The NY rap scene have a history of abuse ranging back to the late 70s and the beginnings of hip hop. Afrika Bambaataa used to abuse and traffick 12 yo kids, and it was covered up by a lot of the ”concious” scene for decades. It’s a dark parallell story that needs to be dealt with in order to break this cycle of behaviour. Too much focus on Hollywood and the conspiracy theories, when there’s a conversation to be had about the victims, the stigma of being abused, internalized homophobia, hypermasculinity, norms, lack of support and accessible mental healthcare etc. The ugly truth is that these things exist everywhere, it just get’s amplified when big money is involved. This deserves more attention imho.

A victim can speak in great detail about what happened to them however if there is absolutely NO evidence (documentation) outside of their words an attorney would be a fool to take on that case.
