I know when discussing beliefs, we respond with emotion. Be open minded and respond critically, but most importantly, be kind! The mark of true intelligence is to still be able to understand someone even when you don’t agree with them ✨💖✨

Just leave religion out. Christianity as well. They all involve the same things named differently. Go with God. We were not put here to be the same Christians chant spells and call it prayer. I know this as one then call everyone outside of them witches and warlocks. The prophet is your seer and who were the greeks but if not clear people that traveled up and down the nole trading and stealing parts of other cultures as did we? I love your videos. You do them with class. Just try not to go too far into religion.

I'm a proud Nigerian(Yoruba) and despite my religion being Christian, I still have relatives in the rural village of my tribe who stick to our oriṣà ancestral worship or the new generation returnees to the religion. We have 3 main recognised religions in Nigerian. Some people openly practice one of the 2 main religions of Christian & Islam but secretly ingrain themselves with our ancestral Òrișà religion. Even our dance of 'Bàtá' is associated with our ancestral religion. Orisa religion is entwined with our culture & tradition, has many deities with links to the Higher God ( Edumare) but yes, you do have the deities of Anger & Wrath. Ogun is the deity of Anger & wrath in the ancestra religion. Now the religion went across the ocean with slavery. With this, they have mixed it up and disguised it from the slave masters. All religions have a darkside. You can find curses in the Bible from OT to NT. Islam too has its darkside. So when pple demonise our Ancestral religion being voodooic, I disagree. It's not demonic but, is more earthy and lies on 'karma or peace'. It's a tolerant religion hence why Islam & Christianity were able to invade with brainwashing or bloodshed to convert. These other religions demoniced our ancestral religion and called it 'Paganism' or 'infidels'. I reiterate that the Orisa ancestral religion is not based on magic, evil or darkness. Beyonce is basically using the religion for marketing purposes. The Orisa people live it, it's there way of life.

I appreciate your firsthand perspective on the traditional African religion. I think Christians and Christianity need to be confronted with the reality of other religions and beliefs, that it is usually people also working with God and spiritual values, only from different cultural imagery and languages.
Unfortunately, many Western American Christians, specifically the narrow-minded Christian, will look at all other spiritual beliefs as deception. I've seen this attitude time and time again. There’s no place for a plurality of belief in that way of seeing, in that kind of biblical interpretation.
An open-minded person of faith will understand the world with an appreciation of religions and faiths, as well as people's personal perspectives. An open-minded Christian may understand that God inhabits all of us and that God's power can and at times, Will, work through people's beliefs within their personal lives. God doesn’t judge in the way humans do, because it’s inside and around everything, God understands everything, and is part of all that’s going on. Thanks again for explaining and sharing something of the Nigerian tradition.

It is a deception, there's only one God. The Christian God is the only one God. The others are demons that the Almighty created. All nations were given to demonic powers besides Israel. God used Israel to bring other nations to him.

That's why I pray the blood of Jesus and ask for wisdom, guidance and protection in all things🙏🏾. I learned about Celia and Santeria through the Netflix miniseries and the movie Black Orpheus (1959) with the stunningly beautiful Marpessa Dawn. I've heard rumors over the years that Bey was into some things, I'm not a fan of her nor her music. I don't keep up with her. I'm not surprised. As a Cuban immigrant who grew up not far from Fort Lee, NJ, Celia Cruz, receiving the National Endowment for the Arts Award in 1994 given to her by President Clinton was a very proud for all Cubans. She was always a beacon of Cuban culture in exile representing the highest cultural achievements. She means so much to us Cubans and not one of us are indifferent to her achievements. Having said that there’s another Cuban singer that I would urge you to do a breakdown of called La Lupe. Lesser known than CC but nonetheless a powerhouse who unfortunately had a very tumultuous life with a tragic ending. In any case, I thank you so much for honoring CC in one of your videos. You put a smile on my despite watery eyes. Since she was so colorful, I’ll post multi-colored hearts. 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🩶🤍🤎

I love Celia Cruz and her contributions to music. There was a Netflix series based (Tele Novella) based on Celia's life. There were a couple of Yoruba rituals that were referenced in the series. In regards to Beyonce, I haven't heard of her refer to herself as a reincarnation or rebirth of Oshun. If anything, she has been known to refer to herself as a daughter of Oshun. It was also mentioned that Ezili Dantor has similarities to Oshun, but in Haitian Vodun, it is actually Ezili Freda who has similar characteristics to Oshun, not Dantor. Also there is a misconception that people in ATR (African Tradition Religions) worship deities, however in practices such as Vodou they still believe and worship God. He is referred to as Bondye. Vodou is a monotheistic religion. In different practices, Lwas, Saints, and Angels are messengers of God and they also work on his behalf. In IFA, practitioners also believe in a supreme being.

