Good review for people who understand the technical specifications... Always good to understand the tech inside the device which he has explained properly... As far as demo is concerned of sound quality, not sure how can that be displayed on TH-cam which most of the people with negative comments were expecting
I just bought this one. (3.1). Very rock solid. Sound quality is great. Glad I went this route. I just plugged the ARC cable to the Vizio TV ARC connection and it works fine with it. Fire TV HDMI is plugged into my TV and works fine with it as well.
Its amazing. I have 2.1 Soundbar and its enough for my house and I get 3d audio without even having the "surround sound" button off. If you have a big room then go 3.1 but most will only need the 2.1.
Couple questions. What is the range of the volume. Like, does it have a large range that gradually goes up as you go up in volume? or do you hit the volume up twice then it's loud all of a sudden. Also, you mentioned that it has different sound effects, can you manually adjust the tremble and bass?
The range is really good. I know what you mean about some units that go from too quiet to too loud with no in between but this has a subtle increase. I’ve only taken the volume up to 30 (which is deafening) but it would go higher. As for the sound effects those are preset EQ’s but the unit does offer individual control of the bass. Hope that helps. It’s a great soundbar and always blows people away when I show it off.
Nice review!! Have a couple of question.. 1) Is the bass and sound quality equal to an avr hometheater with active woofer? 2) i already have sony e4100 bluray hometheater. Is it possible to couple these two? Because i do not want to pay for the two extra wireless speaker for surround effects as i already have one(sony e4100). As you said my sony also has dull bass. Seems like sony is looting the people. I too purchased sony by just thinking like you. Do not know how i skipped this jbl product especially this jbl beauty. So i am looking for a powerful audio device at similar price.. hope you reply soon..
The bass is probably the strongest feature of the JBL. I can’t imagine anyone thinking additional subs would be needed. I don’t see anyway to pair it with your existing system. The overall sound quality is very good but the surround sound is simulated so it wouldn’t compare to a true 5/7 speaker surround system. For me it’s more than adequate though. Hope this helps and glad you liked the review! Let me know if you have other questions.
Technic Nation thanks for the quick reply... One more question.. as a sony user you know that the sony products can't pronounce some sounds in the music files. In some review i read that jbl sound bars can pronounce the sound without missing a single instrument like avr systems. Is that correct? Can it pronounce all sounds ? (Please do a sound test video if possible.) By the way i am pretty much impressed with your quick replies and especially your reviews. So right now i am subscribing. Good work and wish you all the best:-)
Technic Nation pronounce in the sense it could able to play that particular sound. (Like Different sounds together will form music) Some customer of this product suggested (in his review) to listen to a music/song (in which different instruments were used). So what he said is jbl could play all those sounds where as standard hometheater like sony, lg, Philips will miss/skip few sounds. To tell you in a nut shell people call it as hidden sounds. Hope you got it now..
Thanks for the honest review. Watched this video yesterday and couldn't help but purchase it on my way home. The sound is more than I hoped for, unfortunately the sub is too large for my wife's liking. I'll be returning it this week. 😭
Hi I just bought a jbl 3.1, but I dont get any sound from my center channel from bluetooth/ usb or TV , I did turn on surround sound on remote but still no luck , any help will be appreciated
Can you please, suggest proper placement of sub for best bass. because I will like to place my sub, just like you have shown here. I too am, very impressed with Jbl 3.1 But still, proper placement of the system, makes a lot of difference, in terms of bass quality.
@@isaacmendez3902 still same. I'm trying to live with it but it's annoying. Something must be wrong somewhere with the Bluetooth signal transmission. I Should have bought an old fashion wired subwoofer.
As a musician, JBLs have always produced speakers that are clean and transparent to my ears. Based on your review, it sounds like they carried that quality into their home electronics. That is what convinced me to select this model over the Samsungs, Sonys, or other home electronics company. My unit will arrive in a couple of days. I am looking forward to it! I currently have a Sony soundbar which is terrible. Then, again it is at the entry price point. For the same price, Vizio makes a far better product. Sony has been disappointing to my ears over the years. I have seen them slip in quality. If the company cannot make a decent base line model, I don't have much respect to upgrade to their higher end models when the time comes.
I have a question can you help me . I bought the speaker and there seems to be no sound coming from the center Channel what can I do? By the way nice review.
Unfortunately I don’t know of much that you can do. In theory you could open the case up to examine things, such as whether there’s an issue with the speaker connection, but I think the better option would be to contact JBL directly to see if the bar can be repaired or replaced under warranty.
I love heavy bass, plz tell me her Bass quality sir, my first preference is heavy thundering bass, so plz suggest me sir, is this a better option...... Waiting for reply sir 🙋🙋🙋
Great review. I'm going to save and get myself one. I currently have a Sony HT-M22 with a 10inch sub. This will probably be much better? I feel that the bass on the Sony is boomy and not powerful enough On normal settings. It also doesn't sound great or loud enough when watching movies. I love great bass.
Srikanth Katta I’m not that familiar with the Philips but given it’s small size (especially the sub) I would be surprised if it could match the JBL. I highly doubt you would be unhappy with the Bar 3.1 if you go that route.
I don’t have any experience with the Sony but they are very different systems. I would expect the Sony to have the edge given that it’s a multi speaker system.
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with that. The pairing has always worked well for me. I did find these instructions on the JBL site. Hope they help. If no audio from the wireless subwoofer can be heard, manually pair the subwoofer: 1. Turn on the soundbar and the subwoofer. If the connection is lost, the LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly. 2. Press the CONNECT button on the subwoofer to enter pairing mode. The LED indicator on the subwoofer blinks quickly. 3. Press and hold DIM DISPLAY button on remote control for 5 seconds, followed by short press on BASS+, and BASSbutton in sequence. Panel display will show “PAIRING” If the pairing succeeds, the LED indicator on the subwoofer lights up and the soundbar display will show “DONE”. If the pairing fails, the indicator on the subwoofer blinks slowly. 4. If the pairing fails, repeat the steps above
Miroslav Borisov I’ve never heard the SB450 but it looks like the Bar 3.1 is a newer product even though they seem to have very similar features. I can say I have not been disappointed by the Bar 3.1. It really does sound good, especially turned up, with way more bass than I was expecting.
@@RaptorRZR 5.1 the wireless speakers really make the difference. But if you would want to upgrade from SB450 to 5.1 it's kinda the only thing. My bar is at the repair shop already so seems to have some start-up problems too.
Cool review👍Should I go for this or samsung q60t?
Have you heard deeper bass in any other system like logitech, polk, denon? I am basshead please recommend if this is best for me.

