    I think “ A Christmas Carol”
Could be seen as an example of professional development reading. Ebenezer Scrooge is a good example of leveling up to a positive attitude that results in providing staff (Bob Cratchett) with a more rewarding work/life balance.😉
Lots of years ago I read “The Spy Who Came in From the Cold”. I didn’t realize it was part of a series. Also, I knew little about Cold War politics. Maybe I should try it again and read LeCarre sequentially.
Loved the movie adaptation of “Babette’s Feast”. The short story sounds like a good read for this time of year. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm about it.
Luckily, we had no snow on Thanksgiving Day but it did rain

Happy Thanksgiving weekend your way Kelly! Hope it was a fine day. Indeed, you could read those books for work early, take some good notes for reference and enjoy the cozy holiday reads from then on. 🙂Very nice material you're into otherwise. I found a bunch of Robert Anton Wilson stuff at this one bookstore that has a closing sale, so that'll be my new years delvings....perhaps.. 🙂 Happy reads and all else. -Carm & furz

I want to read Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. I saw part of the 2011 film at a friend's house a few years ago and liked what I saw. This year I'm going to listen to A Christmas Carol narrated by Hugh Grant. My tree went up a few days ago because I enjoy the lights but I'm in no rush to decorate it. I stay home with the dog on Black Friday. Have a good weekend!

Hello! Hugh Grant narrates A Christmas Carol??? That sounds fantastic. You should trying Tinker, Tailor ... the 2011 film is AMAZING!!! There's also a version with Alec Guinness, which is really well done too and much longer. But I'm a sucker for Gary Oldman! Have a wonderful weekend! Thanks so much for commenting!

I just had Thanksgiving dinner with my parents. Not being from a huge family or close with people outside of my immediate family, I've never been at a Thanksgiving dinner with even ten people or had to sit at a separate table for kids. I've got a big virtual collection of vintage Thanksgiving images (holiday cards, recipes from magazines, pin-ups). I mostly use them to illustrate blog posts about Thanksgiving, but I'd love to try some of those recipes sometime, like a coconut pumpkin chiffon pie and cranberry-apple pie.

Between the exercises, ice, heat and ultrasound (?cold laser?) and other massages she performed I was finally relieved of the pain and it has not come back Thankfully. Hi Kelly, Happy post-Thanksgiving!! And thanks for sharing with us your book reading updates (including "Babette's" and John Le Carre). I had to share this with you after watching your video: sometime about 10-15 years ago, I went to a two-day continuing education (CE) seminar in Boston (I'm a clinical psychologist and you need CE credits for licensure)...being honest, it was a pretty tedious and unimpressive affair overall--except for 2, maybe 3, presenters...one of whom was Shawn Achor. He was very charismatic and his was certainly one of the more memorable and interesting talks (maybe a bit heavy on the comedy after a while, but that's a minor criticism and YMMV), about mindset and making desired behavioral changes...the examples from his own life he used were reducing watching t.v. at night and going to the gym more. I haven't read his book(s), I'd be interested to hear if you thought it worthwhile (of course, worthwhile or not, I can't say I'd be enthused to have to read 200 pages of 'assigned reading' for work, just on principle 😄...) Take care! Joe

I can only reiterate that a) this is your channel and you should run it as you wish, and b) it was crystal clear, at least to me, from reading the comments of your video addressing this, that an overwhelming majority of respondents were in support of your decision...which is an eminently reasonable one (see "Friends, relatives, sanity, and health: The costs of politics" by Smith, Hibbing & Hibbing, 2019--this is probably already a growing area of research in the mental health field).
