  • @matix916
    @matix916 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Dear Marco, I've just started using oils (inspired by your content ofc!) and I have a question to you: once you are done with Oil layer, do you ever go with acrylics over that layer? Wanted to make sure if it is possible and what should the conditiona be like (drying time for sure, but how long to be safe? My ghouls are currently drying on shelf for over a day but they kinda seem to leave some really slight dusty like residue on fingers when checked with fingers (was highlighting the way you did your orc shaman))? I am just wondering if I could do final touchups with acrylics over that oil part, without ruining acrylics designsted brushes etc

    • @timwelch175
      @timwelch175 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you're worried about the brushes primarily, it is acrylics that will ruin an oil brush, not the other way around. Oils clean off completely and don't creep up the bristles the way acrylics do. No matter how clean you keep an acrylic brush, the build up and the base of the bristles will eventually split and destroy the tip. The only real oil related issue I know of is that mineral spirits will WRECK a natural bristle brush which most of us use for acrylics. Just my experience. If Marco chimes in with different advice, please take his word over mine.

    • @thealgorerhythm9379
      @thealgorerhythm9379 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Have a look at Marco's guides, but in general, acrylics over oils are fine. Artists working on large canvas paintings usually advise not to layer acrylics over the oils, as it forms a cracked finish over time, but they are working with quantities of paint far far higher than anything you could put on a mini!

    The new Kruleboyz and Hobgrotz are VASTLY superior in aesthetics and mood, compared to the Brian Nelson cartoon Orks/Orcs we used to have. Those old ones had massive heads in the middle of their chest, with smiling teeth completely rounded to look like an open carton of eggs, and were absolutely not menacing at all. Just goofy; and not in a good way. These new ones, along with the Beastsnaggas, give us sharp teeth, cuts and wrinkles, better proportions, fierce weapons, better scale, better everything.

    Ciao Marco, da poco ho iniziato a seguirti e mi piace molto la tua tecnica. Una domanda che sicuramente avrai risposto centinaia di volte... cosa usi per diluire i colori ad olio? Grazie ciao!

      Ciao! Grazie mille 😊 Uso semplice acquaragia inodore del ferramenta; per i nostri piccoli volumi ne servono quantità microscopiche (la maggior parte va per pulire i pennelli!) e quel tipo di qualità/raffinazione basta e avanza per diluire

    I used this with a green added to the black/brown wash with more brown and less black on my Kroot and it turned out amazing.

    i have just started painting and i have NO acces to specialized materials (since i live in Argentina, in a little town and have just lost my job to the pandemic) so i'm starting to paint only with brushes (some medium/high marta ones, most other good regular ones made of pig or artificial hair) and regular acrilic.
    So, how should i start to think on my projects? i made a horrible 3 orks in about 4 hour per model, because i'm quite incompetent and was happy with some of the results and unconvinced with many of the details... but seing how you worked with the natural coverage you got from the first cenithal aplications i'm thinking that i didn't take anything of the light into account, but now that i think of it i don't know how to do that only with brushes.
    Anyhow, thanks for your super clear videos, and thanks a bunch!

    Hey Marco, i was wondering if you have any plan to paint the "Splintered Fang" Warband (the snake boys) for a video. I know you havbe already plenty of warbands painted but iam curious what colorscheme you would do with them. Have a great day!

    Marco, do you varnish you army models and if you do, what do you use to protect them. I don't want to varnish some of mine due to them having matte paint and TMM paints on them. The matte varnish dulls my TMM too much. how do you work around this?

    Avrò visto questo video una decina di volte. Sto dipingendo i miei hobgrot usando lo stesso schema di colori anche se io non ho l'airbrush (uso il drybrush per dare lo stesso effetto). I colori ad olio li sto usando per l prima volta e devo dire che mi trovo bene. Li trovo estremamente maneggevoli. Grazie dei consigli e complimenti per il canale

      @@MarcoFrisoniNJM assolutamente si. Con un po' di pratica sono fenomenali. Le mie miniature fatte ad olio hanno ancora un aspetto "sporco" ma l'effetto è incredibile. L'unica cosa che non ho capito è se usi solo l'acquaragia per diluirli o anche l'olio di lino
