Curious about taking the stucco down on top of the roof. No weep screed or removable reglet flashing detail so the roofers can counterflash up the wall? Always impressed with your attention to detail so not being negative just wondering.
Kirk, if you're looking for an alternative to sand/cement stucco, why not try lime/earth mortar? You simply get loam (clay + sand + silt), add fine, sharp sand if you got too much clay and then add 10% quicklime. You can add hay or synthetic fibre for some extra tensile strength. Earth mortar gets very hard by itself and adding 10% lime makes it even a little stronger and more water resistant and very capillary active (means that it keeps your walls dry by drying them out much faster). The main reason why I would recommend this to you is simply the cost. You can use this stuff to get some very thick scratch and brown coats. It spreads like butter, it's cheap and it floats like a dream if you get the amount of sand just right. To finish it off you can use a thin layer of much purer lime plaster with very fine or coarser sand depending on the finish you want. This system is not water proof but there is a reason for that: even though a very pure lime top coat is very water repellent, the magic quality and the reason why it has been used throughout all of history for millennia is because it keeps your walls dry. It don't matter how much you try to waterproof your walls, it doesn't work: water always find a way to get in the wall. And what happens when you trap the water inside the wall with a plaster that is waterproof? Bingo: delamination and cracking. This does not happen with pure lime plasters and it's the reason why people used it in the past.

Howdy Andy, John beat me to it, Thank you, brother John, you must be a plasterer.🍺

Jared Wheeler, then we're even, cause, man, I sho-nuff like your style.🍻
Hello Kirk my name is george I AM 10years old kid and I have a question is the mud that you are is it ment for bricks
Good evening, Tony Sergakis. That, my friend, is an excellent question for one so young.
You are one smart dude.
The mud I'm spreading is designed for either interior, or exterior plastering yet has hundreds of uses.
It was engineered or invented in Turkey, where they have been plastering for thousands of years.
Can I go over a brick or block wall with this material? Absolutely.
Take care, my young friend, and again, brilliant question.🧞
What application of styrofoam trowel
Is it use for finishing?
Hello Acrido,
th-cam.com/video/X_SRyTIVMbU/w-d-xo.html/ my choice of plastering/stucco trowel.
I went to the Kirk school of plaster and power washed the basement and brown/white coated the walls and it looks just like finished drywall. But good grief I didn't wear gloves and that finish coat is like acid.
Morning Johnnathan, welcome to my world, now you know why I wear leather boots, gloves, and a long sleeve shirt.
However, this plaster won't burn your skin or disintegrate your clothes, things that make you go, Hmmm 🍻
Where is the side flashing for the windows?
Come on brother, help me help you out, read the description to see the lathing of these windows.🍾
can you recommend someone as good as yourself in north los angeles area for projects? most here are quacks, if you can find one at all. if i could afford it, i would hire you to come down.
Hello Lynn, how nice of you to say soo, however, you are 8 hours from my family.
I would recommend you google “Plastering contractors” in your area. This may help you decide.
This search may also bring up "yelp" Theirs is a paid subscription, so their reviews may be biased than Google; however, you can scroll and read through the Yelp reviews.
With the help of both reviews apps, hopefully, you find the best fit for your needs.
If you're still not certain, ask to view their completed jobs and or repairs and, if possible, speak directly
with their past clients.
Best wishes,
Kirk Giordano Plastering Inc.
