whelp, my bad everyone. guess I was a little too excited to show where this gun can be at its most effective. apologies to anyone who was wanting to go in blind to the raid. when I write these reviews I am a bit too used to just showing where something is useful. it just so happened this time was 24 hours after the raid had launched. had this review gone out before the raid like I had planned, we would not have known about how good the gun could be and we would of been left with a review that isn't truly representative of the actual weapon. in the long term, the spoilers dont matter. but in the short term, I definitely fucked up by showing you all the boss.

While I appreciate the pinned comment, come on, that's not really good enough. What percentage of your viewers are going to read through comments before the video plays? I sure as hell didn't, only coming here as soon as i saw the background of the raid and paused the video (my group started last night, so I recognized the environment).
You really should edit the video or at the VERY least put up an annotation announcing raid spoilers. I've been a big fan of yours since early in your PlanetDestiny career, and while I absolutely believe you when you say it was a mistake, this is big and needs to be remedied. Blind raids are incredible experiences, and we get precious few chances as a community.

I'm glad to hear that! The clan I'm with actually likes to go in blind BUT, if we get spoiler or if someone completes it before us we will watch a video...anyways, I do find most of the youtubers raid guides to be quite helpful.

Tyler Wagner that's exactly what happened to my group on raid day...we fumbled around until youtube put out a guide on the raid.
Nathan Clark Personally I have no time to bullshit around if I were to go in the raid blindly, so I would prefer to have it spoiled for me. Anything fluff related is nice, but it's not needed when you're doing the raid.
Just as an fyi, for that doesn't know, cold heart has 101 rounds in it's magazine and fires at 10 rounds a second, so when Patrick says look for situations where you can fire off two or more magazines for maximum damage out put, you'll need roughly 20 seconds to do so :)

An interesting thing about this gun is obviously the high rate of fire of 1000 RPM. A friend that plays on a hunter found this gun quiet interesting for Gunslingers buttom skill tree in which critical hits can give you a bit of super energy. It is not much you get per hit, but this gun basicly brings that Gunslinger perk to its peak. If you run Gunslinger with Celestrial Nighthawk on you, this may be a really useful weapon to have to charge up super.
it doesn't make each hit give super energy, it makes each hit add (to a stack of 3) a timer where your super regens slightly faster

This gun can be good af in PvP I got a "We Ran Out of Medals" my like 3rd day of playing crucible with it
come on guys. its been like this since D1. though in Y1 it was GHorn or bust and in Y2 & 3 was spindle , sleeper or swords.
and for this game, itll be this gun and merciless. that is unless bungie brings back sleeper in the rasputin DLC.
in order for anyone to go truly blind to a raid, they will have to avoid all video sites like this for a month which is impossible. so its NOT A SPOILER GUYS!
also holtz, i wouldnt necessarily dismiss it for competetive pvp. its definitely better than merciless which is clearly meant for pve only.

I can't use any other weapon in PvP anymore. The coldheart has consumed my soul and left me cold and immovable just like itself. I am now it's emissary, my heart frozen solid by the longest winter.
I hope this review will satiate the folks who thought this thing was gonna be the end of earned weapons in [Destiny 2] and the beginning of pay-to-win for the future.
All of you complaining because of the raid fight and wanting to go "blind" are probably the first in your group to google how it is done. There's more to the shooting that was shown here...

I personally don't mind because I really hate doing raids blind, but just because some of us don't care about raid spoilers doesn't mean it shouldn't matter. The damn thing came out yesterday, even if it's something so insignificant as some seconds of footage it should have a spoiler warning for those who wanna play it blind.

If you have a titan’s rally barrier can you make the make the multiplier go past 2x?
nope. maxes out at 75% damage increase. reloading using the barrier does allow you to just keep that damage increase up though.

