it damaged the character. If Saxon wants to write a script about Lt. Thompson beating up deranged hippies as a spinoff, I'll watch that, though.
I really wish they'd stop using "abused as a child and bullied at school" as a villain backstory because not only is it cliched and overdone but also not everyone becomes an abuser, bully or killer from it either.

In my. sequel/reboot Nancy’s father is the real murder and If you go back and watch the original with that twists in mind it gives a few moments in that film a little more of a sinister undertone. I think it was a mistake for Wes Craven to make Freddy's victims teenagers. I think it would be far scarier if his victims were under the age of 12. Can you imagine if Tina's Dad was accused of murdering his own daughter, when in reality he watched helplessly as his little princess was brutally murdered in front of him? I think any future Nightmare film should take this approach.

I think the fan series was a better prequel. I would like to see THAT done big budget and fleshed out. I GOT IT! He was a child psychologist CAUGHT UP in the Manson cult and was serving these kids over to be molested and killed! In the original he had a boiler room where he took his kids. They never said his occupation. Even in pt 2 she was GUESSING he worked at the treatment plant. We didn't get the gardner thing til the reboot. This ties in manson. makes the child psyche thing work and still keeps Krueger a terrible being. BOOM! Oh and 1 more thing. After Englund appeared on that TV show as Freddy and seeing the reaction to Jamie Lee in 2018, he did say he was willing to be Freddy 1 more time for the right script. End Game showed us what that reverse aging tech can do with Sam Jackson.

The NOES prequel should be about 4 family’s victimized by someone they have no clue about.They all have 2 kids and the oldest who all go to school together end up missing and dead.So it plays like a pseudo anthology with this connection,then as the main family’s dad who’s a cop puts the pieces together & the family’s team up and get revenge.

Here's my idea, keep the Manson idea. Then what you do is you find out that Freddy was not only apart of Manson's cult but Freddy wanted to start his own following. We get the story of how he finds a way to be the supernatural being that he is. Jay is absolutely right, DO NOT MAKE HIM INNOCENT!! He's not only responsible, but he was also into Satan. Like straight up wanted to be Satan's right hand man. So Freddy obviously fearing and inevitably Knowing the town's people will come for him. Strikes a deal with the devil, that in death he'll be able to become the Freddy we all know and adore haha.

The reboot from a couple years ago did it the worst way possible: making him innocent was stupid, and then revealing at the end that he wasn't innocent meant the whole plot was a giant waste of time. Such an awful script. What point would Freddy have in convincing kids he was going to kill that he was innocent? So dumb.

I think a NOES prequel would be awesome! But I wouldn’t want Freddy to be a child therapist! It was already explained he worked at a power plant in the boiler room in NOES 2! In NOES 5 we learned that Amanda Krueger was raped by 100 maniacs. In Freddy Dead, NOES 6, when Lisa entered Freddy’s mind, we seen he was a taunted child murdering a gerbil. As a teenager, he cut himself for kicks, and killed his abusive adoptive father. Followed by murdering his wife after she found out he was killing the neighborhood kids. Freddy’s backstory can’t be changed!
Growing up and watching the movies I always imagined him being so evil in life that in death his evil manifested into a nightmare for children. I hate the idea that he may have been innocent.
I actually find the idea of an innocent Freddy Krueger intriguing. It's been played with to varying degrees with Jason and Michael, so it makes sense to try it with Freddy (which they did in the remake as you mentioned). It does take the story from a murderer wanting to keep murdering after death to an innocent man murdering out of revenge, which seems a bit more cliched, but they could mess around with it to make it interesting. Make him an anti-hero. Or just let him get revenge and he turns to the dark side regardless, like someone vows to tell his story of being innocent and he kills them because he's past that shit, he's made his choice to be a killer now. As for bringing Robert Englund back, hell yeah. I'd love it, but it's impractical at this point. Even with de-aging tech (which is far too expensive for horror movies right now) and makeup, Englund is still on the unfortunate side of half a century. It's just a sad truth for all our horror icons at some point in time. Find someone that can take up the mantle (that wants to do it, not some asshat that will only stick around for the original to launch his career) and carry the load of 4+ movies.

