Love how the apprentice kept asking various people about policy after THE BOSS gave an answer she didn't like. 😅😅
She was probably 21 max. I am surprise that people just didn't caught on, well they kind of did.
If one person gives you an answer you can try to blame them for what happened and be like "well they told me this and this so you still owe me".
It most likely won't work but you know they can still try
Have had these people!
"I need to take june off so i can travel the state for my wedding photo shoot"...um, no. You have just started here🙄
She tried to trick them into putting the incorrect information in writing so she could use it to legally dispute not getting paid, too.
0:59
“She’s so big headed even if she doesn’t know the answer she’ll come up with one”
Killed me
I got accused of exactly that, except I was actually sick. I was violently ill for I think it was Wednesday to Friday and I think it was Thursday night my brother happened to jump on Facebook and upload a bunch of photos that he had taken when he and his family had visited for a beach holiday. The holiday had been 3 months prior but that didn't matter to one of my colleagues who then went and showed my boss the pictures. another co-worker sent me a message explaining what happened, and I removed all co-workers immediately from FB before explaining to my manager what actually happened.
Remember to NEVER add coworkers as friends to any of your social media accounts. In fact, restrict them to the highest privacy settings possible so they can’t view any of your posts
Oh noooo
@@nicholasselke5214 Just don''t use Facebook and similar.
@@nicholasselke5214 I don't like this mindset. Why would you want to do that unless you want to fake sick leave and post pictures on fb at the same time? Or unless you have really bad coworkers in which case you should probably think about changing a job
@matejblaha4659 It is so much more than just holidays etc, it can be anything you post or comment on. Unless you are some kind of angel, things you don't even think of can cause issues.
I remember when someone tried to steal the tip jar from my aunt’s restaurant. She swore she didn’t had it, yet something sticking out of her bag strangely looked like it 😂
People always think restaurants are stupid
Seems like all the other employees need a refresher on the rules of sick leave 😂
They probably don't use it unless really needed
They probably don't use it at all. But they should know it for new hire's sakes.
When I started to work, my boss told me to only ask him if I have a question. 😅
One of them said it was "really ridiculous," probably because they didn't use very much of it. So my guess is they didn't need to know it
Why would they? All they would need to know is how many they get when they plan on going on vacation because presumably they've all been working for over a month
“I’m sick”
“Oh you’re sick? Well, I’m sick too…SICK OF YOUR *BULLSHI-“*
😂😂😂😂😂
AHHHHHHHHH JAIDEN ANIMATIONS REFERENCE
And yes, verbal diarrhea is contagious.
My last job I had been working for about 6 weeks when I tested positive for Covid. I wasn't paid for the time I had to take off until I tested negative, even though it was the general manager and his son that had come into the office, knowing they were ill.
Yeah.... I worked security and got Covid from it twice. Keep in mind everyone else was staying home because of the danger and we were "essential workers," but it was almost impossible to get workers comp. I wasn't eligible really because it didn't seem like I had any negative effects at the time.
I ended up quitting that job. A few months later, I started working at a new job, which had me walking for 8 hours. Did that before, no big deal. First weekend I was fine; second weekend, I needed more breaks; third weekend, I couldn't come in the second day, and the fourth weekend I only worked 4 hours each day. I had to quit (though my boss is amazing and managed to keep me on working at home).
It turns out that I had Long Covid from those infections, and when I started exercising a lot, my body started breaking down. The infection had damaged my lungs, which ended up making my asthma much worse; irritated my nerves, which triggered fibromyalgia, so I'm in pain for life; and they still don't know what's wrong with my back, just that my nerve down my legs is being triggered horribly and they are significantly weaker. But of course I hadn't qualified for workers comp!! 😂😂😂 😭😭😭
One time I was sick and missed two days of work. I called my boss from my cell phone (because I had no landline). And he accused me of being in another state! Haha. It was because my cell phone area code was from that state. I had grown up there! But I think he was looking for excuses to dislike me anyway. Me being a millennial, I must be lazy, you know...
That's not how area codes work lol The number doesn't just automatically change when you go somewhere else.
However back in the day you only had to type in the number if you were somewhere else but not if you were there.
I was on vacation with my family members and I was wondering where one of them was and I kept trying to call them and it wasn't working I have to like three attempts I finally typed in the area code which worked.
