Why do people make head cannons on cartoons do they not have anything better to do I do not mind head cannon, but I do not like it when they push it down other thoughts.
I am just turned 15 I do not understand much and to be honest I found out about the LGBTQ club when I was 13 and everything I liked as a kid got ruined, I used to really enjoy rainbow because it makes me remember happier times to when I was little but just liking them know makes people gay.
Even in shows and movies they have rainbows behind a character and know they are in the club because of people's head cannons I do not get it. Like being a fun person like Leo makes you gay know the way you walk makes you gay I just do not understand. I though being in the LGBTQ club was about who you like not how you talk like or how you stand walk or sit. I used to cross my legs as a kid, but people called that gay somehow, I do not get it
when I talk sometime, I make gesture with my hand to explain thing better I grew up with it but just doing that makes me gay know. Admiring another person beauty or handsomeness does not make you gay. A handsome man is a handsome man. I acknowledge the handsomeness of other men, because I also like them to admire my own good looks in return. You get what you give, right? So, if someone says something smart, I will say so. If someone looks good, likewise, I will say so. Even if that someone happens to be a man. No, it does not make me homosexual.

People part of the LGBT have observed common behaviors and traits among themselves, some use these as identifiers and assume if someone is LGBT or at least not homophobic. Identifying if we're in a safe space or not is important. Since majority of non-LGBT or homophobic people are not comfortable in gender expression and using flamboyant gestures.
For media, it's usually just a character having these real life traits, being inspired by queer people, or being actual queer representation.
A flamboyant cocky rogue, a flamboyant egoistical villain, a masc villainous, or two buddies that seem way too close. These are characters that appear in media that do not express their sexuality, but are queer coded. (These rogues commonly are pan/bi in fantasy/DND, Scar, Ursula, the buddy cops from Gravity Falls) These characters don't express their sexuality at all or most of the time, but have been inspired by queer people or was confirmed to be queer, but couldn't be portrayed this in the media openly.

Also what's wrong with head canons or fan theories? They only exist in fandom, they're not canon, and I don't see anything wrong with it.
Only thing I can think of is critcising the theory itself, some fan theories have implications of sterotypes that could be harmful or repetitive. Though this has also been used to dismiss any fan theory, for no good reason, just simply not being canon, to dismiss fanmade representation, or to tell other people what's the "correct" way to relate to a character.

I just realized something. If you take the colors of the stickers on Mikey and his plastron color, you get the pansexual colors. I could be reaching, especially since the stickers aren’t exactly the same shade of pink and blue that you would see on the pan flag, but I can still kinda see it in a way. I think Raph also wore a jacket in that episode where they were doing makeover montages and it had the pansexual flag colors. Pretty neat for all those pans out there
Edit: okay so I looked it up and the colors on the pan flag are also described as magenta, yellow and cyan. Mikey’s stickers are described as magenta and cyan respectively. So yeah, there’s that.

I said queer coded for a reason. Yeah he isn't canonically Queer in the 1987 show. But from his clothing choices to what he loves to nerd out to like the Musketeers overall gives off this impression. There are many moments throughout many episodes where Leo gives off serious Queer vibes. The entire episode where Leo thinks he is a Musketeer is a good example of that. This isn't even getting into his interesting bond with Usagi. Leo is definitely Queer coded in so many moments even if he isn't confirmed. 1987 Leo I would say is probably Bi from my headcanon. Also, him liking a girl doesn't mean he isn't any less Bi/Pan/etc. Also, if we are talking about that creepy adult woman Lotus who thought Leo is hot, yeah that isn't a crush! What she did is predatory behavior! She is creepy throughout that episode! Also, Leo never really was interested in her and mostly was fighting her throughout the entire episode. It was mostly her being creepy to a literal teenager. But overall, I say that episode sucked so badly and everytime she appeared she was the worst! I was so glad when she finally left in a later episode. But I said MLM for a reason! I never said Gay! But I definitely don't think Leo is straight either. Just because you can't see it due to being Straight yourself, doesn't mean us Queer people who understand Queercoding in media don't have evidence that Leo is Queer. Especially when you don't have to look for evidence to have basic representation as a Straight person. There is a lot of textual moments that give off Queer coded vibes for Leo within 1987. My head canons for these characters are honestly that Raph is either bisexual or pan sexual. For Leo it’s obviously that he’s gay 🌈🌈. For Mikey it is definitely pansexual. For Donnie it’s biromantic/asexual. For April I feel as if she might be a lesbian. For Cassandra I sort of head canon that she is transgender. Finally for Casey Jones Jr. I head-canon he is bisexual. Those are just my opinions I don’t know about anyone else but remember they are just head canons.

Now hear me out...here for the queer rep, and forgive me for bringing logic to the equation. But regardless of whatever Leo's orientation in their reality, when you grow up knowing you're litteraly the only one of your species...can you have a specific sexuality? I want view points here....
Technically there are other turtles in the series. But yea, I never really saw the same species get together. In the comics Ralph gets together with alopex. He did have a similar question regarding about race but he got over it. Also, there are some queer couples who are completely different race. But yea it never bothered them really.
You can know your sexuality and orientation even without actively seeing anybody! And it’s fiction so I don’t think being matching species really matters haha

Well Splinter is still very much into Big Mama even after learning she’s a giant spider. So it’s safe to say that being one of the only humanoid turtles wouldn’t be a problem for developing a sexuality in the environment he grew up in. The isolation on the other hand may have delayed that kind of personal discovery for a bit though.

TL;DR: I love our gay disaster turtle, but the queer coding leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I might sound like I’m playing devil’s advocate here (and in some ways I am), but I’m not doing so because of homophobia.
I’m sorry, but I really don’t see it in these clips. I definitely took his gestures in the movie as just his narcissistic personality. He is a very theatrical guy, so him behaving like this honestly makes sense from that angle. But I understand where people are coming from, and I’d say the subtext is way stronger in the show (“The Hidden City Job”).
Although, I am scared that his queer coding is just that, and only there for laughs. And it isn’t the best look that the queer coding manifests in these theatrical, almost feminine (from a certain angle) mannerisms; but I suppose the fandom is complicit in that.
I love him a ton and he’s definitely the family’s gay disaster child in my heart, but I won’t claim the representation was necessarily done in good faith.
I’m not gay myself (I’m aroace, so still a part of the community, but not gay in the traditional sense), so I don’t fully know what is offensive or not, but these were just my opinions. Also, really sorry for sounding pretentious. That’s how I speak and don’t know how to express my thoughts better.

It’s an understandable wariness, but I don’t see dramatic theatrical gestures as feminine at all! And this definitely wasn’t intended to poke fun or stereotype things in any way, and I personally don’t think any of this was done in bad faith. I saw these as being queer-coded because I’m personally queer and know a lot of queer people, but I think these can also be read as just dramatic theatrical flair. And don’t worry I don’t think you sounded pretentious at all, it’s an understandable fear with how LGBT people get portrayed in media

I felt more as though the animators were trying to make it very clear that he was using his hand motioning as an “emotional weapon” to motivate his brothers. There was definitely a theatrical aspect taken from his over the top personality too, though. But I’m not sure what you mean by it representing his narcissistic attributes…?

You know, come to think of it, Leo actually acts a little more queer in the movie than he does in the series. My theory is: As April is already in college we can assume there was a time skip of at least 2 years, which means that in the movie Leo must be around 16-17 years old, being more mature he must be feeling more comfortable and open about expressing that side of him than when he was 14, which is something pretty normal. In conclusion, Leo is a young and handsome gay man, he is knowing and he is embracing!
