This was super necessary for me. CS is a lot of self-learning and I think that taking initiative to learn things, while is not a part of a job description, is mandatory for developers if they want to actually learn and make beneficial progress towards tasks.
I’m just about to start my very first programming job which uses visual studio as the IDE and this video makes it slightly easier in understanding what the first week is like
I think the ramp-up plan point was great, especially about being proactive with it if the manager doesn't have one. Do you have suggestions about general milestones that could be good for each? You had a good one for 15-day, like "schedule weekly 1-on-1 with Manager"
I'm going through my first week at the new company and found the ramp up plan idea to be super useful! Thank you for your helpful insight! :)
