    Thanks for posting this. I was on the 158 at the time, although thankfully I didn't sustain any major injuries. Google returned this video while I was trying to figure out when it happened.

    158833 now works for Transport For Wales, last time it was seen by myself, it was hooked up to a class 142 at Crosskeys Station, heading for Ebbw Vale Town from Cardiff Central, all 4 coaches were full of Xmas Shoppers, it was also running about half hour late

    do we know what was the cause of the accident 27 years ago driver error or signalling error

    • @ChangesOneTim
      @ChangesOneTim ปีที่แล้ว

      Driver error - his train was given a signalled indication to enter an occupied platform line at caution but he didn't control the speed of the train correctly.

    What was the cause in the end?

    • @jamtart606
      @jamtart606 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Human Error, driver of the 158 passed signal at danger.

    • @ChangesOneTim
      @ChangesOneTim ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamtart606
      No. The driver of the 158 got a 'calling on' indication at the relevant signal. This consists of two small white lights beneath the main red signal lamp plus the platform number, meaning that the platform line ahead may be occupied and to prepare to stop short. Very common facility provided at many busy stations, known as permissive working. The human error was that he failed to control the speed of his train correctly after passing the signal.

      Yes, but for the reason I stated and not through "passing a signal at danger".
