When I lived in CA in the Bay area there were Vedic classes given that investigated the finer points of the subject and brought knowledge about Sanata Dharma that was very enlightening. Here in Phoenix AZ even the practicing Hindus want to learn more about the subject of the Vedics and Hindu philosophy but there are few (I have been told) available to teach it. Thank you for speaking the truth brother, i went to UFT in the early 2000s and I studied history. At that time, when I took the only course on Indian history, guess what time period we started learning Indian history from? From Alexander the Great's invasion, then the Maurya, Mughals and British. Tell me if this is a fair and balance view of Indian history? I hope now things have changed for the better.
For those who want to learn more about Hinduism keep in mind these points (i) Many academicians and sanskrit scholars in west don't have correct knowledge about Hinduism because they rely on western interpretation of Hinduism. For example: They use English to sanskrit dictionary written by white people rather then an actual Indian Guru or Rishi. (ii) Learn Hinduism from Hindus who practice it rather then a professor who eats beef burger in the morning and study Hinduism in evening. (iii) Read books by Rajiv malhotra and before buying any books on Hinduism search about the author whether he is a practicing Hindu (guru, yoga and meditation) or not. (iv) Try your best to get to correct interpretation of sanskrit verses rather then relying on wrong translations of western scholars.
I'm a first year PhD student in a leading Business school. The very first thing taught to us is social research, specifically conducting ethnographic research. Any academic who commits the grave mistake of super imposing his/her own culture or de-contextualizing native cultural motifs outside its people (called as 'disembodying natives' to signify the inherent ethnocentrism of such approach) is considered a lost cause, a disgrace to academic discipline. You can check a famous paper written by an American author that in a satirical way demonstrates this ethnocentrism (nacirema aka American in reverse). Any school of thought or University that endorses such obvious ethnocentric reading is clearly unworthy of even being called an academic. Hence, all these so called academic hinduism experts are simply frauds. Plz understand that academic hindu is a disgraceful term, a blot on any academicians potential as it pints to their inclination for bias. No academic study or pursuit can be done without first respecting the human beings involved in making of that very phenomena which academics is trying to study. Wendy is a fraud. So are people endorsing her. They are not academicians.

@@Justrepenting what you said is wrong on so many levels that it is hilarious. Seeing that you have already made up your mind about calling a particular sect of people dogs, I will offer only one correction to your bigoted brain. The word Hindu comes from word Indus If you don't know anything about the Indus Valley Civilization, then look it up.
I agree with you to an extent but the majority of Hindus today do not actually know much and the priests and priestesses (yes we used to have priestesses) are bad at explaining many things since we never had a preaching culture. Ex: I was talking to my buddy the other day and he didn't know what the Vedas were and he thought that we worship a cow as a God. As a Krishna Yajur Veda reciter, I was appalled. Also, my buddy is an atheist now because he found the cow thing to be stupid. When he asked his local priest, the priest was like, "We do not question these things because it is a sin or a 'papam'", lol. This is why, we need an unbiased outsider to actually study the religion with a fresh pair of eyes. We need to use all our resources and not preferentially choose actual Hindus because the majority of Hindus were just born into it and did not have to study anything. They just relied on misinformation passed down from generations. This is why the majority of people think that only men can be baptised (yajñōpavītam) into Hinduism and not women. It was the British who came in and made the Brahminas to show the real Vedic texts that ask both men and women to undergo baptism.

HINDUS - The most important thing is the BEHAVIOUR of the followers. In the West, Hindus are the most peaceful and prosperous community, highly respected. The lowest percentage of any community in prison- USA or UK. And back in India, after a brutal 800 years, the Hindus are undergoing a renaissance with space missions to Mars, a trillion dollar economy, excelent healthcare etc etc. Peace out, namastey
This is the only ancient religion that could not be deracinated by marauding Abrahamic religions of the West and West Asia! So for them, it is yet a work in progress. They use academics, public media, book writing, proselytisation, to name a few, to discredit Hinduism and degrade it before anyone taking any interest in the religion! The irony is that only the Dharmic religions of India have the built in plurality and the theme of acceptance of others unconditionally! Probably the only way to resolve religious conflicts that drive wars on the planet.

But if it's all thumbs up, then naive viewers will think it's true information. Don't just ignore the false propaganda videos, click thumbs down on them. Make a habit of doing that.

Good work buddy.. indeed this has been a problem for anyone who wants to learn anything about hinduism via internet.
Doniger kind of sounds like a nut bar.
My admiration for you keeps going up with each video
@Milin Patel You sounds like a nut bar.
@Milin Patel How does a rationalist explain this 2:46
She is a pornographer, not an academician.
Hinduism can be learnt from practice. Academics present distorted version. Jai Shri Ram.

My friend shawn, i dont know where u live , but if can find a BAPS temple somewhere around or near u then go there and meet any available saint there and he'll tell u what the real hinduism is. Thanks for making such video.

It is horrible, really. Even living in India, there aren’t many people that could tell you about Sanatan Dharma and the significance of our practices. One should read - Ghurye, Kosambi, M N Srinivas, Dipankar Gupta, Ronald Inden, Nicholas Dirks, Susan Bayly, Sumit Guha etc.
Actually Dharmic religions {Hinduism, Buddhism & Jainism} were more about negotiating along the tribal terms then creating & imposing themselves & they did it via the Esoteric method like Tantra or Folk traditions.

if you want to learn hinduism go to vedas, upnishad ,puranas, bhagwat gita and other sacred texts.Even in india many people are misleaded and correct at some point, it is difficult to find hinduism as a religeon because its a way of life ,its more of a practice.there is different aspect of sanatan dharma(hinduism). in sanatan dharma you can follow one god, many god , no god at all , spiritualism, do good deeds , all is branches of hinduism.