It doesn't do precision damage in PvP. It only does 9 damage to the body and head, and will do 10 to the body and head with The Longest Winner perk active. In other words, keep it easy and aim for the chest. Also, good for harassing people in small corridors, make that shit a rave

u didn't want to see what the final boss looked like? or that u damage him while under the effect of a special aura? he didn't really explain anything about the boss fight, or that the boss is not just 1 robot but there's hundreds more of him under the throne room being built.

is it really a spoiler to show the final boss if everyone already knows who the boss is, he also doesnt show the mechanics just simply damage which is the shortest portion of the encounter. It's not like Oryx where theres an initial surprise that Oryx is huge, this raid has the final boss literally talk to you throughout the entire thing so showing the boss itself doesnt spoil the experience

I had no idea who the final raid boss was. Heck, I was so spoiler free, I didn't know which race we were fighting. Based on the name "Leviathan" I thought we might get another hive raid or maybe a vex one. No cabal ships look like the Leviathan

You mean where you fight Calus at the end? If you bothered to do adventures you would have figured that out already from the one on Nessus. And you figure it out again the moment you zone into it. It's not exactly a secret. The most you saw here was what he looked like and the fact that you'll be doing damage to him. Maybe a small glimpse of the arena.

Worth noting coldheart works extremely well with the lunafaction boots on warlock, just walk In and out of the rift while the beam does damage!

Vrendan Dela Cruz upon initial cast of the warlock rift and then afterwards on exiting and re-entering the rift it auto refills your magazine to full with no animation, so if you stand right in the edge and strafe when needed, you have a magazine that lasts as long as the rift is there (also worth noting it applies to all teammates as well )
So its like titans rally barricade, whenever u crouch ur weapon automatically reloads without animation, the warlock one sounds better tho because u only have to strafe(this can also be used by teammates)

He really didn't show that much of the raid guys. Seriously, you're all complaining but what did he really show? Him shooting a big bad guy in the head. That's not representative of the entire fight,and certainly not the entire raid.

the first encounter has you collecting 3 banners while fighting off waves of cabal as well as protecting them from cabal liberators trying to steal them back to open the door to the next encounter.
In the next encounter you fight yet more cabal in a giant bathhouse while standing on 4 plates at each corner of the room, before moving to the center of the room to DPS the crystal jars inside to complete the encounter.
After that you then move on the the pleasure gardens, the emperor's personal hunting grounds, where you must avoid being hunted by the emperor's personal warbeasts, while charging up spores to increase a damage buff which allows you to damage them, before eventually killing all 6 of beasts.
The final encounter of the raid is seemingly "emperor Calus" himself, and you must clear ads in the room while killing psions that stand on 4 of the 6 pillars that dot the room. When you are finished killing the psions, "Calus" sends you to an alternate-dimension like area where a phantom of "Calus's" face attempts to suck you in, where you must escape by killing psions positioned inside, before escaping out of a portal and back into the throne room. Once there, the platforms that the psions you killed previously stood on become enreathed in a buff that allows you to damage "Calus" himself. Repeat ad infinitum until death, where it is revealed that "Calus" is actually a robotic impersonation and that the entirety of the raid is actually a trial to test your worth as guardians.
This is the raid described in it's entirety, done so because whiney people apparently didn't want to know how to perform what is by and large considered the single most difficult PvE activity in the game, thus frustrating all of their potential teammates who already know how to perform the encounters, but now must waste time that could be better spent actually completing them to explain to ignorant teammates like them how to do it, before being forced to endure they inevitably fuck it up, thus screwing everyone in their fireteam over for the Umpteenth time in a row.
Yeah, how considerate to other players' experience you all must be.

I don't like your tone, because everyone will at one point be new to the raid and the best way to learn, is by doing it with people who are eager to show them the ropes. Calm, patient and fun people are the best people to play with and with your attitude, I don't think you are.

