1929 AK Truck of the Month November 2022

The Mack AK was the lighter duty, more nimble, relative of the historic AC Mack. Typically outfitted with pneumatic tires, the AK quickly established a foothold in delivery around urban areas. The slightly larger cab with a wood framed windshield was more pleasant on the passengers and the cab-side gasoline fill made refueling simpler. The AK was available with dual reduction drive, but many were ordered with the reliable chain drive. This fine example was restored to honor an innovator in the Waste Collection industry, Wayne Huizenga, founder of Republic services. The truck was donated to the Mack Trucks Historical Museum by Republic Services in 2019.