Thank you for highlighting these artists and the importance of their spiritual connection. I think that anyone who is religious will be proud about their heritage. You said you know all about it but no one more even the elders know ALL about it. If there is evil there is good. There is not a way to use good to do evil or to do evil to do good. There is witchcraft, used to do evil and spiritual rituals and materials to manipulate and influence evil and then there is ritual and divination to counter and protect. In Israel the Jewish people there are killing thousands of people, that violence is as evil as someone using witchcraft to send spirit powerful enough to kill a weak in spirit person. And someone could feed a million impoverished people and another spiritually heal spiritually abused and weak people, using a non-Christian or Islam doesn’t make it evil. I don’t see Beyonce being sneaky, she’s very clear about revering her spiritual practice and lifestyle. A person becoming versed in their destiny and themselves would do that. It doesn’t make it evil. I’ve experienced and currently experiencing spiritual attack from people within my same spiritual practice Isese or in their case Lukumi/Santeria but I know that there are priests who would not do harm for them and there are others who would because it pays. I know enough about my relationships with my ancestors, Egunguns,Orishas, Egbe, Ori the aspects of God Oludumare to know that this is my path to ensure that I’m in alignment with the spiritual path that my soul needs.
Also the old religions like Christianity in Africa is nothing like what it is now and is closer to African Traditions like Isese (Ifa) and Voudoun. It’s all through the Old Testament And till this day Hoodoo priests use those same rituals from the priests in the Bible casting the lot and pouring libation on alters. It is the exact same practice. I believe that Europeans took those spells and rituals to turn the religion into what it is and that we’ve been living in the dark ages during White Supremacy. The old ways have never remained old and is exactly why old and new souls are being drawn to it even though it isn’t exactly as organized, mostly because of the double edged sword of the internet, driven by good, evil and people in between.
It would be fair to say your experience and also admit that you’ve encountered people with his character, seen by their actions and words not by their religion or spiritual practice. As a Isese practitioner I have the sense to now that there are evil people who claim to practice Isese and people who are trying to spiritually mature as well as good people who represent Isese.
The goal is that good people are who prevail and help those trying to grow by being the example…no matter the religion/spirituality.

We love to pull that one fact about Christianity being practiced in Ethiopia in the middle age to prove that it was there before colonisation. But the reality is that most black people in continental America are west African descendants. And therefore those religions were imposed on them. There’s no need to sugar coat it we lost our way. I was born here in the United States, however my Mother side is from Cuba by way of California and my Father is from Trinidad tobago by way of Danville Va. I have a little french as well. I have studied a lot on my own I have totally agree that some entertainers and people "practice " these rituals in your face but most people do not know about it. I am a Christian and have never practiced this but i have seen it in my family being practiced by my abuela, (granmom). We have to be mindful that knowledge and information is key to understanding and wisdom. When we have this understanding it allows us to decisively make the right decisions. We have been blessed with the power of Will. We are the only creation that has this. Thank you @KarineAlourde for walking in facts not in emotion!

🇨🇺 thank you so much for covering La Reina Del salsa. I understand your intention when talking about how Christian God gives people "free will" but it comes off as a bit back handed
In the same way that I would not ask Santeros to explain what's "really" happening with Seventh-day Adventists, id expect Seventh Day Adventist to be humble enough to refrain from doing the same to African spirituality. I know you guys don't realize this but it comes off as extremely arrogant, to project what you believe to be the truth on to someone else's religion. This is not a dig. Its simply my way of saying you're better than that.

All of the saints were disguising the African deity. Ex so instead of Oshun catholics covered it up with the statue Mary... which changed the worship from ancestors to saints because slaves weren't allowed to worship their Gods

What a beautiful, informative video. As a white guy, I understand and agree with everything you say. People want to claim ownership of everything and God forbid that "white" religion have its origin in "black" history. ❤

You are right! If you are Christian you should be very careful what you listen to and follow …. Everything that is not according to the narrow path described by Jesus is demon worship… doesn’t matter how good they wrap it in. That goddess is obviously bad worship but many are sneaky too: disguising in good but aren’t :Matthew 7:21-23. But only if you want to be a true follower of Christ! If you choose something else: that is your choice your life … just talking about true Christians 😊 it doesn’t matter about white religion. Jehovah is the true God and the Bible is one amazing book to study: changed my life (background; father Muslim; mom first catholic : became a jw).

OShun And erzulie FREDA are more closely equated in terms of their properties and energies, however; are not the same. The energy of erzulie Dantor is the complete opposite.
Lwa and orishas are not the same, although they may share similar attributes but are not the same.

We need more Unambiguous Afro-Latina representation for us today!! So, many ppl don't research the roots of their own religion and are ok with them having pagan roots, stealing from Egyptian etc.. It's crazy sad BUT as an Afro-Cuban I can confirm what Karine is saying, there is a light and dark so when spiritual
