I want to admire her as a villain but I simply cannot forget the fact that this story was inspired by countless tragedies caused by school violence. It's fun to see her as a stereotypical vamp with amazing style. I had to at times just so I could stomach the show. But you also have to remember, she's a representation of all the kids that could use their influence to get out of their punishments. They're sociopaths that did horrific things most of us couldn't dream of doing and got away with them.
What influence is that? In my country, bullies are always correctly punished by teachers, wheether their families have money or not. The message of this show (teachers will NEVER take disciplinary actions against a buñly just becsuse their parents have money) is ridiculous. The same applies to hiding a murder. In South Korea the police would have needed less than 1 week to know she was the murderer and would have gone to a minor detention center. But real life is too boring for a show, so they took their artistic licencies.
@@jameswalker6864 As much as I also want to believe this is made up for a show, it's not. This may not be realistic in the eyes of Western culture, but I highly suggest you look into the stories of school violence in Asian countries.
The Glory was based on many REAL stories of bullying in East Asian countries where victims were driven to suicide because of the physical AND emotional torture they endured at the hands of their bullies, and these bullies had minimal repercussions. Stephanie Soo has an excellent video that details 9 real bullying cases that inspired the show. I'm still at a loss of words thinking about some of these stories. Time Magazine has an article that says that socioeconomic divide in South Korea is not the only contributing factor to bullying, but its a pretty big one.
Appearance and influence is a huge problem in South Korea, to the point that if you get fired from one job, it's incredibly difficult to get hired for a similar job elsewhere in the country, regardless of your reason for being fired.
@@jameswalker6864in YOUR country. but in countries like south korea, this is real, and it happens. why do you think korean netizens take it VERY seriously when an idol has bullying scandals? because the bullying that happens in SK isn’t some mere cursing or name calling, it’s worse than that, you could even say the bullying there is nearly attempted murder with the horrible things that happen there. and a lot of south koreans have come out and said that the bullying in the glory is similar to the bullying that happens daily in their schools
Kpop idols who were accused of bullying never got punished in their younger age. It will come and bite these shits anyhow @@jameswalker6864
@@jameswalker6864”in my country” as if the show isn’t obviously korean??? the language is korean, the actors are korean, produced in korea, and yet you still felt the need to talk about your country ???
When an actor can make you hate and like em that is a good character! Kudos to the teenage version actor also.
She should go down as one of the greatest villains we've ever seen on screen!
she is one of the greatest villians 🙌
Reminder that ‘being savage’ isn’t the same as ‘being a bully’. Yeonjin isn’t a savage. Saying that this behavior is ‘savage’ is justifying her bullying and atrocious behavior.
@@asanokatana Her lines aren’t savage either, they’re just plain mean/rude. Being mean doesn’t make you a savage. Why don’t you check yourself and grow up instead?
I think it’s mostly being used to describe how Park Yeonjin would stop at nothing to get what she wants, at least in this case.
I hate this title of “savage” as to me it refers to a badass female character. Dong Eun had WAY more savage lines than Yeon Jin as she actually put pathetic people in their place. Being cruel and an evil psychopath is not being savage. Implying that Yeon Jin is any way badass or savage is disgraceful to bullying victims. Liking the actress is fine and all but glorifying such a character is disgusting
I see where you're coming from and I agree. If we were to hear a true crime case about this, we wouldn't have a shred of doubt in our minds that she should get prison time for what she did. I cried my eyes out after hearing about the actual cases that inspired this show (Stephanie Soo did an excellent video on this topic). She shouldn't be excused of her crimes just because she is a gorgeous tall Asian woman with money and influence. THAT is the greater statement this show is trying to get across.
They meant a savage interpretation, not character.
Who's Stephanie Soo? Also, crimes commited by minors are subjected to a different law in all countries including South Korea. An underage person commiting a crime doesn't go to jail, but to a minor centre detention. Also, most forms of bullying are NOT A CRIME as per the penal code of more countries. What they show in the series is obviously a crime (murder and burning other people), but merely putting a derogatory nickname and laughing at another person (the most common form of bullying), is immoral but not a crime.
@@jameswalker6864 you have nothing to back this up
@@user-ps1gj6pb1owhat he said is true though lol. Most verbal bullying don’t count as crimes, even some physical abuse don’t. Also most of the keyboard warriors here can only pretend to be saints online but would be the first to run a way when they see bullying irl😂
What I find quite interesting about this character is that she stops at nothing and is ready to do anything to achieve her goals! She's the kind of girl who would stand before the Devil and say « Hell isn't intense enough for me. » 🔥🙃
best actress of the year
She really is🤗
Her co-worker gave her back and i like that 🤣
Me too 🤗 .
Ikr, love her for that
In which chapter does the scene of the first clip appear?
The day she teams up with Lee Jaewook in a badass project will start a new era of beautiful main character villains.
Lim Jiyeon 😍

🙌
Yeonjin was a terrible person, but her co-worker Sumi was a jerk too ngl
yeah
True
Ah yes, the iconic green dress!
🤗
I will never understand why Koreans are portrayed to let people mentally and physically abuse them, without fighting back. They just take it.
Because they are being bullied by people who have “more power” over them. Trust me, it’s not because they don’t want do. They legit can’t.
That’s why I left Korea. I would visit and try to focus on the good things but it seems to me people here will never change.
I wish Netflix would cast her as Azula 😭 She has all the Azula vibe
The Glory 3: Revenge of Ssibalyeoni 😂😂😂😂

Idk why but i watched the glory only for her and i didn't liked how she ended at last ....
...you didn't like the fact that she was a sociopath that burned and injured people just because they didn't have as much money and influence as her? Don't get me wrong, she was creative and good at being a villain and I see that. I just wonder if you would have the same sentiments towards real people who committed similar atrocities with zero care for innocent people. Don't let her beauty blind you. Beneath the surface, she's rotten to the core.
why not??? I’m happy with it yet at the same time she deserved more hell for what she did…the way she lost everything and everyone close to her…she brought that all on herself
I’ve always liked Korean girls! 🥰🤗😍
Ok
Oh…… So she's Yeonjin…… I saw this movie on a recap, heard about it again being reference on a joke, they finally connects.
It's not a movie
I really didn't like her character she was simply an evil person but ❤ the show.
❤❤🎉🎉👍👍💯
