“I hope that’s helpful”??? Jonathan I can’t thank you enough for the Dstar tutorial. I’ve never come across anything as helpful as this regarding Dstar. Looking forward to getting setup on my 9700 this weekend. Thanks a million. Stay safe ML&S peeps and cheers again.
Having just bought an Id52e, my first Vhf/Uhf Radio, i found it a mine field. Having never used 2/70 i found it really confusing. I'm now kind of upto speed on the radio itself but Dstar opened a rather large can of worms. I did everything i was told as regards to registering etc but still felt i was nowhere nearer to understanding. Having now watched this video on setup, its actually cleared things up and realised the reason i couldnt access Dstar repeaters simply because i was out of range of my nearest repeater. Next job is to get a hotspot so i can use it at home. Well worth watching and explained to the way even a simplton like me could understand. Thank you. 73
Excellent video. Is it possible you could do a video showing what the process is to do D-Star directly through the 705 connected to your home wireless without a hotspot?
On that first IC-7300 you showed, the power cable didn't have the huge filter on it (as far as I could tell), can this type of power cable be bought separately?
Great video! Where did you download the UK FM repeater and node lists? Keen to do the same, but haven't found a good source. DV were good from dstarinfo
Blimey, this is the most useful video I've ever seen regarding D-Star setup and linking to a reflector. When you get the chance, please can you do one on the 9700 and a bit more detail about using the programming software. 73, Jonathan M0XXJ
Hi Jonathan, The CS-9700 software is broadly the same as the CS-705 software. We may do a follow up video for other Icom transceivers in due course. Jonathan
Excellent video and thank you. I am new to digital after a few years absent so learning and just received my 705 from you guys last week, so will try this. I have Openspot 3, a silly question perhaps, why do this when I just tune to my openspot frequency, is that you control the openspot from the radio, please? I see it, please?
Hi Ray, I don’t know specifically about the OpenSpot 3 I’m afraid, however the reason to do this is to get the full DR mode experience. If you do use the VFO mode you will probably still need to set up the DUP shift with a 0kHz shift. Jonathan
My eyes grow wider, my mouth drops open and my tongue hits the floor seeing all that nice equipment. Nice info for D-Star, thank-you muchly Jonathan.

Great video on d star and I’ve watched quite a few this weekend trying to get my pi star working. 👍
Nice new Polo’s.. 👍🏻
Brilliant DStar instruction, thank you

Hi Martin,
The repeater info is loaded into the radio when new. You can download the files from Icom UK’s dedicated DSTAR website.

@@Martin_Lynch Thank you Jonathan, I will check Icom's website.. Mine didn't have the FM repeaters and I'm really keen to add!

PS: I don't see the RPT1 or RPT2 on openspot, not tried the os3 yet, any pointers please?
