    Your Brain on Trauma:
    - Suspicious & untrusting
    - Negative & pessimistic
    - Addictive
    - Self sabotaging
    - Scattered & distracted
    - Demotivated & drained of energy
    - Self critical
    - Judgement of yourself & others
    - Emotionally cut off

OMG! I read a paper on how the Holocaust survivors literally had children who were so afraid that it increased high blood pressure and heart disease among its members. Likewise, in the Black community, obesity, high blood pressure and malnutrition are passed on because of outside influences.

Scars, emptiness pain etc, I also am adopted/former foster child. This was deeply moving, and eye opening I also appreciate Oprah’s openness and again vulnerability.💜🙏🏾🕊

My counselor is gone on vacation. I am half way through my PTSD group and my depression won't lift even with meds. I remember a few discussions about the brain, what happens to us when traumatized, and nothing in group never went as close and in depth as this book.
I don't do a lot of things I used to being this depressed and decided if I couldn't feed my mind by reading, I would listen to someone else speak while I laid in bed crying.
I am enjoying this book and am glad I got it. I am not done with it yet but made it through most of it. I am very quiet in group and am angry about all the trauma I pushed down for years coming back in waves. Talking about the different kinds of trauma made me even more angry because the few reasons I thought I was there was only the tip of the iceberg.
You cry for Oprah and can sympathize with her but most of us won't be able to understand her trauma in the same way. But, it doesn't take away from the perspective taking it brings.
I am not at a place to face most of traumas yet and thought I was wasting time learning e what happens to the brain and where memories are stored.
I don't need a book, class or person to tell me my body remembers what my mind stuffs down. Not a single point surprised me. But, I learning more about the brain and neuroscience I am interested in learning more in chunks when I have more energy.
Spent hours listening to PTSD audiobooks on PTSD and almost gave up looking before it. Most traumas I endured alone and never told anyone about. I am afraid of feeling what I am feeling to get through this.
Don't think I would have gotten through weeks without my personal counselor without having Panic Attacks over dealing without having this audiobook to do focus on.
I do it in chunks when I feel too depressed to keep listening. My PTSD and depression are separate with separate cause. But, sometimes when I have flashbacks and have to think about what I don't wan to face, I get even more depressed.
This book won't replace counseling or group support. But, it would definitely be a good supplement for it.

At exodus 32:9 Jehovah calls the Israelites a "stiffnecked people." Moses was delayed and the people made a golden calf.
To me I've intrepided this to mean what you talked about on this show about the brain, from the reptilian to the top (human layer). The people had just gone though an ordeal and were fearfully of pharaoh. Most likely in shock and awe from the Nile turning to blood to the passover. So the moment Moses is delayed the people when back to what they have know their whole life, a golden calf. So they lived in the desert for 40 years like lizards. Why he called them stiffnecked. They were only thinking from their reptilian layer. So it seems when one is thinking from this layer you can revert back to your former self(golden calf worship from Egypt) Without reason or discernment which would tell them a calf is a lesser creature then they are. It's an animal with a lesser brain function. It was just like the frog and gadfly or locus, all ten were gods to the Egyptians. Humans worshipping lower life froms. So later on in the bible Solomon writes at proverbs 28:26 your foolish to trust the heart and Jeremiah writes at 17:9 that the heart is desperate and treacherous. Yet the heart is what God looks for. Verse 10. Maybe this is dew to the fact the heart is connected to the neck and stem. The reptilian layer. So Jeremiah goes on to write at 31:33 i will put my law within them, and in their hearts i will write it.
Being its say law, for me it means the bible and to know what it says by heart. However it implies knowledge, learning to be the way to a responsible heart. one thing you should learn and understand is we are all the same. We may look differently and act differently, our brains are all the same. Agap'e is a powerful word to know. 1 Corinthians 13:4 says It's patient. When Moses delayed they weren't very patient. In fact when you read all of Corinthians 4-8 on agap'e love the Israelites had nun. The reptilian layer can not ever learn agap'e love. Only the human layer can. Plus it applies to yourself first before you can extend it to others.
    Peace and agap'e.

What is Oprah's trauma doing in her ability to be impartial in her interviews. They see skewed and sympathetic to the "injured" party. We still need to hear both sides because in not doing so can traumatize the other party who may in fact be the victim. That made me think that Oprah was using and reliving her own sad story through others. Seeing that reminds me of my own trauma because I was abused by a parent narcissist who claimed that I was abusive and people believed this and this still affects me today. So please get her the help she needs to separate her traumas and to help her stick to her professional duty to get both sides of the story because false promotion of the personality of someone is traumatizing for people. Just like what happened to me.
