Good job Dave! I'm glad to see someone else appreciates the smoothness of cut of the 4 degree blades.

Thanks Sue. I learned a long time ago that a sense of humor is a great distraction to a lack of ability.

Man that does leave a nice finish. Did you brush the sawdust off between, or is that the way the blade leaves it??

I use a 12" drywall knife to remove the sawdust. Much faster than a brush.

Just the opposite!. Trying to finish a house we're renovating. Planning on going to Matt's on Friday to mill some logs. Hope to have a new video out as soon as Sunday.
      Thanks for noticing.

Is the blade/machine self propelled or manly? You were talking about having to go slower with this blade to get a better outcome but couldn't you go at the same speed as this blade with the other blade to get a better looking piece of wood?

First of all Sue EVERYTHING I do is manly........at least that's what I tell people.
The 4 degree blade (4/34) just can't cut as fast as the Turbo 7 blade (7/39) I usually use. It's all in the profile design. The Turbo 7 blade cuts faster but has a tendency to leave chatter marks in the board if it's not run fast enough.
In the end, most rough cut hardwood lumber will be processed further which should remove all surface defects so, I guess, chatter marks are not a big deal.

Why don't you box the heart?

    • @TheOldManAndTheSaw

Great catch! You're paying attention. I prefer to see what's inside a log before I arbitrarily select and remove a "bad" area.

@@TheOldManAndTheSaw boxing the heart is when you saw for grade. Always chosing the best face. You live sawed it which does not yield as high grade of material. It puts the heart through the center of the boards.