But him originally being a Child Psychologist that could be how he manipulates the children to trust him and that's how hes able to do what he does. It could be that When he originally was tried for the first murders/molestations and let off that no place would hire him, so that's when he gets a job as a gardener or something and really starts hurting/killint the kids and that's what spurs the parents to kill him.

I think that making freddy innocent is a pretty good idea, i mean when you think about it, he would be totally pissed off and want revenge, and i know saying making him empathetic is a bad thing, however if you really think about it, its kind of like that story that all towns have about that house at the corner or the guy across the street whos a serial killer, people know it isnt true, but then there are others who spread the word and have others believe it, the idea of keeping freddy as guilty is what fuels his rage and gives him the ability to keep coming back, as long as the tales are told because people dont want to admit they were wrong for burning an innocent man alive, he will come back, and because they feels so guilty over it, they continue to tell the tale of his guilt thinking it will somehow make it true, and thats why he comes back and kills, to teach them a lesson, but they never learn, atleast thats my idea, might be dumb, but i can see it from that perspective.
I completely agree with that. If you were just an Innocent man/woman, and someone made you out to be a serial killer just because you lived on that one creepy house on the corner, and people seemingly never came back out of that house, you'd be pissed already. After you get killed for nothing, you'd come back as a revenant-style spirit, angry and violent because you were innocent, but framed for something you never did.

If the movie was about getting evidence in the court case and digging into his past where maybe he was the most sadistic serial killer of all time finding evidence from cold cases across the country everywhere he used different alias's different occupations to lure children. Throw out some easter eggs. He could have been a camp counselor at a certain camp he could have been a child phycologist in a certain town in Illinois. Something for fans. But in this one town on this one Street he got caught, even though he was smart enough to beat it legally the parents made him pay.

They could do this with Robert since he says he has one more in him, this could be that one more. Have it sorta play out that he was a psychologist or something else but still the child molester. In the Freddy tv show they had a court part for him in the first episode. They can go more into that, then at the end have Freddy look as we know him to look with being burned. Then end the movie with him doing a dream kill and the parent finds their kid dead and something was given away to let them know it was Freddy. If later on they want to reboot Nightmare again they can get a new Freddy and not have to worry about will Robert come back or switching people mid series.

I think the comedy kills work better for Chuck even though I'm not a fan of that series of movies. I don't want Freddy to be funny. He's a creep and disgusting and that's what makes him scary. I want that to shine through and back off of the one liners and comedy kills more. Freddy is the one who makes you affraid for your kids and that's how he should be.

Here's my idea, keep the Manson idea. Then what you do is you find out that Freddy was not only apart of Manson's cult but Freddy wanted to start his own following. We get the story of how he finds a way to be the supernatural being that he is. Jay is absolutely right, DO NOT MAKE HIM INNOCENT!! He's not only responsible, but he was also into Satan. Like straight up wanted to be Satan's right hand man. So Freddy obviously fearing and inevitably Knowing the town's people will come for him. Strikes a deal with the devil, that in death he'll be able to become the Freddy we all know and adore haha.

The reboot from a couple years ago did it the worst way possible: making him innocent was stupid, and then revealing at the end that he wasn't innocent meant the whole plot was a giant waste of time. Such an awful script. What point would Freddy have in convincing kids he was going to kill that he was innocent? So dumb.

