Imagine if BG3 added DLC like campaign modules of existing games. Mayhaps a Ravenloft in BG3? or a Player tool so the community can add and make their own! It could be amazing.

I bought NWN back in the day and played the main campaign as an elf cleric. It was kind of nice to have bows and longswords as a cleric, and cleric is insanely strong throughout the game considering how many diseases, ability drains, level drains, and other debuffs there are.

Cleric is hands down the best Class, Paladin is also really strong, but Cleric has overall more utility.

I actually find this game to be very fitting in the modern age. More so than a lot of other games, as I don't really mind the loot in every corner or the abundance of mobs in the standard campaign. And it is a D&D game so you can build your character in any fashion you want to, so the options you get change depending on how you want to play and build a character. And if you play the Neverwinter Nights enhanced Edition, you can just start the third DLC and get a level 15 character immediately crafted exactly as you want it and slowly build your character with gear throughout the run of the campaign and I find that to be the most enjoyable as the game gets exceedingly difficult the further you get into the campaign.
But the things that I always adore about this game compared to any other D&D game, is the fat that combat feels genuinely like combat with characters dodging, countering your attacks, and moving around making the combat that much more enjoyable to watch. D&D has always kept the wacky in mind when making loot enjoyable, so there's always plenty of gear options to craft the character specifically to your liking. Plus the campaign, while Bland at times, can seriously be fun to experience how truly massive this game is. I would put this as my favorite D&D game of all time just for the fact that it's so replayable and has a lot of good features implemented in it.
However be warned about the enhanced Edition on consoles, as beam dog has yet to completely fix certain ports of the game and it might be a hit or miss if the game runs stable consistently for long periods of time. It's not a perfect game by any means but it is a fantastic D&D game for the most part.
And honestly the most fun I've ever had with this game has been with the ranger build. Fighter/ Ranger with a pet bear, using longbows and dual clubs. My gear is pretty simple as the only pieces that really matter are a chest piece giving me tangibility when standing still, boots of speed, A ring that gives me 250 health, and an amulet that allows me to spawn a nymph to follow me around and heal me.
I have an enchanted longbow that shoots fire arrows indefinitely and two clubs that's done and apply acid damage every round.
But anyway great review and discussion on such a rather underrated game.😅

Very nice and comprehensive review. Enjiyed watching as I did playing the campaign. I have completed it probably 20-30 times with various builds. To me the story is good, ups and downs, a lot of side quests, hue open world to explore, especial in act 2, you encounter a lot of various enemies. I agree it meant to be played for few times until it becomes boring because completing all side quests become really annoying for very extended open areas and consuming time to move from 1 point to another (that's why I use speedhack just for traveling to complete OC many times). Well done, looking forward to your other NWN reviews.

One of the best game in the past. So many choices to multi class. I made so many powerful characters then, so many unique builds. There's roleplaying, pvp in persistent world which we can even create with the toolset. Campaign has love elements, depending on choices, the outcome is different. Many games nowadays does not have so plus points. Either a part is lacking. Wish they make a new game based on these ideas. The only prob with NW nights is the old graphics.

The strongest and best feature of the game is customizability. You didn't have to know the script language and you could make a passable campaine just using the tools. If you become proficient with the script language then the sky was almost the limit.

I recently installed this game for the first time in what feels like a decade, and I only made it to the beginning of Chapter Two before completely losing interest. I'd had enough. In truth, it's a boring story. And because it's so combat heavy every quest is so repetitive. Everything boils down to enemies running towards you at first sight and you destroying them. Even the Charwood quest, when it comes down to it, is mostly just a load of fighting. Compare this to something like A Dance With Rogues -- ahem -- where you can play to a rogue's strengths and not be penalised (xp wise) if you, for example, sneak past a bunch of enemies instead of killing them.
I'd forgotten Lovecraft's story about Sarnath. My default position when it comes to pre-human lizardman empires is to assume it's a rip-off of the Kull story, The Shadow Kingdom.

For a good portion of the game I was using the Creature Override mod which has some new skins for monsters such as orcs trolls, undead, etc. Definitely makes it look a little more 2006 than 2002. I think that is the most noticeable one. Also the high definition weapon packs and crates.

Started playing the mobile version recently. The main campaign kind of put me off with the 30 minute unskippable tutorial segment as well as the extremely annoying voice lines of your thief companion. I found shadows of undrentide to be a lot more fun from the jump. I'll go finish the original campaign at some point, but overall, the game itself is amazing. I'd also like to say that i quite enjoy the narration. Reading the script almost like a DM might, with the inflections to emphasize certain things. The almost cheesy style of narration lends itself very well to any DnD video
