Pauline ! You were a pioneer in the amazing pUnK revolution from 76! Along with Siouxsie, Debbie Harry, Polystyrene, Gaye Advert, The Slits, Faye Fife etc, you led the charge for strong independent Women in Rock 'n' Roll, and we Love you for it! You still look and sound Great ! Wish you were playing Rebellion in 2022! dx
'Coming Up For Air' was the album that really made me aware of Penetration, with 'Life's a Gamble' (Lifeline being a personal favourite) the bait to Penetration. It's only in retrospect I appreciate just how great a band they are. Listening to 'Moving Targets' and 'Coming...' and 'Race Against Time' again in later years, I acknowledge the musicianship and intellect behind the songs. Penetration were/are one of the bands that truly got what the scene was about. Not a facsimile of the headliners of the Punk movement, but true ambassadors of the spirit. Like the wonderful X-Ray Spex and the Buzzcocks, they put their stamp on the genre. A wonderful band, led by an beautiful, charismatic vocalist with a voice from heaven. Sublime.
Saw these guys for the first time ever just last week in Liverpool. Awesome, awesome, awesome is all I can say. Pauline still has that amazing voice....
Yesterday is just a memory..................everything's been done before. Still got the attitude. That's ALL that matters. Thanks for the guest list thing, you are beautiful. X
This is excellent; like so much of their early stuff it endures. Nice to see John on drums. First time I saw him he wasn't much more than 18. Time certainly flies.
The past has gone and time is moving on The present is a gift that won’t last long The ebb and flow will come and go As things unfold without control Yesterday is just a memory Tomorrow is an unknown certainty Your hopes and dreams like birds fly in the air Where peace and happiness is all you wear If fear is a foe, tell it to go If fear is your guide, there’s nowhere to hide Moving through the cycles of the sun For eternity and the beat goes on The beat goes on What’s the point of keeping score Nothing adds up anymore Everything’s been done before Lose the battle, win the war The ebb and flow will come and go As things unfold without control Yesterday is just a memory Tomorrow is an unknown certainty Moving through the cycles of the sun For eternity and the beat goes on The beat goes on On and on
Yes this is great. I was just slightly too young to appreciate this band at the time, but did get into the Invisible Girls album, which I have on vinyl, cassette & the much more recent CDs with extras. Now to dig out some Penetration CDs!
Excellent - I remember buying your album to try and get my older brother into punk more - him and his wife are coming with me and my wife to see you supporting The Damned.
Superb knocks spots off virtually everything that charts nowadays. Such an uplifting vibe. Should have been far more successful !!. We need a punk revival full of 3 minute power pop energy laden tunes. Feel sorry for the kids of today forced to listen to the current turgid music scene littered with rap, reality stars, r&b & soul.
+Vincent 79 Unfortunately I believe the problem is more deep rooted than just Simon Cowell & Co, over the last 10+ years the record industry seems to be hell bent on brainwashing the record buying public into believing that we should be forced to listen to Black American Street/Gangster Rap, bland R&B & soul tracks and wannabee hopefuls, Kids don't seem to have a choice nowadays to listen to the variety of talent we had in years gone bye.
+boojiboy6236 Agree, but I do feel that the kids of today would have no interest in Punk bands like Penetration for example. Punk came along at just the right time in the late 1970's. I think kids now entertain themselves with computer games & technology. Music does not mean that much to them anymore, even the NME has had to become a free magazine when it was once a big selling influential music paper.
+Vincent 79 Unfortunately what you say is true, I just find it sad that the digital age and the corporate music industry are restricting the styles of music that deserve a much greater audience there seems to be so little variety in the charts nowadays.
Too generic. There are two things missing from this production. A Martin and a Hannett. But those two things are extremely difficult to come by these days. This is a long departure from The Visitor, Two Shots, Drummer boy, and so on. They had depth. A lot of freaking depth.
Was played today at a friends funeral. Very moving

Wow what a great song I discovered at the albert hall of all places. Never too old to learn. Thanks Pauline.
This is excellent; like so much of their early stuff it endures. Nice to see John on drums. First time I saw him he wasn't much more than 18. Time certainly flies.
Like a fine wine.
She's gorgeous after all these years, and the voice hasn't change a bit...

The past has gone and time is moving on
The present is a gift that won’t last long
The ebb and flow will come and go
As things unfold without control
Yesterday is just a memory
Tomorrow is an unknown certainty
Your hopes and dreams like birds fly in the air
Where peace and happiness is all you wear
If fear is a foe, tell it to go
If fear is your guide, there’s nowhere to hide
Moving through the cycles of the sun
For eternity and the beat goes on
The beat goes on
What’s the point of keeping score
Nothing adds up anymore
Everything’s been done before
Lose the battle, win the war
The ebb and flow will come and go
As things unfold without control
Yesterday is just a memory
Tomorrow is an unknown certainty
Moving through the cycles of the sun
For eternity and the beat goes on
The beat goes on
On and on
Thank you, I couldn't quite catch all of it. Genius.
Lovely little solo in there

+boojiboy6236 There is no chance of kids getting into Punk now, we have Simon Cowell & Co to thank for this.

Nah, she's not better than Patty Smith, never heard of this singer, either....
...and I've never heard of Patty Smith
She's old.
