Home Office statisticians said the drop was 'not a blip'. Annual crime figures published yesterday show the number of murders and manslaughters and infanticides fell to a level not seen since 1989. The crime figures also show that the recession has so far had a less than expected impact on the underlying crime rate, although domestic burglary has risen by 1% in the past year, fraud - including credit card and online fraud - has risen by 5% and shoplifting has increased by 10%. But the overall crime rate in England and Wales in the 12 months to March 2009 is officially declared to have remained stable with an estimated 10.7m offences as measured by the British Crime Survey (BCS). He did a show called "how TV ruined your life" but it is mostly re-hashed bits of Screenwipe put nto themed episodes for BBC 1 viewers who never venture over to BBC 4 for Screenwipe.
I watched all of Screen/Game/News wipe about a year ago and I was sad that there were no more. Yesterday I discovered this, yay! Any more Charlie Brooker shows I could watch? I've seen "You have been watching" too.
I know what you mean, I hated the Tim Key sections for ages, then I heard him on a radio show called "Mark Watson makes the world substantially better" (along with Tim Minchin) and that made something 'click' in my head that made me start liking him... I can't really explain, I think maybe I took him too seriously before, but if you take him as just really dry comedy, you appreciate him more. Though I can fully understand why he wouldnt appeal to a lot of people.
