      Well, there are different kinds of health. Obsession is often a coping mechanism which affects one's mental health. However, that doesn't mean that it's good for one's mental, physical, and emotional health.

    Haven’t watched the video all the way through yet, but I always find it ironic people who have so much anxiety regarding diet and food “purity” under auspices of health but will otherwise use all kinds of chemicals and drugs and get risky injections and surgeries that have the risk of injury or death.

      That's a pretty specific community with outsized visibility. Basically it's people, mostly women due to sexism, who are obsessed with their appearance, often for functional and monetary reasons. I think a big issue is that there's no healthy way to rely on millions of people's opinions of your looks for a living, especially as you age and possibly have children. And yet we keep wanting to adopt the lifestyles people use to keep themselves in that unhealthy position, as if we, who have other jobs, obligations, and budgets, could or even should live like them.

    I don’t often find myself relating to Kardashians, but this one, I feel it. I’m an IVF mama, and my first four embryo transfers failed. There aren’t many things I wouldn’t have done to have my baby. Ironically, after the 4th failed cycle, RE suggested acupuncture. Said, “I don’t know WHY it works, but we see it work.” So I went to a highly educated and experienced practitioner and suddenly my labs were looking fabulous and my lining for transfer was nice and plush. I’m not sure if it was better hormones from better sleep, ormore blood flow, or whatever it was, but it seemed to change my game. My IVF miracle was my 5th and last embryo 🥺.

    • @kizu6669
      @kizu6669 2 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I actually read something about this recently by a known neurosurgeon, in context of the placebo effect. So specifically acupuncture has a very significant placebo effect. It's possible that after every failure, you had higher and higher stress levels, which can impact the succes of IVF (or pregnancy in general). In these cases, acupuncture provided you with a non-invasive treatment, most likely accompanied by the 'oh well, let's give this a shot' attitude. It decreased stress levels, especially as these 'treatments' are done over a longer period of time, which allowed you to get pregnant :). There are only two way in which acupuncture has been scientifically proven to work- pain management (by targetting just the right spot physically, so no meridian stuff) and placebo. Either way, congrats on the baby :D !!

So the acupuncture may be a form of placebo united with a positive mental space that it creates in people undergoing IVF allowing for a better hormonal panel due to reduced cortisol which may help.

    Now that I have watched the whole video, I think we can all agree we need to leave mothers alone in their choices. There is FAR TOO MUCH MOM SHAMING. You can do everything "right" and still miscarry, or still have a sick baby. The amount of women who think OTHER WOMEN "failed" at being a woman because they miscarried or couldn't breast feed is disgusting. I know so many women who had every intention of eating super healthy and "clean" when they conceived and then...couldn't keep anything down besides McDonalds Fries and butter noodles for the first trimester. Everyone is doing their best. Yeesh.

    That's interesting about infusions. I have digestion issues as well as being very forgetful, so I sometimes get IV treatments as it's just easier and cheaper in the long run as most things expire before I take everything. But they always look at bloodwork and ask what I'm taking first, and usually it's for things that are harder for me to digest as I've suffered a lot of intestinal damage due to severe hereditary food intolerances (like getting sick after every meal for a whole summer kind of severe, that's taken years to recover from). I also work with someone with a degree in nutrition which is really important, as that really should be a requirement that someone knows how things work.

      @@222222ania There are reasons for needing vitamins than a bad diet, so don’t be ridiculous and play doctor based on such little information. Your comment alone shows that you really don’t know as much as you think you do.
      People might have allergies that make it impossible to get in their vitamins or minerals in a sufficient amount, other people’s bodies might not be able to process certain food or vitamins or minerals sufficiently, others have sicknesses. I am no expert either so talk to an expert if you are really interested in that, but those are just some reasons beside a bad diet that simply needs to be changed.

