  • Astronomers use Hubble images of the giant star cluster Omega Centauri to predict where the stars will be in a decade or more. The cluster's 10 million stars, among the first stars to form in the universe, are in constant motion. Studying their movements helps scientists to understand the formation of the universe.

      The problem is that you are limited to a few light years of travel and that our body's ageing cannot be overcome. Deep freeze is not compatible with our bodies either. So the number of galaxies that are meaningful to a human lifespan or even 10 lifespans is less than ONE galaxie, our milky way. From billion of galaxies, none is accessible except ours.

    How is it that the light from the most distant galaxies doesn't get blocked by the galaxies in the foreground ? Are the galaxies just so far apart that there is still plenty of empty space ?

    • @markfox1545
      @markfox1545 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      zytigon - they're just not directly in line with each other and the observer. How do you see 2 people when they're stood next to each other? Can you still see them both if one stands immediately behind the other? I'm puzzled why you needed to ask that question.

    Perhaps it had a black hole but it "went out, leaving the stars with nothing to orbit. Then instead of being bound to the center they become bound to each other. The n-body problem with no well defined center.

    Not to forget that we can only see the part of the universe with those stars that can radiate and shine! All the planets are not included yet!

    In this universe exist centllions of galaxies , the universe is unlimited, well Albert Einstein said once ''There are 2 things unlimited the universe and human stupidity but i am not sure about the universe'' but for sure there are different kind of live for all over the universe.

    It must suck to live in a globular cluster and look out at a badass Milky Way and realize you live in an inferior grouping of space matter

    how does the Hubble focus on a area billions of light years away when the telescope is constantly moving round the globe at thousands of miles per hour.