@bland9876 Sounds like the boss didn't know the person's cell phone number and assumed they were calling from a landline... in a different state. So it makes sense if that's the case.
@@RachFromOH I miss landlines for one reason and that is that sometimes I would like to call whoever is at my parents house but I don't know if my mom or my dad is home and I don't want the phone to ring of the person who's not home.
Anyways that boss sounds pretty delusional cuz none of this is making any sense.
This is my favourite skit so far. Because it shows the personalities of all the bakery worker's really clearly, has a great storyline and it's quite an entertaining and creative concept. The tip jar being stolen AGAIN was funny-ish...
It seems like you might need the tip jar emptied daily or locked to the table at this rate.
Great skit btw. Well, I hope it’s not based on real events but that unfortunately wouldn’t be surprising.
I love the fact that she stole the tip jao, full well knowing that you know where she lives 😁
9:08 For the Americans here who want that in dollars like me, she was paid 108€ total, divide by 8 hours makes 13.5€ an hour, that comes out to ~$14.41 an hour, multiply by 8, she got paid $115.28,
Why complicate it so much 💀
@@Romy--- I was tired and thought that was the fastest way for some reason
Love it! 😂😂
Also please do add more clips from the bakery for us!
Tip jar... Should have been glued in place, put a lock on top, and placed in view of the CCTV camera. And possibly a loud alarm when being forcibly opened or taken away.
😆😆😆😆😆😆
Want you to know these really brighten my day.
The constable should be made aware
In my country, you must give your employer a medical certificate with the doctor's diagnosis and signature to get a sick leave.
Same in mine !
that's problematic when they charge $100+ for a certificate though... if people didnt abuse it we could have it easilier
@@Solarstormflarethat charge is covered by health insurance here.
@@Solarstormflare It's not problematic because it's free.
Sounds like your country treats its citizens like they’re school children, but I guess that’s needed nowadays 😂
it's called "chucking a sickie" and it's the Australian way of life!
2 weeks of paid sick time?! Europe sounds great!
That isn't even that much, tbh. In Germany, for example, you basically have unlimited sick days. You can take six weeks of paid sick leave (although you need a doctor's note after like a week, every employer is different and I believe that the minimum is three days). After the six weeks have passed, and you're still sick, you'll get about 66% of your regular wage, paid for by your insurance, which you get by simply having a job or applying for unemployment benefits, until you're healthy again. As a German the American sick leave system sounds quite nightmarish. Edit; grammar
@@Mikachu000There is no American standard. Every company or employer is different. Where I work, we don't have "sick days," but we have vacation time by the hour, personal time off (PTO) by the minute, and unpaid voluntary time off (VTO) taken in 20 minute intervals. 40 hours of Vacation is given each year all at once. A few hours of PTO is given monthly, which adds up to about 2 weeks per year each. And VTO is earned; we get 1 minute for every 20 minutes worked. It's a 10 hour shift, so we get about 30 minutes each day. If you're wondering why we get so much, it's because our work environment is mentally taxing and VERY stressful.
I live in Italy and the system in Ireland sounds crazy to me, if they really have paid sick days without a medical certificate! In Italy you can have way more than 2 weeks of paid sick time, but you need to have an official certificate from your family doctor and you basically cannot leave your apartment, because there are inspectors that can check if your at home and sick for real from 9:00 to 11:00 in the morning and in the afternoon
@@crestedargo4663 That sounds awful. Do y'all not have something similar to our PTO that can be used at any time, no questions asked?
@@nathanwoods7232 No, I wouldn't say it's awful at all, since as employees we can have paid sick days starting from our first day of work (even though you risk to loose your job, if you take immediately many sick days, say months of sick days, and you are still in your probatory period) and we can take not only paid sick days, but many months, it's just that they have to be certified by a doctor. I find it fair. Furthermore, we have quite a lot of vacation days every year, between 24 and 33 (on average 30), depending on the specific contract and that often means 6 paid vacation weeks a year, since in many cases you only have to take vacation days from Monday to Friday to get a whole free week (because Saturdays and Sundays are already considered free days).
Then we can have some paid single free days if we can justify them: in case of funerals of parents, grandparents, siblings, sons and daughters and nephews; often when we have tests or interviews to get jobs in the public sector (yeah, that's strange, but with many contracts we get a free paid day if we have a test/interview for a new job in the public sector...).
