Information on case 1: At the end of 1991, Hoang Quoc Hung and Nguyen The Tan (both born in 1971 and residing in Hat Lot town, Mai Son district, Son La province) invited each other to dig for gold in Na Ri district, Bac Kan province. . Here, the two saw gold miners using military guns. Because they had no military weapons, the two returned to Hat Lot town, Mai Son district to live and look for an opportunity to return to Bac Can province to mine gold. After investigating, they learned that many types of guns were kept at the Mai Son district's armory, so they invited each other to appropriate them.
Information on case 2: On a night in June 1992, Tan and Hung broke into the warehouse of Mai Son district and took away 07 AK guns, along with 12 magazines with 240 bullets. After having guns, the two men invited each other to use guns to rob property to get money to go to Bac Kan province. Said and done, in the evening of the same day, the two brought guns to the Chieng Dong slope area and crawled into a sewer to wait. At about 5:00 p.m. the next day, they saw a truck carrying goods coming from the direction of Yen Chau district. The two immediately pointed the gun barrel at the car, pulled the trigger, and fired several shots, puncturing the tire, breaking the car's front windshield, and causing a person sitting in the passenger seat to be shot through the right shoulder blade. When the two men were about to go to the car to rob the property, they saw a truck coming from behind; Because they were afraid of being exposed, they both ran away to Hat Lot town and hid two guns in a cave behind Hung's house and fled.