Umm i nvr preordered but i have the redeem codes to claim the Coldheart, Salute emote and the Kill-tracker ghost which is self-explanatory, a ghost which counts/tracks ur kill. I guess the items are awesome i wont complain i am ok with what i get.. It sounds and look decent
I find the Coldheart to be kinda Artsy fartsy. It fires its rounds out quickly, hell yeah, but the first half of the clip does pathetic damage. Since it is a Trace Rifle, it also does not benefit from other exotics/effects that affect Autos. High movement targets kinda shit on it, as you said, and it only has arc element. It does have a fairly high range for what is supposed to be an Auto Rifle class gun, but you can't really keep a bead on things at its maximum range(it also experiences fall off). The high ammo capacity means little, since you need all of that ammo at a minimum to get the ramp up. Also, since it has to ramp up, the value of the first half of the mag is really low, meaning that general use autos(600 RPM) will outperform it, because they do full damage for their whole clip. Like, in the vid you show you have 61 skulls and do 998 per round at full ramp(actually 1053 it looks like, you recorded from a back platform where it was experiencing fall off), whereas a Hard Light with that many skulls with do roughly 1800 regardless of platforms, with less ammunition spent(and normal purple 600RPM autos will do the same, but experience fall off like CH). If CH had infinite Ammo, it might win against other autos, but it doesn't. You run out of its ammo a bit faster than other autos, despite the "high" reserves, and you only really maintain high reserves because it is nearly useless on general fodder. Just another example of how lackluster Bungie has made Exotics this time around. They're almost all just sort of collectibles, with a few useful ones, but none of them are Gjallarhorn gods or Icebreaker utility. Which I mean, I'm wildly off topic by this point, but most of the damage comes from working as a team and from using things like Rally Barricade and Empowering Rift and the raid mechs themselves. Good for making everyone be a bit more equal. Bad cause you can't make up for weaker players with excessive firepower :(
Patrick, I thoroughly enjoy your content, but I feel there needs to be an annotation, edit or redux of this video. While your base supports you, as much as I do too, this was a mistake that can/did ruin the blind run for many (I get we knew what to expect, but the cut to the part happened fast enough that you soak in enough information to begin to get the context of the fight).
Nothing against you, or your previous content, but PLEASE put in the minimal effort to attach a disclaimer in the video in the form of an annotation, edit the front title of your video, re-edit/re-upload etc...I don't think your pinned comment is enough damage control since we normally watch videos first and talk/comment later.

fun fact about the Coldheart... its as accurate hip firing as it is using ADS... this means you can use it effectively only losing the ADS range bonus as a fast run and gun weapon. with good recoil reduction its accurate enough to be used like a SMG in PvP in addition to medium ranged engagements.
i also seem to personally have a easier time surviving while hitting players hip firing it.
It's not strictly available only to those who pre-ordered. It's available in all first print physical editions of the game (which are currently still being sold), and PSN is currently adding all 3 of the pre-order bonuses (gun, ghost and emote) to the digital deluxe edition of the game along with the premium content (sword, emote and emblem) it already comes with. So...no, it's not exclusive to pre-orders. It's exclusive to first print physical copies and the digital deluxe edition.

My 2cents, on pc in PvP Coldheart *feels* nigh over powered. With a steady aim the gun will melt people in a second or two and even my scrub self has been going consistently 4:1 k:d or better. The precision from the mouse control makes it really easy to keep the beam on target.

Seeing him shoot at Calus didnt reveal any real mechanics. You can still figure out everything for yourself.
I do like to use it on normal enemies, just because it kills fast enough for me and it's a damn fun weapon to use in general. For me fun > Min/max stats, so if I enjoy a gun, I use it. Never tried it in PvP, so that will be something to try later. Social limitations and anxiety keeps me away form the raid and Nightfalls for now, but it works well in every situation I've been in and that's thumbs up from me.
Thanks for a great review. I am curious if you have a few thoughts/review on the riskrunner. Recently I grabbed it after starting a second character (as I didn't love the graviton lance) and dang I used it in the beta but I forgot how actually powerful it is.

You don’t get it at level 20 just when you finish the story(level 15). When you collect it, it makes you level 20 so good leveling tip there
Personally I just don't like how they use the word "cold" and give it a chilling design without having some sort of slow effect active on the target. To balance it it could only slow the target once the gun is "charged up" while hitting a target.
Pvp: same damage as 900rpm smgs with bodyshots but fires at 1000rpm
Good for less skilled players
Good for bodies not for heads

You deal 9 damage to guardians in crucible regardless if you aim for their head... sooo what’s the point of aiming for a smaller point on their hitbox when using this gun?
Holy crap guys, he showed himself shooting at a boss for 10 sec in a damage phase with no mechanics and nothing else. Calm down. Its hardly the end of the world.
I really liked it for pvp. I had more luck with it than that sweet business autorifle. It really seemes to prevent people from fighting me back while they were being hit and i could use it from the air.
Basically people should consider it as a fast firing auto rifle with large mag , very good stability and ramping up damage . It's a good auto rifle .
