Andre I agree with you 100%, be transparent with your prices to customers is always good for trust and returning customers. This will be a great series for your channel, "Bohol-with-The-Crowns"
wow, that place looks nice indeed ❤ I like it better when it is not too crowded, although more customers are definitely what such nice places deserve to remain active, I think 😊 Thank you for sharing ! 🙏
Ah, I was there in January, and I forgot the name. :D Moadto Strip Mall. I even remember the toilet it was so a pleasant suprise to have a toilet in european cleanliness level there. Thanks now I can bookmark it again. Because I dont like the main tourist area on Panglao And the reason that there are so few people is because.. well to be honest, I still try to figure it out still. 😅😅 In other countries in SE Asia you always know where to go or you will get directed to it somehow.. ..but in the Philippines two people can go to the same place - like Panglao for instance, and one experience this place maybe, find good restaurants and so on and the others do not. I experienced so often that beautiful places just pop out of nothing in places where you never would think of. And soon they close again because nobody knows of them. They ruin it for themselves. It has a lot to do with city planning of course. It is just chaotic, almost nothing makes sense at the place where it is. Of course there are good examples to like Iloilo, but they are few.
Andre i agree with you ,, I can careless for that restaurant and as a foreign national it would discourage me comming to such place, mThat eestauramt is just hurting there own business with the tourist. Thanks for sharing
50 pesos is one American dollar. I normally tip 200 pesos for one drink at clubs in the States. In the Philippines losing all your money or most of it or throwing or pissing it away makes you a super big Fool to everyone!!!!!!! So being fugal like these folks is very respectable. It's just the way it is. You make yourself a fool throwing away your money on tips and stuff. Everyone will blindside you from strangers to Father in laws until you don't have any money at all. It truly isn't something you can avoid. You throw money around with a wife, she will look like a whore. True.
Actually service fee of 10% (!) is pretty comon. Whenever I am charged service fee, there is no more tip. I absolutely agree that it would be nice if they openly communicate this before you order.
Nice beach!service charge sound like cheating customer.Especially it's a milkshake you order and grab by the counter.you are not sitting in a restaurant. We have the same problem here in U.S.A the service charge is 20% .We avoid eating out .thanks for this video
Not sure what part are you in the country but things have change as i often go restaurant to eat. They make that option when you check out. meaning you can do custom tip of you have choices on there default percentages.
@@leodoletina461 in every official receipt in a resrtaurants or huge hotels, service charge is already included to the amount you pay, which the employees enjoyed every month aside from their daily wages.
I'm so jealous of you guys..such a a beautiful place..as being from Manila u really need enough budget to go such places like Panglao😔 and u guys live 20 mins away ugh I'm so jealous 😭
I am with Andre. I wont get rob for tips and undisclosed fees regardless if its a tourist spot or not. We are on the 21st century and guys 2024 outlook in the world economy is not looking very good. High inflation, lost of jobs and these restaurants will be hurting. These is were competition comes in. People will rather buy good food somewhere else. The beach is open to the public!!! These restaurant don't own that waterline easement of the place.
Whenever we eat in fine restaurant we add additional tip bc some doesnt charge if this restaurant charge me then its fine for me but if i dont like to charge then i will eat at mcdonalds or jolibee
Don’t go to the united states. They put a lot of service fees in hotels and charge city and parish taxes. And we usually give 20-25% tip of the total bill because the waitress depends on tips. My dad was generous. He would give nearly 100% tip when he would eat out. Unfortunately he passed away Dec 1 unexpectedly from Covid pneumonia.
Doljo beach looks great! Any ideas about where to stay for 2-3 weeks. Budget- $25 per night? I've looked online. It's just that some do not Advertise. Thank you!!!!
I think Andre knew that but without disclosing it is not right!! In the US that has been taken out and at checkout they give you the option ...5%, 10% 20% or CUSTOM TIP. That is how it should be. Food cost is already high and surprising a customer at the end is also not right. That restaurant dont own the beach front!!! I am sure they know it that the general public owns it. I am sure they know about EASMENT Rights.
@@leodoletina461 resaurants owners dont own the building, they are renting a space.the owner of the builiding,Moadto Strip MAll and Modala Hotel is only one.
I can guarantee no one except the company will get the tips/service fees, it’s become common in the west, even a surcharge on weekends ….I would bet a foreigner is involved in any business doing that in the Phil’s.
You will find many places in the world are just putting service charge automatically on a bill. I was just in Thailand and 10% was added on most bills. So two things, if there is a service charge, don’t leave a tip. Secondly, you are perfectly Withings your rights to ask them to take it off your bill. I have done this many times, in America the tipping policy is more than 20% now…. Insane ..
Kinda how I feel, but when you do tip beyond the service charge, back out the service charge (10%) and vat tax (12%) as the basis for your tip. I view the addition of a service charge as hurting the service staff, however, so many visitors come to these places from “non-tipping “ cultures, I suppose this protects them to a point in total.
@@nomadgeofencer exactly and well put. Sadly the Americans have accepted that the customer has to pay half of the staff’s wages. This means, that the restaurant/bar staff are always on minimum wage. The customer now has to pay up to 25% of the staffs wages. It’s sad that the American public accept this. Go into a restaurant and see the menu prices. That is the price of food/drink…now add in GST and service charge and it is increasing the price by another 1/3… Many countries don’t have a tipping culture so don’t often leave tips. The restaurants get round this by just including a service charge. Also, it’s a good idea to ask the wait staff if they actually get to keep the tips. If not, take off the service charge. I remember I was in America, staying in our crew hotel (I’m aircrew) A man across the bar ordered a beer. I ordered the same beer and yet mine was more expensive. I asked why, the bartender said “your crews don’t tip enough, so we automatically add service charge!”….sad but true and that was in the early 90’s!
Thank you for reading my comment. The beach is beautiful but i can careless with the restaurant. I think they need to read the comments on these vlog because as a foreign national i would speak out to the rest of the American who tends to visit these place and to stay away from such restaurant. If i spend money on food it will be for that and not unexpected additional fees and tips. These type of restaurant is what we call " Highway Robbery". They are not transparent and reason for that is because they want to get you first before you can do a pushback. Place like these will not survived very long in that area...Especially in the Philippines. They need to wakeup and smell the coffee before its too late. Foreigners are a lot smarter than they think. Bet you those food vendors will be making more business of there food/services than that place.

Great vlog , is there accommodation close by ?
there is a hotel beside that moadto strip mall, the modala beach resort.
wow stunning and the beach too
It's is a tourist destination in the Philippines for foreign tourists and that's why they charge those prices

Consider it as tip u know u have the money to buy expensive drinks then for just a little a mount u help the local for the 5% charge
its Modala beach resort? google maps show only under construction...
modala already there and the under construction is right beside Modala, it is called Moayon Hotel

I’m just wandering why you preferred to stay in the Phil. than Germany ?
Because phil is the better place for social media creators and people who wants to start own business. 😊
Really good answer! Your American friend with German background.
Compared to other south east Asian countries, tourism in the Philippines is not as developed. If it was, it would provide more employment.
Andre the service charge is the tips, im accostume with that, in Europe you pay taxes and if you want to give tips is seperate.

That service fee is the tips for waiters so they make sure they get a tip on the bill.
Hopefully they really get it 🥹
