    I just graduated from High school about three months ago, and bought my first car as a 93 Jeep Wrangler Yj with low mileage, no engine and exterior problems, and with a shocking low price. You are one of many people who inspired me to get this magnificent vehicle and to enjoy driving it, while understanding the feeling you have when you were trying to explain about the sensations of driving old cars. Hope for the best that you take care of Emo.

    Great video, reminded me of a documentary. My wife and I have 4 Jeeps. 2 JLUs, 1 JK and a YJ. JLU's are our daily drivers (2021 Sahara and 2024 Rubicon). We love the classic simplicity of the YJ and it is the source of all our fun little projects to make it our own. Today she is getting a new top and a deep cleaning. Our JK is a 2-door and gets towed behind our RV. It too is a fun Jeep to drive and play with.

    I love my '94. I've had a bunch of great cars that I've enjoyed but none that I love like my Jeep. I did buy a CJ front clip that's sitting in my garage that I'll put on eventually, it's on the long list of improvements and upgrades. And yes, I do feel a bit disloyal about my plan but there's something about CJ round headlights, the taller grill and the flat dash that I love, too.
    I'm on the hunt for a second Jeep, a '95 Sahara with reasonable mileage, a 4.0l and a 5 speed which I'll keep stock.

    aww man, this makes me emotional dude! I have a 1994 Jeep YJ 2.5 automatic as my daily driver, and Ive had her for about a year. In fact tommorow will be my jeeps 1 year anniversary of when I got her. Unfortunately with more issues going on, such as the windshild wipers and low beams not working except for high beams, I just cant afford to spend more money on maintaining her as much as I can. I had to cancel my Jurassic park build because of expenses for fixing other issues. I love my jeep, I managed to learn alot while owning her, changing the starter, fixing the horn, checking my oil, trying to fix the dimmer switch, as well as the general maintenance. Her engine powered by those four angry squirrels is still strong! but being a college student, and not being as mechnically inclined, its not easy. I was hesitant at first, but now Ive decided to agree with my dad on getting a new jeep possibly a two door JL. still the fact that I will have to sell her hurts, cause Ive had alot of great memories, met alot of great people/jeepers and she truely gave me smiles per gallons. she actually saved me on gas! I only spend 40 dollars on gas and she gives me a whole week and a half, and thats 6 days out of the 7 day week that I drive sometimes! I wished she was my secondary vehicle because maybe just maybe I would be able to keep her as a secondary project/weekender and truely learn how to work on her more. This video is really making me second guess on selling her! I love my squares!
    beautiful rig! and cant wait to see what you will work on in the future for Emo!

    • @SimplyMustGo
      @SimplyMustGo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man. That’s so hard. I totally get it. Fixing the wipers is pretty easy. I did that without much issue and it was pretty cheep to get the new motor. But I hear you. I’m not much of a mechanic either.

    This is spot on. Hard to reproduce the YJ feeling in a TJ and newer. Cannot explain it, but you explained it well! You are outside more, I will say that. Outside, and sitting further back over the rear axle. Half doors help big time, too.

    I almost got emotional watching this.
    My first car was a 93 YJ. My parents got it for me in '96, and was my daily for the next 5 years from college to my first "real" job. As the issues rose, lack of time, money, and know-how to keep it going, I eventually traded it in.

    I rarely comment on videos, but I had to on yours. This was AWESOME! I love the YJ, always have, I like the unique look of the "square eyes". I currently own the YJ my dad bought new in 91, and I went with him to the dealership to pick it up and drive the 100 miles home in it. As a teen, I chose to ride in this gutless wonder over the fox body Mustang my mom was driving. This video has inspired me to make a little different video of my baby, my love, my toy. I totally agree with you. I started my Jeep YJ journey two years ago with the purchase of a 1994 Jeep YJ for $650. Needless to say, it was in horrible condition with massive holes in the floor, completely rusted through rockers, completely worn out suspension, crumbled body mounts and too many other things to be named. But there was something about it that I felt was worth saving. With blood, sweat, tears and money, I’ve been able to get her back to her former glory. It’s been fun learning how to weld, trouble shoot and conquer all of the challenges she’s thrown at me. I wouldn’t change a thing.

    Nice video!!
    95 YJ (blue) owner here, my wife and I absolutely love our YJ soft top. We bought it for 5k with a rebuilt engine with only 23k miles on it, everything was stock on it.
    So we spent some money on mods, 3" suspension lift, 1" body lift, new rims and new 33×12.5 tires, front bumper with winch, rear bumper with tire carrier, new soft top and frame, new tub carpet (Bed Liner brand), rock guards etc. We love our YJ, we call it "ODD SOUL" when out driving it around we get lots of looks and compliments. Started watching your videos about a week ago, and one video you did that I'm going to do is replace the Dana 30 front axle 4wd lock with the permanent lock, Excellent video by the way! Just bought my first Jeep for my wife. I have been a mechanic for 45 years and it is so refreshing to get back to a vehicle SO simple to work on, I can see the whole engine! I have a Ram 3500 6.7 diesel which also has an inline six it is still hard and expensive to work on. I worked on 70 and 80 Jeeps back as an apprentice and now returned to my roots. Long live the squares!

    Had my 91 for about 22 years. Bought it from a guy in my Jeep Club, the original owner, as it was better setup than my '89 (plus efi vs carter carb!). This was in California, 6 months later we moved back to the UK so i sold the 89 and shipped the 91 here. It's been wheeled in the US, Mexico, England and Wales. Not many can claim that. On it's third engine as the original block cracked during shipping, the XJ engine replacement wore out it's cylinders (went oval shaped) and it's currently using a TJ engine.

    But I had to remember that other than the grill and hood, the CJ guys had been swapping YJ tubs, frames, springs and the 4.0 engine for decades!! We’ve had two of them, still have a black 94 on 33’s with the 2.5 liters of angry squirrels and 4.88 gears. It’s a good reliable daily driver and reasonably fuel efficient and really turns heads!! We've owned our '93 since it was initially a lease return at a local Jeep dealership, and it's been a permanent member of our family ever since. Countless memories... and you're exactly right, it's very difficult to put into words how it feels to drive. The only words I can muster is that it "feels like home". I never imagined (back then) that it would now be considered a classic Jeep and we'd be custodians of a piece of important Jeep history.

    Great episode. I started my "Jeep Life" with a '85 CJ-7 I bought new when I lived in San Diego. A couple years later Jeep introduced the YJ and I thought, What? Square headlights? I just didn't like it because of that. Since then I've owned a '98 TJ, '95 XJ and 3 Grand Cherokees. Now my "daily" is a '08 JK Sahara and guess what I've Loved the All. I also now have a respect for the YJ. That's because they're All JEEPS and in my world, that's enough for me. If I see someone in a YJ I do the "Jeep Wave" like I do for any other Jeep and I'll tell the owner, Hey, Cool Squares!! Now back home in Tennessee it come down to "It's A Jeep Thing". Thanks for reminding us of all that. As always, "Keep on Jeepin"...