    I’m not for people being their own medical care in this way- ”I feel/I probably need” and then insert solution, which Abbey mentions can have the opposite effect. It’s not like they run tests in advance to check levels, instead they make friend appointments to their homes and act like they are on top of their health. A diet with a variety of nutrients and staying physicslly active and hold back on the partying goes a loooong way. Even if you go to a doctor and run tests, it will take some days before the test results comes back.

    I hadn’t heard of Ayurvedic medicine for fertility, though I suppose it’s not surprising. When I went through IVF to preserve my fertility, my clinic strongly suggested acupuncture, and the acupuncturist strongly suggested a dairy-free, gluten-free diet, which I couldn’t follow 100% faithfully on account of the risk of disordered eating. It felt a bit extreme even trying it, but IVF is *so* expensive. You do anything you can to make it successful, so I did my best, and I really think it helped. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    The IV after illness is a great thing. But the only thing it’s going to do if he’ll boost your immune system because you may be dehydrated, and your vitamins might not be up to par. You will pee out the rest. And the IV is instant. So if anything it helps your body recover fast but not much else.

      i don’t think that because they are doing this, they need to be “cancelled”, it’s just foolish. maybe we should lean to saying that they need help, and better management to tell them what’s right to share on the internet. topics like these are sensitive, so maybe we have to keep in our minds that maybe they are facing a problem.

    Funny thing is I'm Indian, living in India my entire life and I've never heard about these ayurvedic cleanse.
    We do use ayurvedic meds but thosr like mostly like western meds but instead of getting the active ingredients from lab, they're extracted from plants and stuff, so the concentration can be a little low or it can be a little less efficient in some cases. But yeah we too have plenty of people who believe random sh*ts

    Just because it is an ancient Indian practice does not make it inherently good. Ayurveda has a lot of limits. My MIL is deaf in one ear because her family tried for four years to clear up chronic ear infections using ayurveda. It should be neither dismissed nor embraced wholesale and without examination.

    Light bulb beds, huge chamber things, specialty foods from around the world, supplements, IVs and healthcare providers all brought to the door of whichever one of your sprawling abodes you happen to have flown to this week - that's got to have some environmental impact that is not sustainable for general human health. I mean I don't live like a monk, but the expectation for this opulence if you have the $ is so excessive and wasteful. I also hate that it's normalized as simply your right to do what you want with your money. There is a point where it's not ok.

    The idea of abstaining from sex when trying to conceive just does not pass the smell test. There was even a study saying that couples wanting kids should have more frequent sex, but that study shouldn't have been necessary to convince anyone. Of course, I hope that the couples enjoy sex so much that they WANT to do it more often.

All they eat are salads, they constantly call each other "skinny" & their constant health endeavors always include scam like self-care products that constantly mention "eliminating toxins" which is just language used to sell a product it doesn't actually mean anything. I wonder how the show will impact younger viewers

    I do take liquid vitamins I have for decades due to my severe anemia… without taking them I’ve had issues such as needing blood transfusions, I’ve had 11 in my lifetime (my doctors claim because I have a lot of autoimmune diseases including type 1 diabetes and I had a right leg amputation in 2020 when I had 4 of those blood transfusions they only do when my hemoglobin levels go below 5). Liquid vitamins help keep mine around 7 but still better than below 5.

    The local IV drop place near me (called the drip club lol) does iron and b12 infusions but you need a prescription for those. I’m assuming that the other IVs do literally nothing besides rehydrate you.

    • @Emma-fr4cy
      @Emma-fr4cy ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true - intravenous vitamin C for example (mentioned in the Kendall clip) is FAR more bioavailable than oral vitamin C is. If you were to take the same high dose of vitamin C, orally and then intravenously, you could not reach near the same blood plasma levels with the oral tablets as you could with the IV. The oral bioavailability plateaus at a certain (not very high) point. This has been studied and proven. It’s a very interesting and effective tool for cancer patients/as a targeted therapy. There is decent literature to read on this :)
