The most well-known eagle species include the golden eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus), and the harpy eagle (Harpia harpyja). Eagles are generally long-lived birds. They can live 20 to 30 years in their natural habitat and longer in captivity. Their breeding periods vary depending on their species and the regions they live in. Female eagles often build large nests and lay 1 to 3 eggs at a time. The incubation period of eggs varies between approximately 35-45 days.