Moreover, in Italy we are way more elastic and generous with workers with health problems: if these are chronic conditions (although not too severe, so that the person can still work), the subjects can get three free days every month until retirement. Same when you have a parent or a child, who's not self-sufficient, you can have the same 3 free days every month, as long as you have to take care of these relatives.
Speaking of holidays, I think you get a couple more days in the US considering federal+state holidays compared to our national holidays in Italy, but it's not a huge difference
Holy hell, paid sick days after only working a month??
Can I come work for you? Your benefits sound awesome!
I feel so sorry for you. Demanding to work a full month before you get paid, and having only 14 sick days for a year is sounding awesome? That's sad.
In my country you get them from the start and have 180 days (more if you're pregnant or with tuberculosis), reseting after 30 days of working continuously. They're paid 80%. And it doesn't include sick leave you can get for your child, or normal leave.
@@wilczajagoda734not if you're in the US. In the US, paid sick leave is based upon whether the employer wants to offer it. And that includes maternity leave.
@@joyebriggs Yeah, thats why all of Europe feels sorry for you. And because you got no free health insurance, and gun violence.
@@wilczajagoda734where are you from?
@@glados4759 Poland
I am sorry, but you have to be living under a rock if you think you qualify for anytime off after working one day.😂😂
Management u get right away
@@Nancy-bm5bf Not all business. It doesn't work that way in retail, as far as I know.
i have real coworkers who do this
In Germany you may not be qualified for paid vacation however if you're sick, you'd still get paid, even after one day into the job.
I remember ages back when I worked at Blockbuster Video and I had an employee call in like 20 minutes before her shift insisting she was majorly sick, but in the background I could hear the music from the Batman ride at Six Flags amusement park. I told her if she brings me back a shirt I'll only tell the store manager that she was just running a little late. It was something around an hour drive from the park to the store and I don't want to know what speed limits she broke to make it in only 15 minutes late, but she did bring me a shirt.
I wish I could work as a baker. I do it at home, but Mom's diabetic, and my appetite is tiny.
You still can work as a baker. There are plenty of recipes and if you're in the states tons of alternatives to sugar. Someone I know makes the best pecan pie using Stevia
Find a Vocational- Technical School in your area, they may have a culinary program that would lead you in that direction. :-)
omg i love these so much plz make more
I had the reverse situation happen to me. I had put in my two weeks at my job and after I finished the first of the two weeks, my grandma passed away. The funeral was on one of my last days of work and I told my work I was using whatever grieving period thing they had to go to her funeral to support my mother and say my goodbyes. They had no issue with that and I came back the next day (or shift, idk).
My manager came up to me and told me that if I wanted to get paid for my unused PTO, that I had to work an additional day to make up for the one I "missed". I told him that I literally started my new job after my last shift and that I couldn't stay another day (and that I wouldn't). They acted like I planned my grandma's passing to get out of work or some shit. Absolutely insane. Glad I left. I'm sure I could have gone to the labor board and filed something to get my PTO pay, but I honestly just wanted to leave that shitty place.
Am I the only one who really really wants to work at a place, where if I get sick after a week, SOMEONE BRINGS ME A FRUIT BASKET?? That sounds lovely. Expecting paid sick leave after only working a week defies logic but the sweetness of a fruit basket.
I wouldn’t tell her.
I'd let her have her vacation, tell everyone to stop worrying about it and just resume their shifts as if she were never hired, and let her waste her money on an entire two-week trip to Spain before coming back and realizing that she hasn't been paid a single cent due to company policy.
Then decide what to do about her when she gets back.
Two great coincidences! Excellent!
This one was really good! Loved it!
9:59 YOU GUYS MAKE BISCOTTIS??? ❤❤
And that's how you get a Permanent Vacation Plan granted by your employer!!!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I didn’t know apprentices even got paid! I thought they were learning a trade in exchange for some labor. This bakery sounds cushy!
Apprentices are paid at a lower rate because they’re learning the trade. The rate is increased each year as their skills improve.
I love the stories, Loren
Two crazy questions, so forgive me if I sound dumb. 1. Are you a real bakery? I hope so because your food sounds amazing. 2. Do you ever ship/deliver to the USA? My husband and I visited Dublin a few years ago and I feel in love with good Irish food and culture. Before I order, I would like to look at a menu even if it’s only available on line.