Centre speaker working for you?
I think people are too critical of this review. I think well done and you have helped me decide as to what I want to get.
Thanks! I appreciate that but unfortunately it comes with the territory.
What do you know about the plug in the back of the sub? It says sw upgrade . I'm wondering if you can patch another sub?
Used to connect subwoofer to SoundBar for purposes of upgrading subwoofer firmware...
I just bought this based on this review. Love it!

It does have a very broad range so I would say that it does but I have not run any detailed tests to compare this feature against other products.
How it stand compared to DENON Heos soundbar? I am planning to buy such as system, but not sure which is better.
Can I connect the soundbar to the laptop using the hdmi cable or does it have an aux i don't want to use bluetooth
Yep it has an auxillary connection available on the back of the soundbar

Just keep it. Makes better sound than your wife :))
How does the bass sound
That reason is not acceptable. Bigger is better for subs. Thats the speciality of this soundbar in fact!
Almost perfect review. Liked it very much. Quite informative and helpful.
Hi I just bought a jbl 3.1, but I dont get any sound from my center channel from bluetooth/ usb or TV , I did turn on surround sound on remote but still no luck , any help will be appreciated
Same issue. Scouring the web, I only see jbl's website and generic "contact customer service". Will probably return.
Center channel only works with videos/channels with DOLBY . if it says PCM it will only use 2.1
The surround turns on the center speakers

Bass is non-directional sound so you can place the sub anywhere. Hope that helps.
If I connect my TV and soundbar with a 3.5 mm aux cable will all 3 speakers work? Or only LR will work?
Yes.
I just bought one yesterday and the subwoofer makes a thumping sound every time I change the channels or inputs. What might be the problem?
