- This great one hour press conference isn't on TH-cam in its full length so I figured I'd share to fellow Dylanites.
I DO NOT OWN THIS!

I apologize for the sub-par video quality.
I could fall asleep listing to his voice
6:25 that 'freeze-out' 10 minute song he's talking about, was retitled to the 'visions of johanna'. thanks wiki
The great thing about Dylan was that he knew that they were all just trying to commercialize him, pigeonhole him as a "folk singer", or a "protest singer" or "the poet and voice of the sixties" or whatever and wrap him in cellophane, but he was always two steps ahead of it.
Yeah, totally!xx
@thomashjorthaab "Freeze Out" was released under the name "Visions of Johanna" (most likely taken from Kerouac) on his "Blonde on Blonde" album. There's a heavily bootlegged early recording of it titled "(Seems Like a) Freeze Out".
hahaha Allen Ginsberg in the audience. Anybody catch that? He's the one that asked Dylan whats the weirdest thing that's ever happened to him.
Dylan was a little pissed at Ginsberg for that, and says "I wouldn't do that to you!"
And Michael Mclure.
Bill Graham too.
the immense respect I have for this guy
Dylan was messing with everybody throughout the whole conference, pretty much had them on a string all throughout. I dont really think he cared at all about what was being asked, and just randomly answered whatever he thought was funny/amusing without giving it much thought.
At 6:24, that's Bill Graham asking the question...
I love how that guy around 3:05 asked about when will Bob know when to go out of the music industry to do something else,...and Bobby's STILL going now! :D Yehhhh :D Hehe :)
And now!!!
this guy was just completely in his own world... didn't know how to fucking morph into common society, yet was as good as anyone. weird to say, but i feel more like bobby back in the mid 60's than anyone, in any other time period...
i find that to be a weird comment.
I don't know if you're still looking for it but you can find two versions of it on the 'Thin Wild Mercury Music' bootleg!
He talks about Ballad of Hollis Brown and With God on our Side being on his second album even though they're on Times which was his third. Does this mean he's discounted his first as being a proper album because it only had two original compositions? Interesting if so
I love his laugh 💕x x
Freeze out? Has it ever been released, or is it released under another name?
He's one cool fucker.
Great audience of people, good questions except for some, particularly mr motorcycle at the start.
Bill Graham, 6:20
He's always doing things with his mouth when he's in thought ^^ Biting his lips, licking them XDDD It's cute.
yes beautiful
Lol, "a constitutional replay of mass production"... i think he went for the most absurd definition he could find.
why yes, yes it is.... RIP BiLL G.
The Mid-West.
Cigarette after cigarette. How is he not dead?
Dylan never a straight answer lol
He's only 24 at that time. Why do they think he knows anything? What do they imagine he can reveal? He's a song & dance man, as he points out. Why do they think he has something profound to offer? Very, very change: the squares were so dim-witted then.
That's because of the strength of his songs.
Fun to see Bob Dylan smile so much! =>
God, the undertone deepness in his voice is so arousing to me. Ugh.
I'm blown away by the excellent camera work and the audio.
One has to marvel at Dylan's progression as an artist. What a talent. You have to feel bad for Dylan. The burden on him must have been overwhelming to say the least, especially from this period til 1966 when he was injured in that motorcycle accident.
I swear that's Allen Ginsberg there who asked Dylan what the strangest thing that ever happened to him.
"It would be kind of dishonest for me to sing them now because I wouldn't really feel like singing them.
Allen Ginsberg's question is by far the best
He likes them cigarettes, glad he is still around, he must have quit sometime ago...
It's too bad that George Harrison didn't quit soon enough.....
Whatever you want to call it, I am glad to be able to wach it.. he kind of made his own inside jokes, the longer that he sat there, but,..never seen him this civil, or 'polite' with the press.
He's not particular witty or clever, although everyone imagines that he is just waiting to reveal a deep insight. But he's bemused. He's honest. He knows he doesn't know that much. Kind of surprised that people thinks he does know something.
Dylan was a top troll when it came to the media. I'm not surprised that people think he knows something because PEOPLE ARE IDIOTS. Dylan would say that his songs didn't have significant hidden meanings or
messages behind them and that he just wrote songs because it makes him and others happy....but, still, IDIOTS think there's something there. 85% of the viewing and listening public is over-analytical and ignorant.
They did have significance, but the meaning wasn't hidden. This was part of his "cool:" to pretend he didn't know he was creating "meaningful" songs. He didn't want to be a typical "folkie" or liberal of the time. He was much more radical, or original.
Richard Koenigsberg He knew what he was doing, but the arrogance of Dylan fans to say that he's some kind of prophet is nonsense. Dylan made it very clear that he was just a songwriter and did what he did because he enjoyed it and enjoyed making people happy. That was the significance. Any social revolution was irrelevant. When Baez tried to turn him into a protest artist, he pretty much lost all interest in her and left her in his wake.
While some on principles baptized
To strict party platform ties
Social clubs in drag disguise
Outsiders they can freely criticize
Tell nothing except who to idolize
And then say God bless him
i generally like the utube commentors here under dylan vids . . which is an unusual utube suprise.
Very lovely and very funny interview
@thomashjorthaab It has only appeared on either 'Blonde on Blonde sessions' or 'The Genuine Bootleg Series' neither of which have been released. I actually had it , but lost it. :/ Hope it will officially see the light of day soon.
Classic Ginsberg 2:01.
funny!!! XD
Who is the I'm cool in the front row with sunglasses on in a building?
Girl at 7:10 is so adorable..
Bob always does that, you silly. If you wanna think about the drugs he was on, go ahead, I'll stick to just watching him and listening. ^^
exactly....all the guys are analyzing his music....and us girls are analyzing his uniqueness and facial mannerisms.....it's like he's a little kid in detention answering questions from the teacher.....i've never seen anyone like him before....he's mesmerizing
Whats the first question? I can't quite make out what the guy asks Dylan..
No wonder he got out.
I don't think that girl at 7:07 was impressed with his answer haha. But he still made her smile.
@ralfsu Thanks alot for such a quick answer. Is that early version possible to find somewhere?
it was on youtube not that long ago, not sure if it still is.
@rjpra2 That's what everyone used to call them in the '60s and '70s.
@thomashjorthaab it will all be released in the next coming years.
@Oallright
God doesn't die, by definition.
Is that Allen Ginsberg at 2:03?
where does he get his unique accent?
his gushing is so cute
:D Yes, exactly.
the girl at 7: 10
perfection
what does she ask @ 6:55
This is 6 years late but She said what’s your new book about.
He smokes a lot. OK sign for me.
Didn't work out so well for George Harrison.
Leonard Cohen last for 82 yo. So it's still an OK sign for me.
Agun Wiriadisasra Didn't work out so well for George Harrison.
actually smokers die 7 entire years earlier, it's just that certain drugs can give certain creative inspiration, although dylan may well have been even better off without smoking. beethoven later on in his life became an alchohol addict, but that didn't improve his music, neither did the fact that he started losing his hearing help him out...
He's a thousand times more brilliant than those asking the questions......................he's genius.
@synysterjazmyngates Amphetamine addicts always lick their lips. It's a common habit and he was pretty wired in this period.
So do people who are doing hour long interviews
Nearly all of these questions are quite dumb.
his answers are also quite weak.
the chances are he is doing that because he is high and has ran out of saliva haha.
first thing that came to mind was...billy crystal
he soundes blazed as hell, hese a legend though
hes so beautiful