Sorry if those were stupid questions, but I had to ask. I love your posts. They’re killer good.
I think she owns a real bakery. Someone wrote this to me in the comments.
If this was a TV show, I'd buy the boxset. It's so captivating.
I love to see clips of the actual bakery
I had lots of fun watching this one - so entertaining 😊
Lol the end was hilarious caught red handed
I remember struggling with Queever/Caoimhe when watching an episode of Saving Lives at Sea. Glad to see it's not just me. Seems like it's an uncommon name in Ireland too. Anyways, I love this show!
Gee is that a thing, stealing the tipjar?

As a spaniard I had never considered that going to Malaga would feel that special ò.ó
I go to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands each year, the culture is wonderful, and the pace of living so calming.

I used to work with someone who, if they used to run out of holiday they went off sick. They did away with full sick pay after that.
Oh I love the little clip at the end🙂❤
That's why sick leave and vacation leave need to be different things.
That's why, if you want to travel, you first consult your wallet and then your team and boss, and if you get sick, you call the doctor for the sick days.
That's why in some countries you are not allowed to leave home for leisure during your paid workdays while sick. Doctors may be sent. Obviously it happens in cases where the "mysterious illness" constantly acts up at convenient moments, but this is how one respects citizen's right to recover, while setting boundaries in case of pretend ill.
Alex?!?!? OMG!! Say good bye to said bakery
Eoghan honestly seems like me lol
What does the tip jar have to do with the banking details?
This was fun xD Hope it wasn’t based on real events.
Awesome shot of the bakery too!
Great video! Nice biscotti there at the end!
108€ for one 8 hour shift? :O Where can I apply, please?
you can get even more with a 20€ per an hour, for an 8-hour shift, that's like 160€ per a 8-hour day
It's a normal salary in Ireland, min wage is 12.7 an hour
So it's not really good as it's just a bit more than min wage
I wish I'd get paid 108 euro for 8 hours at my job
Ayyyeee!! Clip from the bakery!
No one home shouldn't be cause for concern though. Someone could be at the doctors or probably for a walk, depending on what they have..
....but having failed to take in the basket with fruit for twelve hours makes someone suspicious, though.
So weird listening to a situation where sick leave isn't defined by law

Aren’t all apprentices not trained in their vocations? That’s why they’re still apprentices, no? On my first day as an apprentice I didn’t know a thing about engineering, but now I’m all qualified.
It depends - I think some may do some of their formal learning (as opposed to on the job learning) beforehand. Others will do that as part of the apprenticeship.
I subscribed! :)
I get like 3 paid sick days a year and I work in corporate. God I hate American corporate culture.
In the US where i live they cant just tell you stay here that your covering a shift. They can ask but thats it if i say no its not my problem and they cant do anything about it. And in Chicago if i do it they gotta pay me extra for changing my shift outta nowhere. Is it different in Ireland?
Well, you cannot be fired for simply refusing a shift in Ireland, terminating employment here is quite a complex process with verbal and written warnings and a whole range of disallowed procedures, though of course in some cases it happens regardless and some people won't/can't report it (though if they do employees often get quote significant payouts for being fired illegally). Generally, you get paid 1.5/2 times your pay for working overtime/outside normal working hours/weekends but there's no legal requirement for it. It all depends on your contract. One law that does exist, though, is that you cannot work more than 48 hours on average over a period of 4 months. Even by choice.

How was the employee able to get time off without a doctors note? Even Ireland demands a doctors note before you’re entitled to their joke of a statutory sick pay. (I just searched it and it is 5 days after 13 months of employment for new employees and it raises to 10 after 3 years of working).
It looks like , the other employee are not informed about the procedures.

Wait, wasn't Eoghan fired after the apple-incident, or is this set before that?
In my country in order to get paid leave you have to work for a year. Yeah. And for paid sick leave you have to bring in a doctor’s report.
In Germany it depends on the contract, though the general standard’s 3-6 months (probationary time). Thence thou canst get up to two weeks of “general sick leave” per year (meaning 3 days in a row), for more (or if it’s more than once per month, for known health issues; e.g. migraines) thou needst a doctor’s note.
Big-headed means "arrogant" in America.
