  • This video depicts a condensed version of the entire Day 1 race course from Old Forge NY to Blue Mountain Lake NY (Approx. 35 miles). The first day took me over 8 hours to complete and contains over 4.5 miles of portaging. If you passed me or I passed you then you're probably in this video. If you offered me any words of encouragement or rang a bell from any bridge, dock or portage then you are probably in this video.

Tip for bitting flies (stable flies). Deed does not work! I sail a peco on Raquette Lake, in shorts and a PFD. I have found if I apply a heavy layer of water proof sunblock, not rubbing it in completely the flies don't make a meal out of my legs. In the evenings I wear socks that are treated with permiathan.

Thank you for this. The video clarified my understanding of how the 90 miler really works. 4.5 miles of portaging is Uck.

The first day of the 90 miler is no joke. Year 2 I was much more prepared.

Itching to do this race but certainly need to train! 😂 Do you see a lot of people using kayaks?

Yes there are quite a few kayaks. The weight of your boat is an important consideration though.
