As an European, I wonder how many Americans even know who Hitler was, let alone what he did. Only few veterans who fought in WW2 are still alive. Only 80 years passed since then, and it is sad to see that many just forgot the lessons from History.

Elections matter. Fear, hatred, and political rhetoric don't solve problems. I am voting for the candidate with a plan vs. one with concepts of a plan. We are stronger as a nation when we lift each other up instead of tearing us down.

There is, in my mind, no question-particularly after observing the array of speakers who have supported her at recent electoral rallies-that this election is not merely a contest between Democrats and Republicans. Rather, as I suggested in my earlier reflections, it is a battle between a coalition of responsible persons, committed to the American institutions and their future - comprising Democrats, long-standing and principled Republicans, and also responsible unaffiliated individuals - might fittingly be called the "Party of America," under the stewardship of Vice President Harris, and on the other hand, they face a ragtag assembly of Trumpian loyalists, fervent MAGA fanatics, sectarian and backward-looking religious zealots, white supremacists, American neofascists, functionally illiterate individuals, those clinically afflicted by cognitive dissonance, and finally, the disenfranchised mostly working in labour-intensive sectors with low- or no-skilled jobs who likely lack the capacity to grasp the full complexity of reality. These disparate groups collectively form what could be termed the "Party of Outlaws," led by Donald Trump.
Indeed, to enrich the argument further, one might delve into the nuanced undercurrents of this socio-political schism, where the divergence transcends mere policy differences and enters the realm of existential contestation over the very essence of governance and civic responsibility. On one side, we observe a coalition that embodies the principles of Enlightenment rationalism; those who understand the intricate, interwoven nature of modern governance, the necessity of expertise, and the delicate balance required to maintain democratic institutions.
This "Party of America," led by Vice President Harris, is not merely a partisan faction but a consortium of individuals who recognise that safeguarding the Republic demands not only a profound respect for its constitutional framework but also a commitment to empirical knowledge, ethical leadership, and a forward-looking vision that reconciles tradition with progress.
In stark contrast, the opposing "Party of Outlaws" helmed by Donald Trump represents a rejection of this enlightened governance, embracing instead a populist ethos steeped in reactionary impulses. This bifurcation in the electorate, therefore, is not simply between two political entities vying for control of the state apparatus but between two fundamentally different visions of society. One side envisions a polity that values pluralism, thoughtful deliberation, and a shared sense of responsibility for the collective future. The other, tragically, indulges in a corrosive form of nihilism, where the rule of law is subordinate to personal grievance, and the complexities of governance are dismissed as irrelevant to their simplistic worldview. When I campaign has to roll out a popular former president and has to resort to having celebrities entertain to bring in crowds, we can believe that that campaign is falling apart and has come to an end.