I think a NOES prequel would be awesome! But I wouldn’t want Freddy to be a child therapist! It was already explained he worked at a power plant in the boiler room in NOES 2! In NOES 5 we learned that Amanda Krueger was raped by 100 maniacs. In Freddy Dead, NOES 6, when Lisa entered Freddy’s mind, we seen he was a taunted child murdering a gerbil. As a teenager, he cut himself for kicks, and killed his abusive adoptive father. Followed by murdering his wife after she found out he was killing the neighborhood kids. Freddy’s backstory can’t be changed!
Growing up and watching the movies I always imagined him being so evil in life that in death his evil manifested into a nightmare for children. I hate the idea that he may have been innocent.
I actually find the idea of an innocent Freddy Krueger intriguing. It's been played with to varying degrees with Jason and Michael, so it makes sense to try it with Freddy (which they did in the remake as you mentioned). It does take the story from a murderer wanting to keep murdering after death to an innocent man murdering out of revenge, which seems a bit more cliched, but they could mess around with it to make it interesting. Make him an anti-hero. Or just let him get revenge and he turns to the dark side regardless, like someone vows to tell his story of being innocent and he kills them because he's past that shit, he's made his choice to be a killer now.
As for bringing Robert Englund back, hell yeah. I'd love it, but it's impractical at this point. Even with de-aging tech (which is far too expensive for horror movies right now) and makeup, Englund is still on the unfortunate side of half a century. It's just a sad truth for all our horror icons at some point in time. Find someone that can take up the mantle (that wants to do it, not some asshat that will only stick around for the original to launch his career) and carry the load of 4+ movies.

Freddy as a child psychologist could work. Him being innocent, fuck that. But him originally being a Child Psychologist that could be how he manipulates the children to trust him and that's how hes able to do what he does. It could be that When he originally was tried for the first murders/molestations and let off that no place would hire him, so that's when he gets a job as a gardener or something and really starts hurting/killint the kids and that's what spurs the parents to kill him.

I think that making freddy innocent is a pretty good idea, i mean when you think about it, he would be totally pissed off and want revenge, and i know saying making him empathetic is a bad thing, however if you really think about it, its kind of like that story that all towns have about that house at the corner or the guy across the street whos a serial killer, people know it isnt true, but then there are others who spread the word and have others believe it, the idea of keeping freddy as guilty is what fuels his rage and gives him the ability to keep coming back, as long as the tales are told because people dont want to admit they were wrong for burning an innocent man alive, he will come back, and because they feels so guilty over it, they continue to tell the tale of his guilt thinking it will somehow make it true, and thats why he comes back and kills, to teach them a lesson, but they never learn, atleast thats my idea, might be dumb, but i can see it from that perspective.

If you were just an Innocent man/woman, and someone made you out to be a serial killer just because you lived on that one creepy house on the corner, and people seemingly never came back out of that house, you'd be pissed already. After you get killed for nothing, you'd come back as a revenant-style spirit, angry and violent because you were innocent, but framed for something you never did.

If the movie was about getting evidence in the court case and digging into his past where maybe he was the most sadistic serial killer of all time finding evidence from cold cases across the country everywhere he used different alias's different occupations to lure children. Throw out some easter eggs. He could have been a camp counselor at a certain camp he could have been a child phycologist in a certain town in Illinois. Something for fans. But in this one town on this one Street he got caught, even though he was smart enough to beat it legally the parents made him pay.

They could do this with Robert since he says he has one more in him, this could be that one more. Have it sorta play out that he was a psychologist or something else but still the child molester. In the Freddy tv show they had a court part for him in the first episode. They can go more into that, then at the end have Freddy look as we know him to look with being burned. Then end the movie with him doing a dream kill and the parent finds their kid dead and something was given away to let them know it was Freddy. If later on they want to reboot Nightmare again they can get a new Freddy and not have to worry about will Robert come back or switching people mid series.

I think there are some good ideas there, and really, a prequel would be the only way to go at this point. I think the comedy kills work better for Chuck even though I'm not a fan of that series of movies. I don't want Freddy to be funny. He's a creep and disgusting and that's what makes him scary. I want that to shine through and back off of the one liners and comedy kills more. Freddy is the one who makes you affraid for your kids and that's how he should be.
